    Hi All! Sorry for the poor audio quality and overly loud background music. We've fixed it on newer videos however can't re-upload this one. Thanks for watching!

    You have a good explanation, but the "background" music is way too loud!

    My favorite one is the Aeotec Z-wave one. I wish it could monitor individual circuits, but on a plus side, I have one of my RGB lights change color depending on how much power is being drawn. Handy for knowing if someone is taking long Tankless (electric) showers, or if the dryer is done....

    Good presentation, but, the music is distracting. TYWLTK. Also is there an energy monitor that does not use the "cloud" for storage? I would prefer a system that "connects to my computer/tablet and just logs that information there, then I can draw a line chart or investigate the data myself without using internet communication.

      Thanks tblandin - Will remember for the next video!
      The OpenEnergyMonitor can be used in local mode. Also, I have a feeling Shelly EM can be run in local only mode. Perhaps worth contacting them directly to confirm.
      Hope this helps!

      But without going to the cloud in the case of Sense, it doesn't learn appliances and what you see doesn't use the information it has learned. All you know is that you have a lot of electricity being used and you don't know what the culprit is. Sense also spots when an appliance is acting up by knowing this information/

    I can't find one (aside form the super cheap junk) current tracking device that doesn't require acc. creation and cloud. How frustrating.

    Which one of these monitoring systems i can use on 3 phase destribution panel? R/Y/B

    • @smarthomeperfected
      @smarthomeperfected  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey OMZY, the Efergy & TED monitors work with 3 phase panels. You need to purchase additional clamps though. There's also a new monitor by SE called Wiser which is 3 phase compatible which works similar to Sense. You can see the breakdown of the monitors here - www.smarthomeperfected.com/best-energy-monitors/

    Are any of these suitable for use in the EU? For example sense says they do not support the use of their products outside of the US and Canada.

      Hi Laurence, I currently use the Efergy engage monitor in Ireland and it works fine. Hope this helps.

    Hi Daniel
    Sounds good, but I use IOS so maybe not perfect. I did see another device: EMPORIA ENERGY Gen 2 Emporia Vue Smart Home Energy Monitor | Real Time Electricity Monitor/Meter
    It’s Alexa compatible and there are bundles with 8 and 16 sensors if required. Do you have any experience with this device which I see the first Amazon UK Review suggests works fine in the UK ?
    Thanks
    Paul

    • @smarthomeperfected
      @smarthomeperfected  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, I don't have any direct experience with it. From what I can tell it's a more complicated installation process as it is powered directly from the board whereas the Efergy is battery powered so easier to put in place. The extra sensors are great if you want to monitor individual circuits over the long term. Dan

      Hi Dan
      I may go for the Efergy, but will try to find some UK Reviews on the Emporia Energy Gen 2 as I think this may offer more information / control going forward.
      Thank you for all of your responses.
      Regards
      Paul

    #5 not an option because it sends my info to the cloud.
    #4 uses zwave :-(
    #3 same problem as with #5
    #2 battery powered :-( batteries have a way of going flat at the worst possible moment.

      Looks like they all use cloud. And account creation. How frustrating. I've yet to find one decent product that's not cloud based and doesn't require acc. creation so everything can be tracked by whoever.

    Can I purchase and use the Sense Energy Monitor in the UK ?

    • @smarthomeperfected
      @smarthomeperfected  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul,
      Sense only supports split-phase, 120/240V, 60Hz homes in the US and Canada so it's not available in other territories. I use the Efergy Engage in Ireland which isn't bad (app is a bit crap). However, it doesn't have the electrical signature recognition that Sense has.
      Hope this helps

      @@smarthomeperfected Hi Daniel
      I’m guessing the electrical signature recognition refers to the ability to recognise appliances on each circuit ? If so, Ive watched one or two US TH-cam videos which suggest it does this poorly.
      My home is circa 3,000 sq ft and there are only two occupants. Looking at the electricity usage of all my neighbours, some of which have houses between 4,000 and 5,000 sq ft and four or more occupants, I can’t figure out why I’m using 17,202 kWh/Yr versus an average of 8,105 kWh/Yr between 13x other homes, where the second highest usage and one of the larger houses uses 13,333 kWh/Yr. To be fair, our Electricity usage since I can remember has always been reported high, but this is the first time I’ve had the inclination to find out how high by comparing it to neighbouring properties. Would the Efergy Engage provide me with enough to identify what in my house or which circuits have the highest cost, and possibly when and why ?
      PS: I’m not growing Cannabis under UV and I don’t have any Servers mining Bitcoin, LOL.

    • @smarthomeperfected
      @smarthomeperfected  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paullawrence7340 Yes, the Sense appliance recognition seems to be a little hit and miss and can take weeks / months to register. The Efergy Engage won't directly identify what circuit or appliance is causing the high load however it does give you a real-time view of the total load of your home (if installed on the main feed). So you could install it, see what the current draw is in W or kW and then start turning on and off circuits to see what effect it has. Takes about 10-20 seconds from turning off an appliance or flipping a circuit, to seeing the reduced real-time draw on the app. Shouldn't take long to figure out what circuit or appliance is hogging energy.
      The efergy app isn't great, however a guy called Daniel Stone created a nice Android app called "Monitor for Efergy Engage" - I use that instead of the official app.
