The quality looks amazing compared to all other desktop CO lasers i have seen in this price range. just look at the base its like 5mm solid aluminium plate!
My honeycomb was on the bottom of the crate, I didn’t get any materials with mine in the crate. I got an Independence Day sale extra materials but it was only a few sheets of acrylic. Also mine isn’t glass, it’s acrylic on top
The Onyx in the video is the Onyx versions 1 and at the time of the video it was not announced there would be and Onyx version 2. Yes- the new Onyx-R has acrylic tops.
@@michaellaellis My materials package arrived separate from the machine. This video series is on the Onyx version1 and the current machine is the Onyx-R, they are different but maybe some of the information is relatable between the 2 machines!
This looks identical to my Gweike Cloud Pro II with some interesting tweaks. Hopefully the camera is better. I am curious how it operates as far as focusing and running jobs.
You noticed that too- there are some striking similarities. I just recorded the setup video today and everything went smoothly; I'm looking forward to making more content on the Onyx! Thanks for watching!
Was considering this or the Xtool P2 this is half the price, the P2 can cut 3mm plywood at 40 mm/sec wonder if this will do the same since their both 55 watt, waiting for your cut test
I do have plans for thick material cutting using the Onyx. With Co2 there's more than just the Co2 power, the laser tube quality and optics quality can greatly affect the laser performance. Stay tuned for more Onyx videos!
That's new to me too, but I understand why- it helps keep the laser optics in alignment. I think the machine vibration is about the same weather the laser tube is attached to the frame or the gantry frame. The machine guide rails do have bumpers on the ends to soften any impacts. Many large industrial laser systems have the laser source travel on the gantry to keep the laser path as short as possible. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Cheers!

@@thelaserchannel1 thank you
@@mikechavez7844 You're welcome 👍
I ordered mine before Fathers Day and got it this past Monday. No sample materials to try 😢 I let the company know, but I will order some anyway

is there a chiller/cooler included with it or is those that come seperate
It has a built in cooler! There's no need to purchase a separate unit!

@@CityWoodDesigns I do not know for certain. I recommend posting the Monport Facebook group page along with directly emailing Monport.

Did you hear about the newly announced 70W CO2 Monport Mega? Hopefully they send you one!

Xtool offers some software features that will be missing here, but for Lightburn users. the price difference is huge.

Dont like the fact that the tube rides on the x axis
