Excited for this one, gear talk is always great! I much appreciated the side comment about what I assumed were SUPE Scubalamp strobes in a recent video and that they are not quite as bright as the backscatter ones. Twice I felt like they were not quite bright enough, where I was shooting into the sun in shallow, clear water. Most recently in Key Largo last week. About the SUPE, I love the recycling time, battery life and color temp without another direct comparison. It’s hard deciding what strobe to get if not being able to shoot different ones side by side for comparison. So you sharing any experience on the subject is very helpful.
I think there are a lot of very good strobes at the moment. I've shot the SUPE strobes in the Philippines. They are decent all round - light, power and colour temp. Excellent at recycling (helped by being a bit lower powers than some of the others). I like that they are simple, manual only flashes. The ones I tried were not that reliable.
Could you share the weight of the strobe? I think their max pro is around 900grams. Keen to see your dive tests with the flat tube compared to the max round one.
Thank you for this video! This will be the next step of choosing strobes but before that I have some questions about the Z8 and best lens choices for that system which I posted on that video. If you could please take a look..it would be really helpful to get some more insight 😊 Thank you!
They say just over a KG. And neutral to slightly positive underwater. I could weigh the one I have here, but I am not sure how representative the internals are of the full production version.

1150g weight on land including the mounting ball and batteries. Dive weight in water +/-20g of buoyancy.

Did Retra mention weight with/without batteries, and what the buoyancy with batteries is?

1150g dry weight with the mounting ball and batteries. In water +/-20g of buoyancy.
Not sure you said or I missed it! Round flash tube or flat?
Straight tube. I think Alex forgot to say in the intro bit - but you should be able to see on the screen and in the test shot.
@ Yes it looked like a flat flash…. Interesting that they got a focus light in the middle still.
