Great Question! This was a big issue I had with the first generation one, the tightening knob would get loose over time. But they added a ratcheting mechanism in this one to prevent the organizer from loosening. Day to day, this has completely removed the need to tighten it once it's set.

the original orbit key knobs have locking indents that stop the screws from getting loose

you can buy a seperate remote that has a foldable key, you will have to program it at a specialist
I think if you really wanted to you could! 😄 but that’s kind of why the D ring exists.
