I love all the comments people telling this department what they should do with the trucks and how they should suspect them. This department seems to have it together and they know what they need and want. But it seems like many people here, he know more than the chief.
You got a lot of folks on here who think they know fire fighting. You've also got folks who do know fire fighting but they are used to doing it their way. One size does not fit all and it never has.... As you correctly pulled out every fire department has to look at the needs of their community they had to look at how the equipment's going to function within the stations and within the neighborhoods they have to look at what kind of neighborhoods there are there's a whole lot of factors nowadays that didn't used to be around but we have to look at them now.
I'll give you an example at my station we have an ambulance an a first response vehicle a pumper and a 105 straight pipe w no platform. Our area platform is at another station about 8 mi away between us and them we have at least 17 apartment complexes in the last year we fought three major fires in apartment complexes. We're lucky we have good hydrants and good standpipe areas. Some places don't.
What he says at the 11 minute mark everybody should pay attention to. If your maintenance is on the ball if you have people in there that know what they're doing if you are willing to spend the money to do it you can keep the trucks running. And you can also train those same mechanics to keep up and adapt to the changes in the technology that is out there. There should be no excuse not to do that unless you're just lazy.
Hey SMFR PIO, I'm curious as to why the engines co's all have roll up doors vs hinged doors for trucks? I've noticed that different depts will often do it either way but this is obviously all within one department and all part of one big order.
SMFR serves over 300 mi.² in three counties and in the following cities, Bow Mar,Castle Pines, Centennial, Cherryhills Village, Columbine Valley, Foxfield, Greenwood Village, Littleton, Lonetree, Parker, Castle Pines Village, Highlands Ranch, Louviers and Denver Tech Center,Centennial Airport, Inverness and Meridian office park.
I know all department is different but when I was a volunteer up North the truck company was a truck company not a quint. Also why 95ft ladder on such a small truck. They are beautiful I give them that . Like I said every department is different we had a heavy rescue we had a engine that we had a truck everybody know their part no cross trainer
Watching this as a German. It's really weird to see such big trucks with so much unused space etc. I think the European/German style Firetrucks are a bit mir efficient. Smaller and not that much water, but more personal and more equipment. But still very cool Firetrucks you had smfr!
There isn't really much unused space; You have to remember they have a tank that holds thousands of litres of water, one or two pumps and the truck's powerplant to make all of these things work. In reality your trucks are the same as ours, they just don't look the same.
That's what training is all about Larry what to do in case s*** doesn't work. And most of these newer trucks nowadays have got backup systems for nearly everything.
Looking forward to seeing 'em on the local streets!
Just gives me goosebumps knowing my dad worked here and protected these beautiful cities of Colorado.
Love the Pierce rigs!
is it just me who noticed the awkward coverup for the fart at 18:11 ?
nope weird stuff tho
😂😂 YES
Yes lmao
He was clearing his throat. The mic is clipped to his neck collar, not in his pants. 😂
It;s just you.
Another great episode in the series

McDonald’s: on fire
Me: bruh let it burn then all the fake chicken nuggets are gone...
Add,e,dmdddkdkdmd yea it is a chili’s and it doesn’t work like that
I love these
How come you guys choose such small tanks for the engines? Do you guys have good hydrant access?
The tail swing of those ladders....... How many cars get clipped trying to put that beast in place?
Driver training and knowing your rig goes a long way. 🤷♂️
@@chrisdix7037 Sure does. If you know how to drive you should not clip anything.
I thought SMFR used Sutphen?
Anthony Rogers Oh ok

@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO thanks for the info!
Are the trucks provisioned/stocked at 'HQ' or is the old equipment moved to the new truck?
Where is South Metro? What country, state, city?
BR549 USA, State of Colorado

American LaFrance was a regrettable choice for many fire depts.
funny, at least for my department, our ALF's from 05 are better than our 17 rosenbauers.
@@dawsont933 Everything is better than a Rosenbroken....
@@MrBrandon105123 Honestly, I think my pet rock does more than rosenbrokens do
well then i suggest you contact the fire company in my area as they still have an 80s model HANS
Where is the black aerial
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO will they be in a video in the future from the pictures I saw they look like very nice rigs would love to see more of it
So did you guys get 4 towers and 7 engines?
Edit, wait no sorry, but tower 35 and 34 look just like 32 and 45, are they a bit older?
yall need to have rear mounted tower trucks inside of mid mount
They know what they need. and a lot of places are using mid-mounts now because of like narrow streets or close together houses.
Awesome
I love Smurf wow
No! Don’t replace the Sutphens!
Yes. Replace the ugly Sutphens
@@Taconephotography Yep.
If they are past their service life hell yes replace them
i think south metro fire rescue makes all there trucks all the same like all pierce fire engines and trucks
Dude got probably a ton or more ladder above him 3:12, no hard hat.
Clearly not above him.
So Tower-32, Tower-45 & Engine-39 are revitiviley New.
Its a tower quint sick....

The technology will fall and then what will you do no you won’t know what to do because you rely on technology
