Not really, much anime op use a gibson lespaul, a semi-hollow gretsch, or a custom suhr with humbucker so it isn't really matter.

It's always the guitars that are the hardest in these J-Rock songs. They really love their funky strumming. It was something that caught me off guard when I first started learning anime songs being someone who mostly played blues and had very minimal funk experience at that point.
it was the same for me! it actually helped me to learn more funk which i didn’t quite like before and now i love it! Cory Wong has some great right hand technique videos, he’s the goat! even if it’s a different style i think it translates very well to J-Rock!

If you think the guitars are hard, try playing the piano parts. The people that write and play songs in this industry are all music school degree holders or dropouts, they study this stuff professionally before they make it big. Even if they aren't, the bar for quality and skill is really high.

I think one of the biggest influences on modern anime music (and why they sound different from older anime songs) is vocaloid music. So many anime music is written/sung by vocaloid artists and it’s really changed the entire J-POP landscape

It feels like there's a lot more math rock and jazz elements in modern anime openings as opposed to the more straight rock and pop elements in the older anime openings. This captures the essence of the newer openings and and kinda adds to what I think is happening in modern anime openings

On god, this is so damn good! Definitely reminds me of King Gnu and Eve (specifically Kaikai Kitan which is a good thing!). You absolutely captured the vibe of modern anime op. Instant sub, can’t believe this was your first video. I’ve been learning to play the guitar for a bit now but I’ve also wanted to pick up a bass too and this video just cemented that for me.
