    I have so much old stuff. My mom n dad came to the states in 1951 from Germany. Dad got a job at G.M., mom cleaned houses to help make ends meet. People gave mom so many dishes, lamps, knick knack stuff etc., that THEY had for years. So, I'm looking at 70 prolly 90 to 100 yr old + stuff. One of my favorites is an amber colored candy dish flared out with 3 prong legs. It has "veins" running through it. I absolutely love that piece and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. Money doesn't compare to the memory I have of it sitting on the stereo when I was a kid. I'm now 68. Mom died 3 yrs ago at 98. RIP MOM N DAD for being such great parents 👨‍👩‍👧 and influence on my life!💝💖🙅‍♀️💋💔. THANKS mom for all the cool stuff you gave me 🤗🤗😚 I'll cherish it till my end ❤

    I am very lucky I have my grandmother's ruby red dishes had she collected years ago and people in the neighborhood who knew she had these dishes gave her the pieces they had. I think some of these things came in detergent boxes or cereal boxes or something! I've added to the set through the years! And I subscribe to your Channel you do a great job can't wait to see more

    I also collect single pieces and especially candy jars with lids, but all my glass is olive/avocado green, my favorite color. Fostoria’s Argus, Fenton’s Valencia and Cabbage Rose, and Westmoreland (can’t remember pattern name just now) all have gorgeous lidded jars and compotes. I think they have red in all of those lines. This is a good time to buy EAPG (Elegant American Pattern Glass) as prices are generally lower. I think the Fenton will hold value, but I collect what I love and find beautiful, not for investment. I feel I’ve found a kindred spirit in discovering your channel tonight. Our homes are not cluttered, they are groaning with goodies. 😉

    Oh!! The honeycomb tumbler. Thank you for telling me the name I’ve been searching for! Our family had a set in the dark amber in the 60s. They remind me of my childhood in Illinois. And... I only wish I could hang my pictures on the wall in perfect straight lines. You’ve done a wonderful job. I’m here from Vinny ! New subscriber Here!

      Elderly poodle, we had the exact same honeycomb glasses in the dark Amber also. And I was thinking the same thing that it reminded me of my childhood. I'm in the suburb of Chicago. So this would have been 60s and 70s

    Hi Katie, great video! You might want ask someone like George or Scott about the Bavarian bowl. It doesn't look like flashed red to me. Cut to clear means that there are at least 2 layers of glass clear then colored on the outside. In addition, your lovely bowl appears to be etched rather than cut. Or perhaps cut then etched. Etched glass has that frosted look. Loved seeing some of your collection. The yellow candy jar is a stunner.

    • @vintageandvinyl
      @vintageandvinyl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Melinda. That bowl is losing some of that red around the bottom, but it does appear to be in the cut to clear style. I’m so confused by it. I definitely need to learn more .

    Viking Glass did the Georgian honeycomb line of glasses and tumblers also.The ruby red ball vases in the 1960s were often used for starting plant cuttings (ivy). Some of these ball vases (ruby red or forest green) eventually had a brass band and chain affixed surrounding the lip so you could hang them in the window to capitalize on sunlight for rooting plant cuttings. Rose bowls and ivy bowls are often interchangeable because they were just spherical shapes with/without stems or footed. It all is often confusing.

    Thank you for the glass video! So happy this will be a series. I also am a glass collector and like all types. I was surprised to learn about the Fostoria crown! I picked up a clear one with no lid, not knowing it came with one. I am a royalty fan and was pleased to learn from Ebay that there are two other crown designs! Great presentation! (P.S. The Avon Cape Cod glassware was made by the Wheaton glass Co. Nina in Michigan

    Avon doesn't make the glass, they have the glass made for them. Just like Breakstone Sour Cream didn't make the glasses that their cream was sold in. Wheaten Glass Company of NJ made the Avon Red Cape Cod glassware.

    I wonder if the Czech Bowl with the flashing in the grapes you have to wonder did they put a stencil or something on the peace before they flashed it so the white glass would not get covered up or I should say the clear glass... Cuz I know some China and ceramic dishes I was just reading lately about and they had a copper plate that was Inked and tissue was put on the copper plate for the design and then the tissue was put on the plate during firing and the paper burned off and left the ink on the bisque and then a glass was put over top so just trying to figure out how to do that. And by the way I use the microphone on my cell phone keyboard and I don't think I ever put any punctuation marks and what I just dictated in this comment sorry
