Heart breaking with the VHS n' all. I feel your pain John. It's crazy but here in Scotland you can't give them away anymore. I thinned out my VHS collection a couple of years back and I was getting turned away by charity stores. Madness. Ooh, btw see what you think of the DVD version of Turtles you bought. You mentioned you had it on VHS, my brother and I agree that the movie had a sort of grimey/dark/noir quality on VHS. We picked it up on DVD a while ago and it's just...not as cool.
Sorry, had to comment again. John, you are a better man than me doing this. I feel your pain man. Nice of you to say your Dad couldn't do it, that's how I'd be. I could NOT STAND having someone look through those boxes while I was still there, ahhh! Won't start on my Laserdiscs - and getting them from the USA to Australia, you can imagine the cost, and now, well, worthless, but not to me. Lovin' your vids John...
I saw Arthur in that pile! haha I still like it :s I don't think I have ever owned a VHS tape, but I feel your pain! It's like getting rid of memories. $30 for Alien?! holy cow. Monster House is awesome! Great video
I'm obsessed with Bond too and i think lazenby's flick was so slept on and it's a shame cause it's amazing. Dalton isn't very charming or handsome but he captured the Bond of the books. My dad is a filmmaker in Miami and i occasionally act in commercials and do voice-overs and every time someone asks me what i aspire to amount to in the business and i always say i want to work on a Bond in any capacity, my life would feel complete. i admire your sense of humor don't let people call you gay or annoying for being animated cause the alternative is being super reserved, self conscious and scared to enjoy life out of fear of others' opinions, i've been there
Dude, John... You should have kept those big box MGM VHS tapes. I'm sure they work absolutely fine and those big boxes are worth something. They probably weren't back then but believe me they will be if they aren't already. I love those. I got Pink Floyd The Wall in one of those big box MGM packages when I was in the sixth grade.
DAMN!!! Those are some sweet VHS tapes dude! I love the MGM book-boxes of "Poltergeist" and "2001"... If I would've known you before I would've said "Send 'em my way!" LOL! Haha, I would have a hard time getting rid of those too! Nice pick-up on TMNT! Great video as usual guys, keep it up!
I did grow up with VHS too, but I can't really feel nostalgic for them. They were always so flawed and the fucking rewinding all the time... jesus. I only own like 2 or 3 movies on VHS from back in the days and a VHS of Up The Academy because there just is no DVD/blu-ray version of it here. I mean there is no way to get some money out of them by selling and since I have enough space I can just keep 'em. But if I would need space or they would be worth something I would easily get rid of them.
Im like you man I don't wanna get rid of anything, I used to go to good will to BUY vhs tapes just for collecting sake, and to find some things that aren't on dvd/blu ray and probably wont be ever lol
Oh man, those big MGM boxes are awesome! Dude they would play awesome on a good Sony VCR! Im pretty sure horror vhs tapes are worth something if you have any of the og Friday the 13th's, etc. I still buy tapes and you almost never find horror movies anymore.
I need to replace my VHS as well. I have a ton still. I loved them all when I was a kid. I do have a player but it's never used. I can't say we really use our DVD's much either. The Disney movies get used the most, those are the ones I need to replace. Although I will keep my Little Mermaid VHS with the infamous cover.
Dude! I love your enthusiasim! Lol. 3:14 is the best part! You're hilarious! I'm really enjoying your videos man, keep them coming!:D p.s. I must agree that animated movies ARE the best!
Check out cinestalkers channel, I just ordered a good film on VHS thats out of print on DVD called Pandaemonium, picked up a copy of GoodWillHunting as well, kind of want to get rid of my blu ray version it just looks wrong without the grain, I have a good DVD copy but went a step back even further. Watched Spy Kids one recently on VHS, still one of my favorites, though I will pick that up on blu. Honestly, 007 films should have been few that you didnt keep, they belong in good quality and take up too much space on VHS.
Yes that’s right, I’m rewatching all these videos.
I just noticed the turbo man on your shelf 😀
Looking at the old 7.88 bin, there is a lot better deals then and there is now. Funny I think.
