Smicers goal and he scored a pen. Very under rated player imo.
Not many people would have taken that shot on from that position but he knew we had to roll the dice. The most important goal of the match as well because that was the moment Milan realised they’d fucked it. There was no doubt we were coming back when it went 3-2

If you mean the game then yes, 2005 was way better, 100%. This Liverpool team was nowhere near the 99 or 08 teams, and not even as good as Chelsea’s 2012 squad.

As a Manc I am supposed to hate this result. But when Gerrard got that header, a surge of English pride came from deep within me. I started roaring Liverpool on. Feeling the same, a few mates joined in and suddenly nobody could hear the commentary as we shouted obscenities at the Italians and screamed encouragement to the Reds. Carragher was immense. A night that made me proud to be English. The greatest final of them all. Incredible.

At 5:05, Gabriel Clarke pointed out a significant dilemma for Liverpool: despite their remarkable comeback, they were not eligible for the next season's Champions League as the reigning champions because they finished fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Everton, who secured the last UCL spot. The FA had stated before the final that only the top four Premier League teams would qualify for the 2005/06 Champions League season, irrespective of Liverpool's outcome in the final. The top four were Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Everton. The decision sparked controversy, particularly due to the historic rivalry between Liverpool and Everton, exacerbated by a longstanding dispute over the UCL/European Cup. This dispute traced back to 1985 when Everton, under Howard Kendall, won the league but were barred from European Cup entry due to a five-year ban on English teams after the Heysel disaster. Everton fans held Liverpool responsible for their fall from the pinnacle of English football, missing three years of European competition during the ban. Kendall noted in a radio interview that Evertonians were apprehensive about history repeating itself, although Everton stated the club supported Liverpool's defense of their UCL title, but not at their expense. Liverpool awaited three weeks post their Istanbul triumph to find out if they could defend their title. In the end, UEFA permitted their entry into the 2005/06 UCL, but they had to progress through all three qualifying rounds to reach the group stage.
