  • Let's squeeze one more in before the end of the year!! We got a recognizable fish by everyone across the world, THE SEAHORSE! These can be a joy to watch and grow, but they do take some work to keep them thriving. It is best to house them in a species specific tank as well as having things like microalgae and sea fans for them to hang on.

    Do you use RODI water or conditioned tsp water?

    • @BrockLeonard
      @BrockLeonard  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      RODI all the way. And I usually put a ph buffer in it too. Ive used conditioner for freshwater ponds and such, but I’ve been way too scared to ever try that with saltwater tanks. They can be fragile.

    Can seahorses be kept with hammer corals

  • @DoYouEvenFishTank
    @DoYouEvenFishTank ปีที่แล้ว

    Seahorse generally don't suffer any acclimatisation issues (other than major temp swings) due to their cells working differently to most other sea creatures. It is highly recommended to give them a 8-10min dip in pure RO water (not pH'd or anything else) at 25*C before adding them to the tank, no drip acclimatisation between the fresh and saltwater.
    If you are buying seahorse, NEVER buy them from a shop that has them in a tank already as you are destined for problems. Have them ordered in directly from the breeder and collect them before from the store before they have had a chance to open the bags. The breeders water will be sterile and free from disease and viruses.

    Do you keep seahorses?

    • @BrockLeonard
      @BrockLeonard  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve taken care of em many times at the shop, but I do not currently have a personal sea horse tank at the house. Maybe one day!

      @@BrockLeonard So that is a no, which is obvious from the video......
