I saw a guy take the shrinking beer, turned off the gravity, jumped up to the top left of the big window, jammed himself into the corner somehow and when he grew back to normal he phased out onto the platform and ran around as long as he wanted in space. He literally went all the way up to the big dish/array thats out there on the left. It was the most beautiful thing I had seen in this game
You can actually do this without being small, while disabling gravity and jumping against a specific spot against that window. Works better if you're in a lobby and not the host in my experience :)
I did that one. Got all the way to the memorial hall and trolled a gunner who joined by standing on the outside of the promo terminal

Oh, I didn't know you can do that that way. I use Wormhole Special because, if glitched right, you can set your spawn outside. If you break gravity before hand, then you'll have low gravity outside too.

It's a shame that there is no steam achievement for beating the mission being drunk over 90% or something
wanna say that's because the brews would drain out too fast. We went to an on-site refinery basically near-drunk before, and by the time we finished we were fine again.

Instead, something extremely similar happened at a game shop, where I uttered a phrase from DRG that I can't remember exactly, and someone who I was sitting with responded with a similar phrase, that I can't quite recall, but it was still a magical moment where we shared our love of DRG, even though we had no prior knowledge that we both played DRG.
And then I commented on a video about DRG about this happy experience, even though the details might escape me. So I filled in the blanks to create a better story, because I wanted to share my love of the game with the community. Except apparently some anon says "didn't happen lol" so fuck me, I guess.

I always thought the effects of tunnel rat and rocky mountain were backwards, cause when I think "tunnel rat" I think of mining speed, and when I think of "rocky mountain" I tend to think of cliffs and falling or something

Think of it more like as a "tunnel rat" you gain the power of a scurrying rodent in the caves, more at home to the terrain and pits you may fall in, whereas the rocky mountain gives you cold drunken strength to break up rock and stone

I can definitively say that drinking Leaf Lover's is actually cursed. A random bought a round for the entire team, and for the at least next 24 hours, there was an unhealthy amount of wardens that spawned, no matter the haz i was playing on. I blame the Leaf Lover's for spawning these extra bugs.
I agree. Bought a round myself back when I was new and ignorant. The very next mission , which was a solo mission on hazard 3, three detonators spawned. In. One. mission.

Fun fact: Slayer Stout is most likely a reference to Warhammer Fantasy’s dwarf slayers. When a dwarf does something particularly shameful, they’ll take the slayer oath to die a glorious death as repentance. They dye their hair a bright orange/red, wear no armor, and usually charge straight into a tide of foes with either two one-handed axes or a giant two-handed axe or hammer.

Not to mention the axe on Slayer’s Stout is very similar to the axe of a famous slayer, Gotrek Gurnisson.
Toss in other Slayer references with there being quite a few crest hairs as well, big ol' mohawks are basically staple Slayer hairstyles. Basically cosplay my Gunner as one.

One important thing to note, if you even need to sober up for a mission cause everyone was relaxing between missions, a true dwarf always orders a round of blackouts and lets their mates get them up after passing out.

I remember there was a bug a few months ago where if you switch dwarves while under the effect of beers, their effect will not expire. So some people were eternally large or small, and I have a screenshot of 4 dwarves all of different size - normal, fully shrunk, fully grown, and one that stopped growing prematurely
It's still there, it's just switching dwarves now just resets the timer effect. I, personally, stack that way underhill, blackreach and gutwrecker. Tiny burping farting mini disco dwarf running around the droppod, annoying everyone waiting for launch, that's what I call true management nightmare

Always loved the lines the Dwarves would give when they order specific drinks. Like how apparently the Tunnel Rat is actually brewed with an actual rat, or how Blackout Stout has them sometimes day "May as well skip straight to the hangover!". It's nice to have this funny little mechanic add so much character to the rig and Dwarves, and I really do hope Lloyd expands his menu someday soon. (Lloyd is the best mysterious bartender character.)

My friends and I have adopted a tradition of spamming the 'cheers' until one dwarf says the last to finish is a pointy eared leaf lover line. then we point and laugh at and throw our mugs at the last one to finish. Typically its the one who said the line, but sometimes you miss it.
Drink a craft beer just before promoting a dwarf in the memorial hall to have doofy stuff happen in the background while mission control is giving you his speech. My favourite is Blackreach Blonde, which plays the funky dance music over his speech.

The sheer amount of charm this game has is amazing. In any other game, I'd ignore the beers and only get the buffs when needed.
But after a rough mission, I'll find myself getting an Oily Oafs. Then have to wonder why I did that since it gives no benefit. I gotta hand it to Ghost Ship, they broke me and made me buy useless beer because it's fun 😂
I totally agree, there's just something oddly comforting about the Oily Oaf, idk if it's description or how the dwarves order it. It has that end of the day comfort drink feel to it .
Not to mention you will pay credits just to tip the fake robotic tender for pouring the useless beer. But he seems so chuffed about it!

i think it’s worth noting that tunnel rat combined with scout’s armour resistant and fall reduction mod on his grappling hook can make you completely immune to fall damage for the mission

I have a veteran miner buddy who makes sure we all get drunk and have fun in the lobby before going below. But then order leaf lovers for all, because we can't go mining drunk apparently. Never will I be forced to drink a leaflover again

You see double of every enemy so always shoot the wrong ones and the moving around automatically is a pain outside of the rig but even so it's funny doing a blitzed mission every now and again
Personally I jump in the hoop. It's quick and a challenge to make the jump at 90% drunk
I'm straight out quitting the lobby, if someone orders a leaflover. I can't risk my beard in caves with those kind of people.

You can actually go down on a mission with the Blackout Stout on. I found if you drink it just as the pod is about to drop, you get the drunken effect but don't have enough time to go down and start the mission at max drunkenness.

I really like the ideas for those special beers! I remember seeing a DRG Historian video where he mentioned a craft beer that would make you kick barrels with explosive force, and I really want that one to make a return someday that seems like it'd be funny as shit, especially with the space ball minigame!
i definitely agree we could use more drinks for the daily special, more of those would be fun, but another thing the devs could do, is if they add the canteen to the game, the food there could also give buffs as well, or even debuffs for folks who want a challenge

My main issue with the special beers is that some of them are incredibly useful like redrock blasters increasing hp by over 50% while dark morkite let’s you get more morkite… most of the time you still have to go to the final room on mining missions anyways, and it’s ONLY useful for mining missions
Maybe it could have increased headlamp visibility. It would be quite an ironic beer.

Backbreakers are also really nice on escort, as you're often carrying around fuel canisters quite a bit. Double jumping *WAS* in the game, but the devs removed it because it was very OP.

I remember after one of my first few missions after getting the game, a high level player went and bought us a bunch of the different fun beers. It was one of the things that made me fall in love with the game and now I always try to create that experience for new players if given the opportunity

I’d like the ability to use brewing ingredients to strengthen the effects of the craft beers. I think extending the duration of the effects would be boring, so perhaps the intensity would be raised?
What if there was a slider ranging from 1x (normal intensity) to 2-3x? Imagine someone pouring all their ingredients into an Underhill Deluxe and becoming the size of an ant.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a daily special beer that decreases interaction time for stuff like Doretta and pipe-building. It would make sense, since there are already beers that help with missions like point extraction, egg hunt, and mining missions.

I had no idea that the special effects were actually twice as powerful as their descriptions led on to be, tho I was suspicious of why I was breaking 3-hit terrain in 1 hit instead of 2.

That is the case for all beers.
Also, the Lucky Lager couldn't work: it would be a mission-wide buff, and beers only apply to the specific dwarf who drinks it. Maybe it would work if the host drank it, but that would mean it has no effect on the other dwarves, which is just weird.
Maybe it could give a small chance to get a small amount of the corresponding biomes abundant crafting resource when mining any material (nitra, gold, mission objectives, etc.)
@@thecrazypain9978 I don't think you got what I meant: beers only give an effect to the *dwarves*, not to the mission. They can't affect how the cave is generated. That is the mutators' job.
@ perhaps increasing the chance for each dwarf having an effect applied to them would be a good idea? Say, 5% per player

I began playing this game not so long ago and I thought there was only 3 basic beers. Turns out I was underestimating the Abyss Bar. Thank you Sniss for your enlightenment.
The graphic design for the beers is so damn good! Each one makes the world feel very real as I could see any of those logos being real
My engie is built with Beserker, Leech, Iron Will, Thorns, and Second Wind. The fact that I can die and pick myself up, do the pickaxe AOE power attack to clear all the enemies around me and heal myself at the same time is so fucking amazing. It's saved me and my team more than once, and with Skull Crusher, my character pretty much becomes a melee only dwarf
How soon will people make IRL versions of the drinks?
You could make the glyphid slammer by putting together vodka and an energy drink? Or any other strong alcohol. For oily oaf, add some butter and froth to a brown sugar tasting beer?

Reduces construction/repair times of Pipelines, Uplinks/Fuel, Mini Mules and Bet-C by 20/30%, also increases Doretta repair efficiency by however much is reasonable
So fun fact, you used to be able to go on missions right after drinking a blackout stout, and it would keep the drunkness from doing so the entire mission. I don't know if you still can, but you're welcome to try.

I actually played a mission with 100% on the "drunkness percentage" all you need to do is time it right with drop pod and blackout stout...
It's horrible, If you get bad motion sickness DO NOT do it because it WILL fuck you up, as someone who doesn't get sick from visually induced motion sickness it still made me feel like crap...
More custom beers:
*Fully Loaded*: Increases your total ammo for all weapons by 30%
*Night Boolo Cap*: Gives limited night vision (makes it easier to see without a light source, find those pesky gold veins on the ceiling)
*On the Rocks*: Heal 25% after breaking out of frozen status effect
*All Nighter Ale*: Gain a single self-revive for the next mission
I like your “Scout’s Eye Stout” idea. I wouldn’t mind having a similar brew that highlights enemies and/or hazards (similar to Terraria’s Hunter and Dangersense potions, respectively).
Lucky Lager sounds good too, but I’d also add the effect that it causes weapon upgrades that randomize damage to roll higher more frequently.
This game was robbed of “labor of love” by some unfinished junk. The amount of fine tuning and attention to detail makes this already fun game a truly charming and genuine time.
If you're with a group of friends (or with yourself, really) and start drinking your brew, the effects(maybe) along with the drunkness, carry over to the mission (as long as you consume the brew before the launch happens).
If you do it successfully, you could drink a blackout stout, drop to Hoxxes, and have 100% drunkness and not pass out.
With some experimentation with friends, it appears only the host of the lobby can experience this.

sniss is the only person who can bribe me to drink all the special beers. Except for Pot o gold and dark morkite. Still never get the chance to use them perfecty.
Always take dark morkite on deep dives. It can actually save life
Usually when you see a specific beer like Pot O Gold it's worth looking at the available missions. If you can find even a Mineral Mania it may be worth em.

Miner's Delight - Increase pickaxe swing speed
Jolly Jogger - Increase dash speed
Stout's Stout Stout - Passive health regen
The Energizer - Decrease active ability cooldowns
Dead Man's Drink - Lowers reload/cooldown times
A note for skull crusher: on ALL hazard levels except the last stages of Elite Deep dives, from my experience, Skull Crusher makes grunts die in one hit to the face with your pickaxe. Very useful at the end of a swarm when you have a few grunts and you also have Vampire.

I talked with a friend about the craft beers, and we came up with the idea of a beer that switches the skins of the player around. There aren't really many other chances to see your skin from the POV of someone else.
I do hope the beers stat buffs eventually get changed to what they actually give because I'm sure some people see the buff and decide it isn't good enough to buy and miss out.

Lol a few of these are definitely Tolkien references. “Underhill” is the pseudonym Frodo used when getting a room at the Prancing Pony in _LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring_ so it makes perfect sense that it shrinks you. Arkenstout is a reference to the Arkenstone in _The Hobbit._
The description of Underhill bear is also an alusion to begginig of The Hobbit.

I disagree with your idea that Pots O' Gold is ever a _bad_ thing. If mining the extra gold is too much of a hassle, then don't do it. But there's no reason to not use it on point extraction, etc. and mine gold only when you happen to have free space for it.

Okay so I was really caught off guard by "Yeehaw Delivery Boy" from Pizza tower kicking in at 10:05
I'd probably add a magnet beer that increases the radius of sucking up minerals. I'd probably call it "Magnite Märzen." I'd also have one called "Golden Gose" for mining gold in one hit and randomly causing melee'd enemies to drop gold.
