When accompanying Doretta, bring the rippers. By throwing them orthogonally at the walls of the caves she leaves behind, it'll continuously spin around, killing most Glyphids that try to enter instantly, leaving only the bigger ones like Praetorians and flying enemies.
My man actually covered himself in wood chips just for that intro. That's dedication. Also, try drilling to 12 with your drill setup. It requires you to stop holding the button as you hear the 12 terrain break and your drill will hit 100%, but not overheat.
at 19:26 when you talk about sabotage, while none of the driller primaries work well against the boss, the flamethrower works obscenely well against the bots, as they instantly die when set on fire no matter the health
I still think the zipline launcher needs some love, the ability for the zipline to cart pears/chunks/eggs/aquarqs/data cells/ect would be a nice bonus having said that i find this guide amazing as any and all information on any classes is helpful :P
Honestly, all the zip-line needs is retrievable ammo, which hopefully the Crossbow provides a good framework for. Small change that would bump it up from situationally A tier to a solid option everywhere.
agreed. I think it needs to move you WAY faster than it does. In general I want all the utility weapons to get more upgrades in their trees. Like the platforms could have a glowing option, the ziplines could have small turrets on them... I am hoping the next big update is all about new utility abilities and a poker table in the rig for betting with minerals and money.
Ziplines are arguably the most useful tool in point extraction missions, as the platform often spawns at the lowest point of the cave system and the ziplines give you a safe way to quickly return to the platform in case of swarms or full pockets. It's also fun to build elaborate zipline systems for traversing the higher areas and safely shooting bugs.
I'm a newly self-proclaimed driller main, and when i finally decided to look for ways to get gooder at drilling, many fellow dwarves pointed me to your channel, and your content is definitely helpful(and sometimes amusing). You've earned this Dwarf's subscription. Rock and Stone, brotha!
I'll be real - when I first started playing Driller seemed like the least interesting class. But the more I play and the more I watch other people's strats I see Driller is probably the best dwarf all around. Insane DPS, great utility, and if you're alone you can drill anywhere and get stuff you'd normally have a scout get, even if you're less efficient.
Drillers are a godsend if the generation RNG didn't like you during a liquid morkite mission. Although herding a new driller to try and drill towards the pumpjack can be a pain I can't exactly fault them.
Driller in Refinery is so fun because who wants to spend forever making a long path to the pumpjack that then has to turn around and collide with itself making it bad for mobility? Just DRILL
it looks like the terrain was curved when you saved yourself, using the 2m wideness of the drills, you must have caught the terrain when it was closer to the drill range but far enough from your feet that you were able to drill in time
Greenbeard here, been playing a few days now with my buddy who is also new. We had a lightbulb moment when he said we're thinking like humans, think like a dwarf and since then we've been digging tunnels everywhere lmao. Great video as well. This is a really fun game.
When drilling to the drop pod, especially when molly is lagging behind, drill _just_ to the drop pod's entrance but don't breach the terrain. This essentially turns the tunnel into a map long bunky, allowing easier management of glyphid spawns until molly docks. when the gates are open (or when an oppressor decides to spawn inside the tunnel) simply breach the surface and run straight up to the drop pod. Bonus points if you breach with a C4 and everyone dashes out just like in the movies
I have quickly found the drillerr to be my favorite simply because I can immediately drill to the drop pod. Otherwise it is so difficult to leave the mission sometimes. This guide was amazing for me. Rock and stone! ⛏️
I love drilling out for my team but personally I love the extraction run more. With "RUN!!!" pumping in the background and everything I have put in place on my way down ready, I just get a kick out of finding my platform staircase to that steep cave opening or riding up a Zip Elevator in a vertical cave from hell.
You are able to drill above the caretaker and throw satchel charges on it to destroy it's shields, but I'm still an amateur and that's the only trick I've known so this video was hells helpful to me, thx dude
Fantastic Video! I was really surprised that you went over pretty much everything with the Drills, and your videos have helped a ton when I play Driller. Keep up the awesome content!
S+ driller guide! As a secret little tip, satchel charges can almost destroy all of the caretaker's vents or a load of their health if you get above them by either using a tunnel or by using a gunner's zipline

The drill save may work because ledge grabs cancel fall damage. As you are drilling out a piece of terrain below your feet, you create a ledge to grab. Maybe your character grabs this at the last second as you hit the ground where you drilled into?
@@CrOsSeDUpTv what i meant was, drilling in the name of knows that drilling a hole in the ground saves you, its the fact that it doesnt happen every time is what he wants to figure out .-.

Dang it, I've been watching your content for a bit now and I just love the editing and the humor. The dictionary part (where you literally printed the google translate definition, and stuck it inside) was the final push for me to subscribe. Well deserved!
1:44 it's utility is letting the scout get resources faster which if you spend too long in a mission more and more bugs show up so it does help in that aspect.
When your bomb dispenser is on higher ground than the shard you should open line of sights to be able to throw bombs down at it. For example in the video at 20:40 blow up the wall to the right when looking at the shard so you can get closer to it without having to drop down
Great stuff as usual. I don't love the trenches technique during an omen module, they don't provide that much cover (drones and burster are still an issue) and they impair your ability to move and dodge those things. Instead (if the terrain allows) I dig Dreadnaught tunnels that connect each activation platform to each other. In one of the hallways out of sight I will drill a little cubby for a resupply so you and your teammates can heal in peace. Gives you much better cover from drones (they don't seem to follow you into the hallway if you are out of sight) and if you get knocked at the opening of the hallway, your teammates have cover to revive you. The Dreadnaught tunnels are also helpful for Korlaks, especially when they are in awkward spots, like up on a smallish ledge overlooking a larger room.
10:40 Its just as fun if the teammate is alive too tbh. Not gonna lie it took me watching this video to realize "Oh, the angle meter." I've just been freeballing it the whole time. Excellent video! ROCK AND STONE!
Bro i came across this video back when i used to play alot and when i mained driller. This video came back into my feed today and now most of this is second natire to me as an driller main. Im VERY grateful for this video cause it taught me most of everything i know now added with a couple of cool little tricks ive learned like using enemies or teamates to break a high fall by landing on them and breaking ore spike stems by hitting the bottom twice and immediately using the power move yo destroy it
15:44 Are you really OCD? I was diagnosed recently, and it's helped me understand a lot of the oddities about the way I play this game and others in retrospect. Things like counting out the number of times drills tick before an overheat--cool to learn someone else does that, btw! My "I actually didn't know that" moment in this video was you can instakill turrets by drilling underneath them. I usually just instakill them with the CRSPR instead, but this is a useful thing to keep in mind especially if I somehow end up in a Sabotage mission with the cryo cannon.
Pro Tip: On Industrial Sabotage, you can save your entire team the effort of attacking the weak points if you drill a path above the boss to where you can easily drop C4 on the center of the boss, saving valuable time and ammo. It takes 2 C4 so with a total of 3 phases, it's 6 C4 to fully clear the weak points yourself and can save your team a lot of time to focus on everything else. Just make sure you have yourself a clear path back to the entrance of your tunnel along with ammo in a safe location.
Owwwww dude. The driller is a iceberg class. Has so many depth than you actually seeing, this guide must be fixed in the menu of the game alongside with the other videos of you. Nice job man! You rock and stone! (Sorry, english its not my primary language, maybe one or more errors in the writing)
"Now I want this video to have something for everyone..." Literally only 2 hours into the game, played every class once. Don't even have upgrades or _beer_ unlocked yet. The drills were easy to pick up on, but they seemed more hassle than they were worth compared to just the pickaxe. Super short overheat, wonky physics, fills the screen with dust, and can't be used to actually mine things? Clearly I need a veteran's guidance on these things. So I jump to 4:25, and it's actually helping. Sometimes, a visual demonstration is what you need to see, and you're putting together clear examples without going too fast or too slow. Thank you
19:31, where's your correcting clone? "Hold up, the CRSPR with the triple-filtered heat mod will make quick work on the Rival bots. You don't need the mod, but it helps."
Learned a lot from you. I have been a cryo vamp driller main since I've started and I hit max rank just a month ago. I play around Asia region(I host all the time) and it's still satisfying to me seeing new players getting amazed and commending me on their first time encountering bunker defense especially on Salvage missions.
31:20 I'm pretty new to DRG, but from what I'm seeing, I'd say the key is the timing of the tick. I think the key would be to time the tick of the drill to destroy the rock right at the perfect timing (be it when you hit the rock, just before, just after, I don't know though)
I still watch your guide videos religiously despite me being almost rank 400 and not necessarily learning anything from them. They have great entertainment value !
About the drilling down saving manover: "If you pull up a ledge you take no fall dmg and reset your momentum." But because the Script that DRG uses for updating voxels and terrain is so inconcistent it can not realy be pulled of reliably. Just pray that you will dig the moment you hit the ground and the created hole is exactly in the angle to climb it.
I love how almost every Driller main story begins when thinking "could I drill straight to the Drop Pod?" haha That was me in my first mission, I revive my friend, drilled to the Drop Pod and we barely made it out alive, at zero seconds left. Another thing that I love about Driller is doing an On Site Refining, and making the best tunnels in the world (in my mind at least haha), straight road from the refinery to the pumpjacks, one time, one of them made a perfect path to hacking an enemy tower Just got my second Driller promotion a few hours ago; between my two groups of friends who I play the game with, I'm the only Driller and that makes me feel more special B)
Great video! I learned a lot! One tip you didn't mention which is perhaps obvious is drilling under turret controllers. You can pop just enough of the surface under them to hack from the bottom without leaving the tunnel or exposing yourself at all. If there are a lot of distant or ceiling turrets this provides (relatively) high safety and an easy way to take them all out at once.
My brothers and I all love playing this game, and we all have different approaches. My oldest brother Aryn and my youngest older brother Clay both main Engineer, and Hawke, our middle brother, is the resident Gunner. Meanwhile I play the Driller, and while technically the youngest, Driller is perfect for how I like to play support and "baby" my brothers. Don't worry about a thing, Oldman Young is ready to roll.
17:45 Had an idea for a very slight micro optimization, dig the exit tunnel almost to the drop pods predicted ramp would be. Then end the tunnel with a satchel. The moment the refueling is complete. Blow the charge and beeline for the pod.
Buff the flare gun This was an amazing video about using the drills more dynamically. I’m a scout main by trade but I dabble in all classes and I definitely struggle to get through my drills’ fuel before I’ve expended my other ammo and need resupply, more so than any other traversal tool. The grappling hook is free, the zip line is so limited that using it dynamically is extremely niche, the platform gun I found pretty intuitive, but not so much the drills. But this showed me a bunch of little things, like not clearing some obstacles, and that 11-break method which is just awesome. Now I just need to figure out how to differentiate scout playstyle from everything else. I rush in too close too much without the proper tools. And I need to work on my builds, I don’t quite have a grasp on what’s effective and what’s worthless or redundant for driller, particularly his primaries. But thanks to this video I think I’ll actually take that damage cooling because I don’t use enough fuel as of now. Thanks for the advice! Looking forward to hearing what I’ve already figured out on my own from musnothus soon :)
Just watched this video and I'd never thought to use the EPC TCF for terraforming things connected to the ceiling. This video really has something for everyone.
At first I tought Driller was really boring class as they could only drill and stuff, so I started out on Scout because the Grappling Hook was undoubtely fun to use, but then I learned the way of Engie and had a blast feeling really powerful dealing with swarms and using platforms to support and redirect bugs... but then it happened, I tried Driller for the first time and I had a blast from the start to my first promotion, his weapons, axes, drills... I felt like I could be so creative and versatile at the same time! Being able to completely modify terrain and dig shortcuts to otherwise hallways that were a chore to sprint through that were helpful to both me and my team felt otherwordly satisfying! I love Driller so so much it's my most played class right next to Engineer. They're both a blast to use and I'm thankful for your guide to enlighten me on some tricks that I had no idea about! Rock and Stone!
I did learn a thing or two in this vid. I've beeing playing since 2018 and my fav classes were Engi and Driller. I new most of the things you told like spiral drilling but the drill save or that drill would do in huge gaps. And the perks to take too, I belive in you in all of them. I had to change to drill damage after this vid.
Seeing driller make a path back to the drop pod at the end of a lengthy mission is just the thing that made me start playing him. I'm so glad I did, as I used to be a scout main and I am now enjoying having myriad choices for bug slaughter, and not just having to run back to my gunner buddy to get things killed. Rock and Stone brother!
21:40 Impact Axes do good dmg against ebonite glyphids while they still remain retrievable. Great combo with cryo driller, because you can freeze them. I don't know if this was a thing at the time of this video, just a note.
Honestly though, this was such a wonderful way to learn more on the drills. I started off playing engineer, then started to learn each of the other roles as well. Eventually settled on Driller for the most part just because of all the interesting implications his drills have, I remember when this video came out
Using dash to cross a distance high up into a wall to then use the drills to "catch you" making a route along the ceiling. Making little tunnels in the Dreadnaught missions to sneak into for cover, the cave's your canvas
10:20 is big for me, i hard carry my team all the time and have problems with reviving them when they are in diffrent cave systems or surrounded by enemies, i never thought of this, very nice!
20:11 - Do NOT just drill tunnels for cover arround the caretaker. They become death traps during the barrier wave attack. Make sure you dig the tunnels at a fair distance. (I sadly don't know how far the barrier attack reaches ATM, and it's not on the wiki)
Drill holes in a checkerboard configuration to slow enemy pathfinding, catch flares, minerals and grenades if you plan on camping for longer periods in one area.
17:30 at this point a tip to make after about 1k hours is take an engi with you on missions if you can. They can patch holes you make allowing you to drop the fuel cells inside the bunker giving you a bigger radius to work with. You can also dig under the uplink and patch the hole. Have escape planned tho cuz oppressors and bulks can break in.
I’m a dedicated gunner player, and whenever a driller drills straight to the dropship, I always watch his back the entire way without even thinking twice
Rock & Stone!
This is the way gunner brother. Rock and Stone.
Suppressive fire.
Is nice
I did it by instinct (and free kills and no dwarf left behind)
From a professional and dedicated driller, it’s you fellow dwarfs that make us thrive.
For those looking to optimize ebonut collection, use impact axes. They instantly get rid of the shell, and you can pick them back up.
Good to know!
oh damn really? another point for impact axes!
drills are better cause u don't have to chase a recoil'd impact axe nor aoe urself at close range.
The axes can also damage ebonite glyphids, which can be helpful in some cases even if they get used up
When accompanying Doretta, bring the rippers.
By throwing them orthogonally at the walls of the caves she leaves behind, it'll continuously spin around, killing most Glyphids that try to enter instantly, leaving only the bigger ones like Praetorians and flying enemies.
I had no idea drills had an absurd 10,000% armor breaking aspect to them :o
they cut through armor smoother then butter
@@tam_69420 less like a hot knife through butter and more like a rocket through a sheet of paper.

Also, try drilling to 12 with your drill setup. It requires you to stop holding the button as you hear the 12 terrain break and your drill will hit 100%, but not overheat.

Drill the ceilings and throw C4 to the top. It damages in all phases
Not just the bots: the tentacles also immediately retract when you get them to ignite.

So I jump to 4:25, and it's actually helping. Sometimes, a visual demonstration is what you need to see, and you're putting together clear examples without going too fast or too slow. Thank you
Thank you very much! Glad I could help!
This guide goes down as cold beer after a long dive.
Helpful and entertaining.
Thank you!!
Incredibly well done vid. Been playing for 3 years and honestly learned a lot.
Thank you!!
11:10 I'm crying
Great videos man! So much effort!
Thank you!! Rock & Stone!
I may be a scout main but i think this is helpful since even i play miner every now and then, you've earned a sub from this dwarf, rock and stone!
Great, very informative, cool editing
bonus points for using my favourite ambient theme in the game.
Rock & Stone, my friend!
Loved that intro! You earned a subscriber before I even saw the video.
I still watch your guide videos religiously despite me being almost rank 400 and not necessarily learning anything from them. They have great entertainment value !
Thank you!!
Drill: "and it's also the only traversal tool that can be used as a weapon"
Pickaxe: "Am I a joke to you?"
I love your sense of humour and the level of research put into explaining things perfectly. You remind me of Karl !
About the drilling down saving manover:
"If you pull up a ledge you take no fall dmg and reset your momentum." But because the Script that DRG uses for updating voxels and terrain is so inconcistent it can not realy be pulled of reliably. Just pray that you will dig the moment you hit the ground and the created hole is exactly in the angle to climb it.
playing driller is like being a barber, you want to smooth out the haircuts as much as possible to be aesthetically pleasing
For the drill save, I think you need to have the "Rock Knock" Apply during the same tick as you land.
Best guide out there. Amazing work on the video. Mad respect.
Thank you!!
I love how almost every Driller main story begins when thinking "could I drill straight to the Drop Pod?" haha
That was me in my first mission, I revive my friend, drilled to the Drop Pod and we barely made it out alive, at zero seconds left.
Another thing that I love about Driller is doing an On Site Refining, and making the best tunnels in the world (in my mind at least haha), straight road from the refinery to the pumpjacks, one time, one of them made a perfect path to hacking an enemy tower
Just got my second Driller promotion a few hours ago; between my two groups of friends who I play the game with, I'm the only Driller and that makes me feel more special B)
7:25 - 8:16 I HAVE PROMOTED 13 TIMES ON DRILLER AND NOW YOU TELL I CAN DO THIS!!!! thank you and R&S
Best Guide I have seen for DRG Driller. ROCK & STONE ⛏
Thank you! Put this out before the most recent update. Might have to do a followup with tips for the new events!
Nothing like a last minute search and rescue when a teammate gets downed or gets stuck getting back to the drop pod
Damn!! That was a good intro!
saw your bunkie video and now I'm here
you have my attention
Welcome!

Had an idea for a very slight micro optimization, dig the exit tunnel almost to the drop pods predicted ramp would be. Then end the tunnel with a satchel. The moment the refueling is complete. Blow the charge and beeline for the pod.
Buff the flare gun
This was an amazing video about using the drills more dynamically.
I just stumbled upon this video and wow I am amazed at the versatility of this class, I'm a greenbeard so will try the driller more now.
Good job with the edit! It makes the educational video super fun to watch. 👍👍👍
Just watched this video and I'd never thought to use the EPC TCF for terraforming things connected to the ceiling. This video really has something for everyone.
When a driller main realizes they have free will for the first time they immediately drill to the drop pod
Rock and Stone!
god this is so much more usefull than i expected to be! thank you man
Happy to help!
very creative intro by the way, got a good laugh out of me
😉
The intro was amazing
The amount of useful information in this video is insane. Driller 4 Life.
This is my first time noticing the angle meter. Worth a watch just for that.
As a Driller main I very much appreciate this! Ty for this guide!
Happy to help!
this is an incredibly well done vidja
Thank you my friend!
21:40 Impact Axes do good dmg against ebonite glyphids while they still remain retrievable. Great combo with cryo driller, because you can freeze them. I don't know if this was a thing at the time of this video, just a note.
19:30 heat build flamethrower is the only thing i use for industrial sabotoge because overheats instakill bots. Very usefull on the annoying arms
Can i just say, this was awesome!
You may! Thank you!!
Great video! Not a driller much, but will share this video with my friends who do.
Thank you for sharing!
Wow, that's a lot to try out, man i love this game! The jump looks thrilling... and dangerous.
Now i need to go try the bunker strategies!
Missed opportunity to say "My Digger" instead of "My Dwarf" but I'll overlook it because this video is so helpful
10:20 is big for me, i hard carry my team all the time and have problems with reviving them when they are in diffrent cave systems or surrounded by enemies, i never thought of this, very nice!
Great way to clear a downed teammate! Engi's prox mines work well, too.
I just recently started , and Driller had immediately charmed me by the ability to not bend to the whims of the generated map
20:11 - Do NOT just drill tunnels for cover arround the caretaker.
They become death traps during the barrier wave attack.
Make sure you dig the tunnels at a fair distance.
(I sadly don't know how far the barrier attack reaches ATM, and it's not on the wiki)
This is a well made and useful driller guide
Here I thought I knew everything about terraforming but an excellent tip is opening up the ceiling!
Great guide... Video is very entertaining and informative from the start to the end. Keep up the good work. Good Luck. :-)
Thank you my friend!
If anyone wants to see I may make a video
Uber n00b here to DRG. I must say, your vids are REALLY well done and informative. Thank you.
0:15 yes if you heal after last standing with iron will you stay alive. vampire can save your team.
