Hi, I would like to thank you very much for all the effort and time you put into making all of your videos. I've just started learning the world of gemology, so your video is very useful to me, and to those who are a beginner in this field. once again, thank you very much.
You are right but usually those blue spot in Be treated stone are located around crystal inclusion inside the corundum. They are cocking the stones at very hight temperature like from 1600 to 1900º Celsius and this will leave some typical trace. Send me an email I'll post you a file with typical pictures of Be treated corundum and you'll see the difference. Check on the web about the Winza Ruby under Images. You'll see some of those characteristic stones with blue spots from Winza.
Nice description of each gemstone & its inclusions. Many synthetics & composites are passed as naturals, not to meantioned the treatments that many natural may be subjected to passed as having no treatments.
All gemologist are working with those books from Gübelin and Koivula. They are a bit expensive but very good information. There is new iBook now where you can find a lot of information too: the handbook of gemmology handbookofgemmology.com can be downloaded too.
The most valuable place on earth "the grave" for all the knowledge that is lost but thanks to Olivier and TH-cam we can still learn something new I just wish you had more time on earth to share more with us brother REST IN PEACE :(
For the second part:" And diffusion ruby usually show blue flash effect about the material filled in cavities". I think you are mistaken. Be is diffusion treatment and you can NOT see the material as filling in cavity. The Be is getting inside the crystal lattice as particle and you can't see it even with a powerful stereoscope. To detect Be treatment you need this: Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Usually, blue flash will be seen when the corundum have been filled with glass!
Hi thank you for this informative video, I have a question.. in 18:58 you show a natural corundum (ruby) with blue dots, and you said that is natural, but blue flash and blue dots inclusion cannot be an indication of beryllium diffusion treatment? I saw some black spot on yellow sapphire treated with beryllium.... And diffusion ruby usually show blue flash effect about the material filled in cavities. Thanks
Hello great video very informative and your English if fine don’t worry and do you have any research done with Alexandrite showing natural and synthetic could you please do a video thank you
I'm sorry to announce that my brother Olivier Louy passed away few weeks ago. His lab located to Mexico City will close soon and his TH-cam channel will not get any other updates. Regards, Vincent
