Yes it is, but they have the "policy of non-intervention related to the natural occurrences of free-ranging animals ... People begged them to intervene but they didn't .. You gotta remember it's not up to the guides it's up to the land aka Reserve owner ..

Lions do know their own cubs by smell. Saw one video where pride of lions found a cub and they knew it wasn't theirs and cub knew also.
