Hey certainly worthwhile info, great, thanks that u guys out there are posting stuff for people like me who have never faced a capsize situation, thats useful stuff, we all need to be reminded about, from time to time. May you live long and prosper.
I have an aluminum Grumman, when trying to recover from a capsize it holds a lot of water when rolled back upright. Is this the canoe or something I'm doing wrong?
Probably both. It isn't just the material but also the shape of the canoe and your ability to break any suction created by the water. Trying to flip a canoe by yourself in open water is super challenging. Paddle with other folks and learn the T rescue.
I immediately noticed the bow person not feathering her blade as she moved to the "reach" position, which she also missed. The constant carrying of the paddle forward as she did will lead to fatigue and soreness in the shoulders.

It really is a easily explained simple canoeing basic reference. I am using your link when organizing trip(s). Thank you!
Some beautiful shots in this vid.
I know I'm a year late but I can't tell if this is being creepy or legit
The best video for beginners out there so far!
Thanks, very helpful.
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
They should also say the bow person is the "eyes" of the canoe, especially paddling streams or water with lots of hazards.
Great point
Thank you very much for this video
Thanks great job 👍🇨🇦
another way that i was taught for canoeing is that the heaviest person sit in the back because it lifts up the front more and make it easier to turn.
Great explanations. Thank you!

Nice video
Literally almost had an aneurysm with the music in the beginning, I was wearing ear buds lmao
San Antonio you’ve never lied!
Thanks 👍🇨🇦
is it possible that both just sit instead of knelling?
Yup. That's not a problem. You have more control when kneeling, but much more comfort sitting.
@@PaddleTV thanks :)

The title is misleading. This video explains very, very little on how to paddle a canoe.
Yeah, pretty useless video. Showing how to rescue a canoe when there is another canoe with you was just silly.
Did you really just come on here and post that...
@@IMP3TIGO This is actually a very useful tip if you capsize
There are multiple videos in this series which explain other aspects of canoeing if you are interested in learning more.
@@wardyboy26 came here to learn how to paddle a canoe...and there was very little information on how to paddle a canoe.
noice
👊🏾🙏
Came up new idea electric canoes
Cool video except for the fact that there’s no instructions on paddling, i.e. techniques, etc.
Why can’t they just say front or back paddler 🤦♂️
but you didn't teach how to paddle? also, beginners don't know what the word "stern" means.
