And it's so interesting how people hate on indie productions with so much effort but are silent when it comes to big companies. Indie creators are much easier to reach on the internet, so I guess that makes an easy target for people with no lives or aspirations. Digital Circus's popularity proves folks don't want preachy sermons, just something fun they can tune into.
Considering Glitch Studios already had a quite successful animated series - "Murder Drones", anticipations and announcements for TADC has been made across the time. The fan base is already huge, so the traction is fast enough to be pushed into general TH-cam algorithm for public audience to see.

@@loafeebuttery The main problem is that characterization is still important. There were numerous other ways to give more personality and character to Pomni while retaining the somewhat more logical actions she performs during the pilot, the fact that didn't happen is a travesty. To the degree where near the end of the pilot I had zero investment in pomni at all, her scenes became boring and tiring all revolving around that existential element, which while logical is overbearing to the point where it already became predictable and stale. I ended up caring more about the side characters and their adventures. I don't think the issue was with her actions in the pilot, those are fine but more how they are shown and what was given focus. There was no need to have close shots every single time pomni would return from any of her events to show a kubric stare, her declining sanity and stress was already clearly established and lead to the stale and predictable feeling I had with her scenes. Sadly this has just lead to a result where the main character of a pilot is by far the least developed and someone who I cannot engage with in any meaningful way. She may be human, but what else? In general the show is a 7/10, it's good but I just think it misses out on some key elements that made the pilot end on a more unsatisfying note rather than one of anticipation.
Speaking as Caine’s voice actor, when dealing with any fandom it’s also just possible to… like, ignore certain parts of it? So far I’ve just kind of been checking out the fanart; I find it’s usually a choice to engage in drama and the “cringier” parts of fandom, unless of course there’s actual danger to a person’s life. That’s all to say, I agree 100% that the “fandom problem” really isn’t that big a deal. And yeah - it’s perfectly alright to feel however you do about TADC, like it or not… just don’t harass anyone over it.

Yeah, I'm just worried the show was specifically made to garner a large fandom in order to sell merch. I like it and have nothing against the fandom (hell, I bought the Caine pin lol), but the whole thing just feels kind of inauthentic, especially since the merch was advertised so fast, almost like it was planned to garner a huge following. I mean it does have a lot of similarities to indie properties that blew up in a similar way and covers a lot of tropes that's popular among the average TikTok or Tumblr user. It feels like it's hitting a bunch of checkboxes and I'm worried they'll sacrifice artistic integrity for the sake of pushing sales/sticking to the formula. We can only wait and see I guess
@@tomewifecollector9608it’s because the pilot SPECIFICALLY was of structured to gain a following, JUST like murder drones. Shows off the story, characters, and world in a very endearing way that made people run up to it and just beam (and I say this as a person who is OBSESSED with it currently). In order to jump start a show, there HAS to be support for it. Remember, glitch productions, although indie, CAN’T make shows without money, just as any brand does. The point of a pilot is to have it all laid out to SEE if people will watch, and considering it’s Glitch’s most popular video right now, almost at A HUNDRED MILLION VIEWS, you can tell people are pretty fuckin’ interested. It’s no doubt that merch coming out almost immediately is rather inauthentic, but that’s because this stuff is PLANNED. The only reason why Glitch is able to be Glitch at all is because they’ve got mastermind marketers and writers who are capable of making stuff like this happen. Also, the trailer came out about a month before the episode actually came which led people to go bonkers, so they probably prepared all that stuff after people lost their minds from the trailer. It is an interesting, quirky world, with lots of mysteries, suspense and different characters. Not only that, but theres only a pilot, meaning that there wont be any new content anytime soon, which compels people to create and make headcanons for the world (aka people naming purple guy vincent and making... art of him back when fnaf 1 and 2 got popular) as a way of providing new content. Not only that, but the horror atmosphere is pretty well done. We feel unsettled because, despite being in a wacky world, the characters are anything but. They seem grounded, since they're real humans, and this world is "digital" and "fake", which only helps to unsettle the viewer.
*They're like:* "Clearly this character was made for the perverse sexual gratification of a divergent group of degenerate individuals!" *And it's like:* "It's a bubble with shark teeth; are you okay?"

It’s hilarious that people on social media will tell others to support indie animation outside of mainstream, but the moment one becomes extremely successful, it’s suddenly treated as the worst thing ever. Typical twitter.
I'm not sure if this is a thing with the fans but I know in the video game industry indie devs look away from other indie devs who become real successful while still being looked down by AAA companies
Most normal people I've seen liked the pilot or thought it was unique and charming in its own way even if they didn't like it personally much, but they can also recognize that the fanbase of it just straight up speedran becoming obnoxious and insufferable faster than ever. Also I found it hilarious that people were complaining about the fandom days after the pilot released . Like the fandom hasn’t had time to anchor itself into existence yet and people were already preemptively whining about it.
I totally agree, the other thing I found funny was that people already had completely formed opinions about every character (especially Jax) despite it being the first episode as if the show and characters are completely solid and cannot change lol

As a mature, adult fan of Indie Animation I found TADC to be one of the more competent pilots I’ve seen. It moved at a good pace, had incredibly solid voice talent, animation, and music, and had an interesting if not overly complex plot and theme. The fact that people are so up in arms about something so…fine, is just strange to me.
People want it to be bad fr. They see that it has a Tumblr aesthetic and they say "omg I bet it has a toxic fandom" and then comb through twitter to find the worst people and platform them
As another mature adult, I'd say there's a lot of potential in this show. But the jokes didn't really land, the writing is lacking in that they tell and don't SHOW us, not really leaving much to imagination. It has the animation going for it but that's about it. The show feels awkwardly paced, too many awkward silences, and if I took a shot every time Pomni makes this face 😳🤯😱 I'd be dead before halfway through. I don't feel any attachment to the characters, especially not Pomni since she seems very two dimensional despite being animated in 3D, and her voice actress tries way too hard. I don't feel the sense of insanity along with her since it's only been two hours of her being in there and she's already like
It's incredibly frustrating for me when most of the hate is poured out on independent productions when large productions with huge budgets are drastically worse.
Personally i just dont like it bc the textures are ugly to me. Nothing to do with the show itself, I just hate how the characters look. I prefer 2D animation. Got nothing to do with popularity.
Personally I like that Pomni has “flaws” in her character design which makes her the more HUMAN (kinda ironic if u have heard some of those theories of being a duplicate or part of a program or whatever to get a good final result or what not idk how to explain it) and it gives the character more room to grow and less of the stereotypically perfect protagonist with an amazing heart, stupidly brave and self sacrificial for no reason persona and just makes pomni just more of a literally normal person before getting in that situation

The more you interact and show emotion fuels them more, they're like internet demons haha. But really make sure to never take any of those insults to heart, cause if you do you're letting them win.
I thought this pilot was great, mainly because it gave us the general stuff to know, but not spoil the entire show, AND STILL MADE SOME OF US QUESTION THINGS. This was Pomni’s FIRST day so that’s why they didn’t add that many horror elements because they were too busy showing you the main plot and stuff, yet still leaving some questions for later episodes. In 2-3 more episodes, they will probably start actually getting onto some of the lore after they show us the aftermath of the pilot pretty much.

I think a major reason this got so popular was because it’s clear the creators had a great time making it. The interactions between characters so far is mostly light hearted and playing off simple fun humor, the character designs are really unique and memorable, the imagination used to create the pilot’s situation. It’s clear there’s actual passion and love put into this project, yeah it would be better if characters did more than stand around and talk but this is just the pilot, a lot will probably be changed as the show evolves and the writers will most likely delve into darker storylines.
Honestly I liked how much these characters talked because even though you could argue it's exposition, that's what it's meant to be, you don't go into a show at the second episode not understanding who the characters are or their personalities in some respect. Some kind of standard needs to be set if you don't want the characters to feel empty What I *can* argue is near the beginning, it felt a little long winded but everything that came after felt fine for the most part

I've been doing my best to appreciate cartoons for what they are, offering my criticism, and sticking with what I like the most. And I love the amazing digital circus! It's right up my alley for silly cartoons with fun animation and an interesting enough premise. And although I do like to see fanart and memes, the part of fandom culture that I just can't stand are people taking everything so SERIOUSLY. Who are we kidding here? These fanbases often have kids who make it their whole personality for like a month and adults who are very bad at articulating their feelings about it. I swear to god sometimes I just feel like parts of the internet need to just calm down. Or touch grass or something idk.
This entire statement summarizes my personal experiences with, alongside my feelings and general outlook on fandom culture. After Steven Universe, which was my first experience with fandoms, had come to a close, I'd isolated myself from its fandom entirely, only interacting with a small percentage of it, and not a very friendly one at that, on occasion before moving on indefinitely. Lessons were learned, for sure, and I came out the other side better off because of it. I'm currently residing within the very friendly Lackadaisy fandom. They seem like a very motley crowd, but I've also found them quite mature. Even the younger members conduct themselves with respect. Bear in mind, however, these are my personal experiences on the official Discord server. I don't use Twitter/X, so I can't speak for that section. Regardless, I'm glad everything worked out in the end, and, like you, I'm content to simply enjoy art on its own, rather than valuing it purely based on public discourse/perception.
Honestly both of you summarized why I just watch shows and ignore being a part of any fanbase and going on any social media sites unless I really want to. It’s a shame too since I like a lot of these indie shows and games it’s just oh boy the fandom is it’s own breed I must say

Kevin Temmer is the lead animator. Glitch Productions is the production studio producing the show. This is 100% an 'Um, achkshually 🤓' comment, but it's still important to give proper credit to the creatives behind the show.
As for why Glitch called this episode a pilot, it's because the show still isn't fully funded and they are going to fund it with the revenue from the video and the merch (mostly, I guess Glitch will fund a pretty good part of it seeing how popular the show got)
Pretty sad how that even needs to be explained since it was obvious that episode was just a demonstration of what the show's going to be like. It's like how the first episode of Hazbin will be completely different from the pilot besides a few keynotes.
I can't wait for the post-cringe phase for this show to happen in a year, where everyone will pretend like they've never hated it, and were fans from the beginning.
This is why I'm glad I do the best I can to be as genuine as possible because having a mentality where you deny your true feelings, or act like you never had those feelings, is a sad and exhausting mentality to have.
Yeah. Being in quite a few fandoms, I really realized there is a certain cycle to how fandoms behave. Something new is coming out -> It becomes incredibly popular -> Fandom becomes completely wild: toxicity and weird stuff ensue -> Popularity, as well as toxicity reaches its peak -> fandom gradually chills out (often because toxic people already hopped on the next big thing) and becomes relatively pleasant. It's really better to hop into the fandom sometime after its peak. Yeah, weird stuff still occasionally ensues, but it's not nearly as bad. As examples, I can give: Undertale Fandom or MLP fandom.
Tbh I think at this point the best strategy for the people behind TADC can use is to artificially create nonsense drama to speed through the fandom cycle and get to the point everything's chill again
Jax is totally going to be the sarcastic ""edgy"" troll character whom the Tumblr crowd is never going to shut up about despite being as original and funny as a washcloth isn't he
look i know it looks bad with my profile picture but you have to believe me when i say it happens to every single character in a popular fandom ever. sometimes one part of fandom is just louder than the rest. hell i've seen more fans of hinger among my friends and community than jax, directly contradicting the obvious. its a matter of looking in the right place
I swear he reminds me of a few characters I've seen before. Like down to his actual design, the personality, even the voice just screams "tumblr sexyman" but more niche, like Sans. (I can't believe I'm saying this)
I think he’s INTENDED to be a tumblr sexyman, however he’s been confirmed to become a fuckin horrible person as the show progresses, which will show how far Tumblr really is willing to go. I wish there was tumblr sexyman version for women that was just as popular though! Like Pomni would be a perfect candidate but Jax is the one getting all the love.
As someone who was hyped for the show for months before it came out I saw it coming from a mile away. I’m not surprised the show blew up AT ALL and honestly I love seeing all the fanarts and memes of it on the good side. Every fandom has a bad side after all
Yeah! Ever since the first tease I had a gut feeling this was gonna become one of the most popular indie pilots out there. Though even the popularity of this has been surprising to me. I would've expected the Amazing Digital Circus to land around the same number of views as Lackadaisy, which has around 11 million views right now, but this just went above and beyond at rocket speed! Heck its probably the most popular pilot on TH-cam right now that wasn't spearheaded Vivziepop.
5 stages if Twitter 1. Acknowledge the existence of the content 2. Make stupid posts to spread hate 3. Make stupid posts to spread hate 4. Make stupid posts to defend themselves 5. Realize their attempt is an absolute failure just like their bloodline.
Same thing here. I have some friends that gets really annoyed by any popular thing showed in their info field humongous ammount of time that they will get sick of it and will automaticaly start to avoid it, therefore ended up don't liking it because they have never given a chanse to experience a show or any other project without some dramatically diffrent takes about it showing of from another peoples perspectives before. I don't want to talk about this show with anyone because I looked it up in first two hours of plot being uploaded on youtube and now fandom creates certain expectations about the show for other people that are just not really want to deal with rich fandom, expectations, drammas, quality bargains and other stuff that really do not affect end up product at all. I can't say show is good or bad. It's decient because of it's animation and stuff, yeah it have some flaws as well but it's just a first "Plot". I got hooked up to Glitch with Murder Drones being really not funny, not well-animated but with interesting meta-commentary and worldbuilding and you know what? Last episoded got it all and now this is a really nice show to watch and get relaxed in it's own unique way. My thoughts about DC are the same. It's raw and will be medium-rare and then well-done soon. Person being traped in a digital dimention is interesting concept within an animated show with or without a "dark theme" behind it and I hope developers will work with characters and show itself - not only the fanbase behind it that will take it cool sooner or later.
Same, as someone who saw undertale blow up and has stuck with smg4 since the dudes channels literal birth. Seeing this blow up also got an "Uh oh" from me.
The specter of toxic fandoms and cringe culture have become so overwhelming that a show having a fandom at all online is enough to drive fear and paranoia in most, and I think that’s sad.
You hit it right on the nail. We have folded in so many layers of irony that to watch a show is the greatest crime and liking it is worse because then it becomes a fandom. And now people are living a self fulfilling profecy as fast as possible. They have to ruin the show as fast as possible, and they have to hate the show as fast as possible.
Well, there's that and bad faith actors looking to subvert it from the inside. Considering gaming and anime as of late and how those have completely went face-down into the ocean just in the span of ten years, I'd say between that and the things you mentioned, there's something to be said about that. Doing the minimum by keeping haters from attempting to subvert things for their own gain is to be expected. To me, that kind of gatekeeping is far from the "You aren't a fan unless you've consumed x number of things" strawman that people use to guilt others into being vulnerable.
This is exactly why I dont even bother joining fandoms anymore. I just watch what I like and follow some artists and Im all good. Dont need my braincells dying from fandom cancer.
Aye, that is how you need to do things now. Fandoms are cancer. Learned that when I was a preteen and getting into supernatural when it first aired. Holy shit that fandom was toxic.
Yeah, at this point I think I’m better off just enjoying any given piece of media by myself, maybe chatting about it with people I know irl who also like it. I’ve managed to avoid the real crazy fandoms but even so it never seems to end up as a net positive.
man it’s so silly how the gooseworx confirmed the ages of the characters and how they don’t have genitalia i hope nothing bad comes from said confirmation
Well she already know about internet even when trailer come there a lot of rule 34 are there now ep 1 now there more like even 800 more arts come out 💀
im kind of glad they confirmed the characters ages to be honest. when i first watched it i thought pomni was a minor so seeing the amount of 'interesting' art was upsetting. when i found out she was 25 i breathed a sigh of relief
I personally only just got into watching this pilot, knowing it's a pilot which automatically clicks to me as "rough draft", and so far... I was so impressed by how well it played out, enough to be rewatchable... More times than I'm willing to admit. (I may just rewatch it again because I just can't help it, lol.) It does a lot of things right from how it feels _to me_ as somebody who thinks in storyboards and design and though it's only a rough draft, it really nails a lot of things right off the bat. Does that mean it can't get any better? Ooohhh I hope that's NOT the case because I'm sure it can be better or at least have enough to engage me even if it doesn't blow me away. Latter point doesn't really matter when it mostly works. So when I hear about the fandom being somewhat of a trainwreck and then the way-too-loud-than-should-be-even-allowed "popular = bad" people start cropping up at an unusually disturbing rate (then again, I find it disturbing at all that this problem is suddenly skyrocketing so fast with a creator who's actually dead-set on trying to keep it together when they don't necessarily have to), I just... Feel indifferent to it, honestly. What they're all doing is obviously stupid and this is just... Normal at this point for a lot of indie stuff, much like you pointed out. Thing is, if we really enjoy something, then everyone else's opinion citing _their problems_ with it... Kinda just disappears off the radar. If there's something worth experiencing, let alone talking about, people will inevitably leave behind the idiocy where it stands and enjoy what they came for no matter how much time that takes to happen.
the fact that gooseworx said "if the fandom is bad, i'm gonna make the show bad" just goes to show she was likely expecting this lol. which sucks because it's a cool premise and i really really like all of the characters, can't hate a single one of them. edit: i am dense, she was joking lmfao. still the fact that she expected a bad fandom is making me giggle. (dont slander me too much, i only heard abt the "bad fandom = bad show" thing from a friend)
She don't need to ruin it over the Fandom there's still some people who want a decent show plus it will kind of make that stuff less enjoyable for the writer. Idk I just hope the Fandom don't have control over where her show will go
THANK YOU for pointing out it isn't necessarily supposed to be scary. Most of the time people like to try and say it's bad because it fails at being scary but it never really felt like it was trying to be. At it's core it's a comedy with dark themes.
indeed, I'm all for valid criticism as it helps products improve but saying the show that advertised itself as a dark comedy is bad because it isn't scary enough isn't very helpful
Also, everyone says that the amazing digital circus is supposed to be for adults, no one ever said it was for adults, glitch makes shows for teens, Which just shows Twitter's ability to look up things
The thing that I enjoy most about the digital circus is not participating or reading in any of the discourse and just enjoying the main work and its fan art. You have the option as a conscience individual to not engage mentally with drama xD
I genuinely wish people would send the hatred (not criticism, but purely unfounded hatred) of popular indie cartoons to major studios who are riding off of their name *cough* disney *cough* instead of creating original ideas. digital circus is visually stunning, and while the pilot leaves things to be desired, i think it could be great, and i just pray to god it doesnt crash and burn at the hands of internet discourse
One of the things that really gets to be when people talk about pilots is when they say “There’s no development to the characters at all!” Well no shit! It’s the pilot! The cast isn’t going to go through a ton of development in one 25-30 minute pilot! As a wittier this stuff really ticks me off. Projects will always have flaws, but so many people treat even the smallest flaws like their the worst thing ever (When a show like Big Mouth exists)
And also, the Pilot definitely sets up clear room for the characters to improve and gives you a good idea of their flaws; WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT A PILOT IS SUPPOSED TO DO HERE!
And the worst is that the opposite version is true. Just from the pilot, people will say the show is a true master piece when it has just began. The other day, I saw someone explaining how Gangle was an extremely good representation of depression and how often you would your sadness behind a happiness Mask. I don't say the thing about depression is wrong, (idk much about this sadly), however saying Gangle is a representation of that is clearly false when Gangle entire personnality in the pilot is "I am sad cuz my mask is broken". So, you have people you have people over reacting about the show having flaws in two ways possible. Either the show is absolute trash to them, or it's perfect and you're the one creating flaws according to them...
I’m just happy to see an actual Gooseworx production, just the quirky nature of her art style and music coming to fruition got me so excited! It’s a shame that some people are already trying to shoot it down just because it’s getting positive attention. I really just hope Gooseworx doesn’t get any serious clout because of this.
You have explained all of my concerns way better than I could I love shows and things like this but I hate when it’s popularity kills it and the creators feed into the parts that makes casual fans cringe like immediately merch dumping, hinting at stuff for tumblr fans to go nuts to and worst of all… nfts
Yeah, the immediate merch dump was a big red flag for me. I bought some merch since I want to support it, but I'm worried that the show might have been manufactured to specifically appeal the general indie demographic in order to garner a large following and in turn sell merch. It hits a lot of checkboxes that indie properties that blew up in a similar way have, and I'm worried the show will lean more into that and sacrifice artistic integrity for the sake of sales/sticking to the formula
@@tomewifecollector9608 yeah I was lucky enough to catch the pilot on day 2 but I was so worried for it when I looked up what’s the plan for it and got all the SUPER fans
@@pageclayton6850that’s fair, but if you’ve ever looked into game development that’s actually how 3D environments are rendered. I get where you’re coming from though
@@pageclayton6850I feel like that's kind of the point, the story even tells us that Caine makes little adventures and stuff for them, and he makes everything there, and it is a digital world which means it's in theory limited by like file size and stuff, so it makes sense that the world would kind of revolve around the characters in a way, it could also be making reference to like ... how in video games and stuff you only animate what the audience will see because the rest is just a waste of time and effort
Honestly Jax and Caine carried the pilot in my opinion. Caine's "I'm trying my best" energy is endearing and Jax's perfect balance of assholery and comedy has gotten the same reaction from everyone I've shown the pilot, that being "he's an ass, but I love him." Edit: a name
Nah fam, you can’t tell me that Kinger isn’t the goat. Look at his unhinged looking ass, his decency considering how long he’s been in the world and the potential lore around his queen. He is the goat.
I would say that while yes some are kind of over-hyping it and I personally had issues with it, it's also ONLY a pilot. And for a pilot I thought that while it was mostly just set-up, it did a decent job and set-up is kinda of the main point of a pilot. I'm waiting to see if the issues I have with it will get ironed out (like the pacing of the build up and the comedy being a little more prevalent for longer than it needed to be). Until then, I advise everyone to chill out before they start Ssniperwolfing each other.
I mean, everyone is so calm and not problematic, I think we need someone who can start some problems or extend ones, someone who will go Left when everyone goes right because he thinks it would be funny, jax is funny, a Chaotic bastard and kinda necessary And we like it
Idk what goes in the delicate heads of people who complain about shit like that, especially when it ends with "😭". Idk, maybe teletubbies is the right show for them.

As someone who's been in fandom since she was 11 (9 years and counting) I'm always amazed at how sensitive fandom has gotten. Shit that we casually joked about less than a decade ago we now hate with a burning passion for seemingly no reason It's both really funny and really sad
Just rewatched Friendship is Witchcraft on TH-cam It's the perfect example of what I'm saying here They constantly joke about abusing and hating Spike, they hate Pinkie Pie for being a witch (full on calling her a slur and everything), when she's actually just a very traumatized pony, and they joke about drugs and murder in the dragon episode These things were ok back then, but if FiW came out today, I GUARANTEE the creators would be cancelled, not just on Twitter, but Internet-wide. FiW is still a good series tho, highly recommend
@@bonnietelocole6777 This might be an unpopular opinion but people who are so violently anti shipping/shippers weird me out. @@SupHapCak Exactly! It's not that we condone these taboo topics either, it's just that we know from history that banning any topic in media will always be a slippery slope to banning ANYTHING that's deemed immoral, and sadly, many still include LGBT and POC folk in that. Banning topics is also a golden ticket to censorship and control that can only ever get out of hand and hurt innocent people. Antis are causing more harm than good, and a lot of the time aren't even realizing it. That's why tagging and warnings are such a big deal, everything else has failed us, so warning for things and hoping people won't get hurt is kinda the best we can do.

It’s got such a warm feel to it and I just love it with all my heart. I am so proud and grateful Matt started it up again
As much as I love the Amazing Digital Circus, I will admit, it does make me relieved to hear that popularity isn't everything. Especially since I'm an artist myself, and sometimes I fear that when I do eventually make some kind of indie series of my own in the future, I worry that it might get overlooked and nobody ends up seeing it.
This is just the Undertale effect. It grows so big people hate it due to how big it is, and they want to stop seeing it.

It’s sad and true. And I hate it :,) but I’m glad the rest of the fandom is not like that.
Exactly, loud minorities are everywhere and are often the loudest voices since drama and quick controversies spread much faster than reasonable thoughts and statements. We live in a world of sensationalism, where truth and reason is thrown straight out the window in favour of what causes the craziest reaction.
Though my own comment here might be a bit much when the discussion is about a cartoon where people get isekai'd into an early 2000's PC game.

the loud mob only appears once something gets too mainstream

After a while you start to see the same types of bad actors in every fandom and you just learn how to avoid them.
And yeah - it’s perfectly alright to feel however you do about TADC, like it or not… just don’t harass anyone over it.

(Also, the teaser from about a year ago, that too).

That's gonna happen in any fandom that gets this popular anyways though so can't really hate a fandom for doing fandom things. I was very relieved when I found out all of the characters were adults though otherwise that would've been a bit dodgy😭
Some kind of standard needs to be set if you don't want the characters to feel empty
What I *can* argue is near the beginning, it felt a little long winded but everything that came after felt fine for the most part
lol. Its popular because its pushed to little kids. 8 year old kids who are left on there iPads are the reason it’s this huge. Not saying adults don’t watch it but the answer is kids. It’s pushed towards kifs

And yet they are more fun to watch than half on TV right now.
It's weird, I feel like I've distanced myself from most of fandom culture by now, especially after steven universe. I just like cartoons, I like art, and I want to appreciate it. But no one can step back for a moment and acknowledge that it's JUST a piece of media, it's open to criticism and anyone is allowed to like it or love it.

To me, that kind of gatekeeping is far from the "You aren't a fan unless you've consumed x number of things" strawman that people use to guilt others into being vulnerable.

not really even before the piloy that 'art' was being made the ages just confirmed that the characters where of legal age
Goodeworx has stated they dont care about the rule 34, what they do care about is people being toxic and hateful towards eachother

THIS. They'll preach about how flaws are ok until there are actual flaws
And also, the Pilot definitely sets up clear room for the characters to improve and gives you a good idea of their flaws; WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT A PILOT IS SUPPOSED TO DO HERE!
It's like people don't know how episodic shows work.
Exactly! Like they really be thinking there's going to be a villian arc, redemption arc, and fully thought out characters from a literal PILOT
I’m just happy to see an actual Gooseworx production, just the quirky nature of her art style and music coming to fruition got me so excited! Yeah, the immediate merch dump was a big red flag for me. I bought some merch since I want to support it, but I'm worried that the show might have been manufactured to specifically appeal the general indie demographic in order to garner a large following and in turn sell merch. Just rewatched Friendship is Witchcraft on TH-cam
It's the perfect example of what I'm saying here
They constantly joke about abusing and hating Spike, they hate Pinkie Pie for being a witch (full on calling her a slur and everything), when she's actually just a very traumatized pony, and they joke about drugs and murder in the dragon episode
These things were ok back then, but if FiW came out today, I GUARANTEE the creators would be cancelled, not just on Twitter, but Internet-wide.
FiW is still a good series tho, highly recommend
@@bonnietelocole6777 This might be an unpopular opinion but people who are so violently anti shipping/shippers weird me out. Like it's weird to ship 12 year old characters or teens but 90% of those shippers are the same age and will grow out of it, but there are people who shame others out of shipping in general.
Like simping for a character is fine but not shipping 2 of them together?
I personally see fictional characters as dolls, to be posed and used however, because they are writing tools and not real people.
Never understood why people let bad eggs in a fandom ruin the show for them. Every indie thing that blows up seems to have the "worst fandom ever" title slapped onto it until the next thing
I don't get it, either. I mean, why torture yourself, dealing with strangers that're obviously crazy and have no tact (and would likely commit a plethora of crimes if they were able to get away with it, they're that unhinged), when you can simply enjoy the work among yourself and your circle of friends?
It's because we don't have enough friends in real life anymore. It'd make it a lot easier to avoid this crap.
@@thegodofalldragonstrue bro! That's why or this is why people who are born to be hated this world.
People gotta take some Stoic class for real.
Let's not forget the fact that said fandom also gets the, "Toxic Fandom" Title as well and generalizes fans as "Toxic and annoying awful people" despite the fact there's been said Awful people getting away with things in the fandom
Gooseworx has said that if the Fandom gets out of Control she will make the Show bad on Purpose. Things like this need to be said more often
Edit: Because most of the People replying to this Comment seem to have very bad Joke Literacy, Gooseworx was obviously joking when she said that
Really sucks for the normal people who just want to enjoy a good show
@@Daemondogexactly man im 1 of those ppl who'll just chill and enjoy the series
Haven't seen the post but to me that sounds like a joke
What if tho I’ll die laughing
It would be a fucking damn shame if that were to happen. I really like the show, and these degenerates are ruining it for me. Well, I'm going to buy those plushies so I can still remember it's glory.
I’ve been waiting for a show like this for a really long time. I love clowncore/weirdcore. I love the combination of bright colours and jokes with slight horror like elements. I remember being hooked on the show the moment I saw Pomni fanart a couple months ago, but now seeing the intense hate for this show makes me really sad tbh.
Love Eddsworld. Hate that the fandom from 2016 gave it such a bad rep and destroyed so much for the show when it had both such wonderful people working on it and amazing fans that aren’t d*ckheads. It’s got such a warm feel to it and I just love it with all my heart. I am so proud and grateful Matt started it up again
my animations are worse than glitch
I hate bots
What Even Happened to the Eddsworld Fandom that made people go Nuts

As much as I love the Amazing Digital Circus, I will admit, it does make me relieved to hear that popularity isn't everything.
Especially since I'm an artist myself, and sometimes I fear that when I do eventually make some kind of indie series of my own in the future, I worry that it might get overlooked and nobody ends up seeing it.
