Really love the idea of the condiments and sauces drawers next to the oven. But just wondering if the heat from the oven would be bad for the condiments and sauces’ shelf lives? Thanks!!
Hey! Good question! In my previous set up it indeed was warming up the condiments drawer when I run my oven for long hours. Not to mention this is a metal based cabinet. But in this latest update, I feedback the issue to my contractor and there is now 2 metal walls between the oven to the condiments drawer. Very little to non heat transfer now. If u are using plywood, the heat transfer I imagine shouln't be as great as it's not as conductive as a material

Problem with ID design is that it is often only made to look good but not functional and ergonomic. If you are clear on what you want, its should be ok. :)
Hey Kenneth, just wondering why you chose a gas stove over an induction stove top? Seems to me that many couples choose induction stove tops nowadays, not sure if it's because of pure aesthetic purpose, ease of maintenance or the fact that they rarely cook. I'm personally looking for something that can withstand heavy cooking (maybe not everyday, but it will happen). What's your take on this? Thanks!
Hey! Yes I think most people choose induction for the ease of cleaning. But it's not reliable and strong enough for high heat. I hear many stories of induction cookers auto cut off when trying to sear steaks for example. I can't afford to have the heat being cut off when searing steaks. :) Also, for me it's more intuitive to see a flame, I can easily judge the heat level by eye. I can also control the heat level by lifting the pan higher from the flame, which in an induction, loses all heating the moment it loses contact with the surface. There is a reason why commercial kitchen still uses flame. :) Hope it helps!
Taobao lol. There is only one tip about kitchen organisation, be ruthlessly minimalist about it :) no amount of kitchen organisation can help if one is hoarding all kinds of equipment
Hi there! Wonderful kitchen you have there! Just wondering is the kitchen fully open concept? I noticed the island and sliding doors at the background so I was wondering how the layout is like
Yes! there is a folding window and door to close off the kitchen completely during heavy cooking. I recommend it if you do any kinds of heavy cooking. :)
One question, did you manage to install your cooker hood such that your cooking oil and fumes are vented to outside your kitchen into the air. If not , its just recirculating cooking fumes within the confines of your kitchen. I live in an apartment in Singapore , and my developer has constructed my kitchen with a fan operated ducts that sucks out the fumes to the outside of my building. I wonder if it is written in stone for HDB rules that kitchen fumes from cooker hood are not allowed to be vented out into the open.
highly dependent on the hood's efficiency. If your hood is unable to extract the grease from the air previously, this will not help. Likewise for the smell. I would say a good hood is more important.
How is the Bertazzoni oven so far? Where did you get yours? I'm planning to buy one, but can't seem to find much reviews or mention anywhere including forums.
Hi, can i ask about the kitchen hood? Does you need to buy additional top ventilation casing to reach the ceiling. I have the same model but it doesnt reached the ceiling. Or you place the hood higher up?
I really love the style of your kitchen! Might I ask if a warming drawer is less common nowadays in the kitchen? Or is it more of an aesthetic thing to have? Also would like to hear your opinion since you are a chef yourself! Thanks :)
Thanks for the kind words! I don't have the luxury of space for a warming drawer hahaha but it's something you can easily do by putting things into a slightly warm oven rather than having just a dedicated device. I don't find myself feeling the need of it at least
Hi whats the rough figure you spent on this whole setup including the fridge, oven, stove and steel countertops? Dream setup as i cook and this fits my whole concept beautifully! Inspired by your concept!
That number really varies wildly depending on what you decide to get. Don't think you can based on anyone's kitchen for that. Even the cabinets prices will vary greatly depending on your requirement and size. That being said, the cabinets and countertop alone is in the ballpark of 10k.
Hi noticed that your kitchen is open concept but still allow the doors to be closed up! But theres two different door system on either side of the entrance. How does that work?
Hi! That’s a really functional kitchen u got there!! I m wondering if you could do a review on the Bertazzoni combi steam oven that u got as well? I ‘ve been contemplating on getting one but not sure what their after sales service n warranty is like. Is it easy to use? Easy to clean? Is it reliable with consistent heat n accurate temperature settings?
I recommend, a flat - ultra thin looking stainless steel dishwasher also. As your kitchen is really cool actually and is a professional Master Chef's style. But the white dishwasher ruins it. There are double draw flat looking stainless steel dishwashers. Definitely check them out :)
Appreciate if can sharing what is the model of the bertazzoni hob and oven you are using? I unable to find out the hob and oven together have steam function.
hey, i have updated the model in the description. Yes its not as easily found in the typical shops. Feel free to reach out to them where do they carry the steam model
Hi! Thanks for the video. Interested to find out more about the hood with you are using from techno. How do you find the product? There’s not much information available about the brand and seems not many hoods come with baffle filters for residential use. Would like to find out more about your experience with this hood (effectiveness etc.,) and the after sales service from the brand. Thank you for your feedback!
Hey, its ok. I wish that the metal of the column is of better quality, but it doesn't affect the performance. After-sales is not great, it has a very local small company feel to it, if you know what I mean :) It's most effective as I have one of their more powerful hoods except for the most extreme of situations like cooking steaks. But that is also dependent on the amount of draft and height of the hood away from the hob. But I do not see any other brands in Singapore offering as powerful hoods and with baffle filters. Honestly, this is my first hood, I do not have any reference point as well.
@@bahkwa thanks for your response, appreciate the honest feedback and insight. Brandt seems to also offer quite a powerful hood with baffle filters, will check that out too.
Hi, we are considering installing vent from the hood. Are we actually allowed to do that in HDB? Would the neighbours be affected by the aerosolized oil? Hope to hear from you. Thank you!
The supplier has terms and conditions that need to be met before he can install. Definitely no oil as all the air expelled is filtered through the hood and a charcoal filter.
hi chef, am on the lookout for a good gas stove that would allow for wok cooking too (trying to achieve wok hei at home). Does your Bertazzoni stove achieve that level of high heat? thank you!!

The way the kitchen is designed looks really functional. Hope it's been serving you well! Would you be showing more on how you use the space on a daily basis? Also, with an open kitchen like that, is your hood able to keep up with the fumes?
Hey! Thanks! Let me think about how to share how I use the space a little more. For now, you can check out some of my kitchen fundamentals cooking class type videos on our channel for an idea :) In the most extreme of cases, no domestic hoods can keep up. Our kitchen has folding windows and doors (which I totally forgot to show in this video!!!!) to cordon the kitchen off. When we do heavy cooking, the kitchen will be closed off from the living room
i noticed you have ducting by sgbetterhome, how's that working out? is there a gap at the top of your chimney hood? if so, what did you do about it? i love the stainless steel kitchen, and as your reply on another comment, its true, ID do not recommend it and instead pointed myself and my wife towards kitchen carpentry.
Hey, not sure what that is. Is that the wok flame kind? I continued with Bertazzoni as I have a partnership deal with them and I am quite happy with their produces as I was already using it.
Hi Chef, we r inspired by your stainless steel kitchen! And the stove! Amazing! By the way, how did u hang up the pans and pots on the rack? How strong is it? How does it manage to hold so much weight? 😊
Hi! Love the video and the idea of the stainless steel kitchen seems so practical. Do you have any insights on why isn't this more commonly used in apartments? Am still waiting for my BTO so am looking out for ideas.
Thanks! I think because everyone uses a main contractor or ID which just copy and paste ideas. General perception is that stainless steel kitchen looks ugly and may look like a hawker stall. I won't deny, I had that initial reservation as well. Also there are very little suppliers that do stainless steel kitchen for homes and it is unlikely that main contractors will suggest that for you as they lose the carpentry income. I also had to project manage the kitchen supplier with my main contractor separately which I do not think most people would want to do so or have the project management skills to do so. But I think it's gaining steam and some IDs are offering the option so you may be in luck in the future. All the best!
Lol yes a bit. But it's a Wusthof Classic Chef Knife. I am very functional towards my knifes so i just use one knife for almost all of my knife needs. Thinking to move to a Chinese cleaver as it's even more utilitarian than a western chefs knife
Very functional kitchen! Thanks for sharing! That is the type of sink I'm looking for! Seamless and gapless. Can you tell me what is the estimated price?
Hey, it depends. If u have a hood which is good at extracting air, yes. If you use your hood while cooking and the walls in the kitchen is still oily, I would say it's useless. And for it to work well, you need to close off most of the windows to prevent drafts which means a stuffy cooking environment. I have an aircon in the kitchen, so it's fine for me. So some considerations for you. :)
the costs really varies wildly depending on your size and requirements. I think the prices has increased since, but when the stainless steel components alone cost me in the ballpark of $10k 3 years ago. Hope it helps.
@@JasonkilLeREm0 never, a domestic hood is never powerful enough. I have one of the more powerful hoods in the market but it stills struggles to capture everything in the most extreme of situations like searing steaks. I have folding bi doors that close the kitchen up during heavy cooking.

Lol yes a bit. But it's a Wusthof Classic Chef Knife. I am very functional towards my knifes so i just use one knife for almost all of my knife needs. Thinking to move to a Chinese cleaver as it's even more utilitarian than a western chefs knife
how did you weld the kitchen sink to the stainless steel top?
No idea, was done by the supplier.
I like your kitchen but I seriously do not like plates in drawers. Don't your pans get dusty?
Things that are used often can be place outside and things that are not used that often, stored in drawers or cupboards.
Can share your stainless stain supplier?
Yup! Is on my description. Anox Studios. You can also quote The Mixtape Chef to get 5% off the project fee :)
Very functional kitchen! Thanks for sharing! That is the type of sink I'm looking for! Seamless and gapless. Can you tell me what is the estimated price?
the sink is part of the kitchen countertop, so you can't really get one off the shelf
Hi, any comment about the ventilated duct that is installed? Is it worth the cost?
Hey, it depends. If u have a hood which is good at extracting air, yes. If you use your hood while cooking and the walls in the kitchen is still oily, I would say it's useless. And for it to work well, you need to close off most of the windows to prevent drafts which means a stuffy cooking environment. I have an aircon in the kitchen, so it's fine for me. So some considerations for you. :)
Could I check what is the price range of having a stainless steel kitchen sans the appliances?
hmmm there are too many variables to be honest. What you see here is just below SGD10k, without appliances.
Hi there, base on the renovation, how much does it cost to do this set up?
the costs really varies wildly depending on your size and requirements. I think the prices has increased since, but when the stainless steel components alone cost me in the ballpark of $10k 3 years ago. Hope it helps.
@@TheMixtapeChef thanks for the reply. With covid, the cost definitely increase... luckily my bto is 5 years from now.. hopefully drop by then haha
@@TheMixtapeChef one more question ! haha. with like good exhust to suck the heavy cooking, is it still ideal to have a open kitchen concept?
@@JasonkilLeREm0 never, a domestic hood is never powerful enough. I have one of the more powerful hoods in the market but it stills struggles to capture everything in the most extreme of situations like searing steaks. I have folding bi doors that close the kitchen up during heavy cooking.
@@TheMixtapeChef got it🤣 thanks for the tip!
Is the hood enough to keep the fumes in the kitchen?
Nope, it just extract the oil and grease out of the air. As most hoods models are recirculating models.
Hi Kenneth, thanks for this video! May I know where you got the ceiling rack to hang all your pans from?
The old lemon zest kitchen supply shop was winding down and I got it off their garage sale many moons back. But u can check Amazon for them. It's not typical of Asian homes so you likely got search on a western shopping platform
The Mixtape Chef Cool, thanks for the tip!
The good folks at Anox Studio (the stainless steel kitchen branch from Yew Lee) who did my stainless steel kitchen has reached out to me to offer 5% off on the project fee! If you are interested in a stainless steel kitchen, quote The MIxtape Chef when you are engaging them. Good Luck!

Hi The Mixtape Chef, Any idea on the thickness of the top surface of stainless steel? thanks
i am not sure about the metal sheet. But the countertop is 20mm thick. Hope it helps!
Did you specify the thickness and won't a ss countertop have lots of visible scratches and cuts as the years go by?
@@icilike no, it's just the standard thickness they come with..yes it will scratch, no way around it. I don't mind it, it's a heavily used kitchen, the more scratches, the more character
Basically is an ikea kitchen ...
Miso
Beer
Talk so much..😂😂😂
So messy
Poorly thought out.
