Pre Rapala Wiggle Warts are the best! Look under the bill and it will have "wiggle wart" in black letters. If it says Storm, or brads, or has raised letters, it's a modern crankbait and not an old one. Not only will it have "wiggle wart" in printed black letters, but look at the letters with a magnifying glass. The letters are actually a series of tiny black dots. Those are the baits you want. Missouri craw, Green Phantom, among others bring a premium price.
Hey, think you may need to approach some of your lure manufacturers and see if they can duplicate the old wiggle wart and do a throw back wiggle wart much like your jig! Patent issues maybe?? But it would be popular!!
I have several dozen old (very old) wiggle warts. I grew up in Springfield Missouri fishing Table Rock and Bull Shoals. Honestly, I’ve just been afraid to fish them for fear of losing them…..and I’ve had good success on the RK Crawler (especially the dd 50 version). This spring I’m going to pull some out and throw them! You’ve inspired me. What hooks to you use as replacements? What size/sizes of hooks? Thanks!
It depends on lake more than anything. My local home lake nobody gets them to bite a wiggle wart but you tie a rock crawler on and they will choke it in the back of their throat.
@@rustyreidfishing3334 that’s ok I have plenty of rock crawlers not sure how many wiggle warts I have, them head hunter fire tail crank baits are just like the rock crawler for $6.99 at tackle warehouse. Good luck fishing
New wiggle wart gets its butt kicked by the RockCrawler…🤷♂️ but OLD wiggle wart is 🔥 but who can afford them🏦🏦… and Yes I don’t always agree but I’ll be back to watch every video …Randy🎯
25% of pre Rapala warts have fish action. 300ish tested so far. LH+ or better action for fishing. LH+ = 6in wide, some have WIDER action. I have several clear bills with Fishing action. This statistic means that 75% of OG or custom painted warts won't have good fishing action. Test before painting. Swimming pool 4 feet deep. flat. Testing for bottom deflection. how wide of action. Stalling is the main problem. Baits will lock up to one side and drag through the water. Consistently. lures do the same thing 1 or 20 casts. usually takes 5 or so to get an idea of the action. It's possible to have a H. Hunter action 1 foot wide, which Stalls. PT-H-ST. stall rankings, ST- < 3' ST, ST
Do you have any data or experience on the performance of the clear butyrate plastic warts vs the solid white plastic bodies? Nobody ever seems to discuss this.
@@mistertwister1816 Both the clear plastic bodies and the white plastic bodies can have LH+ or better action. I have found many in my testing. 5/80 fishers I have found have H+ action, 3 feet wide. comes out to a 6.25% chance of randomly finding a H+ action, first test. 25% are fishers, LH+ or better no stalling. One factor I have found to be almost consistent is the Metallic finishes. About 10% of the METALLIC baits have fishing action. Heavier paint, less action, I think.
I own probaly 200 of each and paint my own. I still personally believe the Rk crawler out performs. Ive caught many 5-6 on Beaver thru Bullshoals. True old wiggle warts are leaps above. No ive never fished a Tournament and no i dont endorse anyone.
Rapala tweaked the molds and the plastic recipe...They tried to fix something that did not need fixing. Did not take long for fisherman to find out...'if it ain't broke don't fix it' Bad decision on Rapalas Part...

Randy I may have one of those old wiggle warts in my tackle box I'll have to check. Thanks for the tip!
The wiggle wart is one of my favorite little crank baits!!!
lol we use this for trolling for salmon in rivers in WA.
I think it’s strange that of all the bait companies no one has duplicated the old wiggle wart!
I have a stash of 90s era 200/300 bandits that can do a pretty good job. They are amazing.
What about the speed trap, Randy. Is the old original way better than today's? Thanks.
Curious about this as well.

Love them both. I don't pick one based on what it is but color usually. Because im limited on color. Have a few different colors and sizes in both.

I still have a 3700 box full of the old wiggle warts. Haven't thrown one since moving to Florida
You want to sale them
@ ha, almost as soon as I posted this an old friend from KC saw it and called me. Already made a deal with him. Sorry

Why can't someone take an original wart and make a new mold? Just curious ✌

I have quite a few of The wiggles-O's by Cordell. Has anyone had any experience with these?
made by storm when i was using them
The owner of storm started making lures again under the name Dave's kaboom lures. But I don't think he's in business anymore.
Money Badger will replace both

Yes you are right they did mess with the mold and they never should have. The pre Rapala wiggle warts are awesome!
Finally, one of your opinions I agree with!!
Have went? How about proper English !
