  • Brett Kidding in his first Longines FEI world young horse championships in Ermelo the Netherlands, in the 5yo final, riding Jewels Sir Weihbach.
It was a nervous start for Brett, first to get his horse in the ring, Hans van sausage Slinger Brett's trainer was there to skitch him up from behind with the lunge whip, then the pressure continued to follow with the score announced for the previous rider, Bondreas Longstrand Riding 'On the Big Bucks' a stallion by 'A Successful Son of a Gun' out of the Elite mare 'Feeling the Riches' with a top score of 9.8 But Brett pushes on with a special performance with many highlights, Some very positive comments from the head of the jury after the ride, Does Brett pull it of??

I love the fact that while your being class clown with your riding and your commentary that your horse just carries on regardless doing his job

Notice his horses does not need a DOUBLE BRIDLE !! A simple normal bridle is all that is used ,and Brett's riding skill are awesome .

im really not a fan of the no leg control with spurs. aint no way u can tell me he aint jabbing that horse every time. it looks funny but im sure it dont feel funny

    • @Robin-yj7gj

The art of his riding, he doesn't touch the horse with the leg or spurs if he doesn't have to. It's just show.
Just like modern sword fighting, the first thing you learn is to stop the sword right before you hit the opponent hard. I guess he does the same with his body. Just look at the bit in the horse's mouth, it's completely still. He manages to moves his hands without disturbing the mouth. Now that's body control on a whole new level

Everyone who takes this too serious and doesnt laugh at this should really ask themselves if they have any happiness in life. Tristan Tucker is known for his sensitive way of riding and if you have just the slightest of knowledge of Dressage, you can see that he barely even touches the horses mouth or doesn't even really kick his flanks. So please, stop crying out "poor horse" if you have NO clue, what's going on here.
His horse is super relaxed, has his head in just the right position ALL the time, is not swishing tail and the ears are in an alert pose, mostly forward ot a bit sidewards. NO signs of anger or pain. Hecc, he is even pooping in the beginning xD Which horse does that if it was uncomfortable?
The bit he uses isn't even a curb if you look closely xD Its a normal English bridle with a (seemingly) soft bit.
      What is happening?
So basically, this rider seems to be jumping and bumping around in his horses saddle and pulling on the reins like crazy. But look closer. He gives just the right prompts in just the right time. The horse gets exactly what he needs to know. He NEVER lifts out of the saddle ONCE. The only thing he does is messing with his upper body (which is fake, because when he's not goofing around, he actually rides better than most Grand Prix riders do). And the horse must have an ENORMOUS amount of balance to still go in a beautiful extended trot or even a passage. It's crazy, if you think about it.
And now look at the horses mouth, not at his hands. Yes, he shakes his hands around, but NEVER is the horses mouth affected by that. When he moves his hands, its mostly up and wown, not forward-backward (which would actually hurt his horse a lot). He is so cautious and soft with this wonderful animal that I wish, more riders would pay so much attention to their horses.
Please, if you can, watch him riding a bit more seriously than this here. He is not a circus clown, he actually is an absolutely talented horse trainer and rider.

@@mo0onsh0t spurs are there but barely need to touch the horse. A competent rider knows exactly how to use whip and spur. Not really understand by non horse people is it.

He is not harming the horse. Despite the exagerated movements he never pulls the actual bit or kicks the horse. He is doing it as a joke, because he is narrating what is “going on inside his head” and exaggerating what goes on with some riders in Grand Prix level

He is a top level trainer and rider using humor in this exhibition......omg.....maybe he should use crayons and stick figures!!!! It's great when we can laugh at ourselves ...any horse person knows that horse wouldn't go with him if he didn't trust him. This is a great team
