@JohnS-zq8ks No, I popped off the fuel inlet and injected it in as if it was fuel, 3 or 4 pulses a minute apart, this cleans the soot and carbon off of the atomizer screen. It'll cough out some black flakes for a bit too.
@@Everlanders I see. I have a parts list and scope to add a T valve allowing me to draw from a one gallon jug of kerosene to clean the espar D4 when it makes sense. You think it would be worth doing? Found a little fuel valve to switch from wing to wing in a small plane
Been there on a 4 day guided trip in a Toyota yute. The sunrise on a neighboring volcano was really other worldly. Then I got altitude sickness, but only for an hour as chewing coca leaves from the other family really helped! Glad you had fun!
Wow! What an experience. Loved seeing it through your experience. The geometric designs were so cool along with everything else you showed us. Can't wait to see more of what you experience.
2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck. Our first modification was adding a 140-gallon 'saddle-tank' to supplement the factory 50-gallon tank, giving us 190-gallons/720-litres (liters) on the rig. . On the toy-hauler I fabricated on a similar commercial chassis, I mounted another 120-gallon tank. In theory, our range without re-fill is Anchorage-to-Acapulco. . We prefer acquiring fuel in low-tax regions. We prefer by-passing high-tax areas. . I think paying double -- twice the price of locals -- just might qualify as a 'no thank you!' place.
We've just returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma from a week in New Brunswick (where we do plan to eventually park our bus), and were sure to bring back a good supply of Coffee Crisps and Ketchup chips.
That's a cool place with a surprising variety of stuff to see and do. Interesting how the islands sort of feel like islands. Are the ridges in the salt uncomfortable to drive over? I like how Scooty Puff is becoming a regular character. I picked up one about a year ago and I've put 1000 miles on it, which equates to about $4 in electricity. They're a lot of fun.
Any idea how old those old steam engines are? Interesting about the fuel situation. Those cacti look like they could be related to the ones out in Arizona. Cool trip, thanks for sharing!

Do you have a video update on your new AC? I see your outdoor unit is different than the one in your first Forest Air AC video. Would much appreciate knowing what you decided to go with!
@@Everlanders oh thanks for confirming! After looking more closely I was thrown off by the additional black fan on the front, which made me think it was different. Thanks again for all your content, you've inspired me so much! My overlander will never be as cool as yours, but you give me something to work towards!
Hi , Ive been following you guys on/off for a number of years now . gotta a quick question , ie tires . You've been on conti's the whole time , is this from complete choice ? ie you like them b'cause of overall performance & needs met ? or is your set-up specific for those tires , ie wheels etc. TIA for your input. I'm on 2nd set of G275's GY and have heard Conti is upgrading their speed rating and rubber compound , but haven't come across any 1st hand experience yet. In Alaska now but will need new tires by end of Sept. Safe Travels ~peace~ PS Thanks as always for your great Vids ♥
We got ours in Ecuador, Ours is 2 Wheel Drive, 1100 Watts, Maybe not allowed in the US. This is as close as I could find: amzn.to/3Y0K8BZ Although only 1 Wheel drive.
Wow, what a salty video. Flat out loved it. Does this giant salt lick prove there are giant space cows? Too bad about the touristy stuff, it does take away from the experience. Hide that stuff in post. It's not like any of us are going to drive down there tomorrow and say "What the....?"
To commemorate your experience at salt flats I eat whole pint of salty ice cream. It was delicious and lasted for whole video :D Very strangle place where nothing lives. Was there any life at the Islands?
It's the legacy of a prehistoric lake that went dry, leaving behind a desertlike, nearly 11,000-sq.- km. landscape of bright-white salt, rock formations and cacti-studded islands. Its otherworldly expanse can be observed from central lncahuasi lsland. Though wildlife is rare in this unique ecosystem, it harbors many pink flamingos. -Google
Noticed a big puff of exhaust on the ferry crossing. How's the larger Turbocharger working? Still impressed with it. The engine chip tune selector doing it's thing OK? Salt flat is quite the place. You should turn adds on immediately, you're only cheating yourself out of income That could be a big help to you guys bottom line. It isn't cheap traveling!
@@Everlandersi had to replace the turbo and while at it the glo plug setup and chipped it a few years ago.I never take it off the lowest chip setting. Engine is still strong but only 130k miles so far.. What is stage two.
Bolivia is an impressive place. If I lived there, my vehicle would be completely decimated from camping in that salt desert every weekend. It's like Burning Man, but with a much higher IQ per capita, plus an overabundance of my favorite drugs... solitude, stars and silence!
@@Everlanders no I get that. And your rig is truly epic! I just meant something electric that could move the rig instead of its primary engine. I understand motors are not cheep, not light weight, and not conservative on power, and they aren't plug and play. But then again, it's your house. So if you were to experience another fuel shortage, you wouldn't be stranded far from home. I think it's very cool people were willing to sell you gas while experience a shortage themselves.
I wouldn't consider it, at 700Wh/Km to move this 7 ton unit, it would completely darin our 11.5Kwh of batteries in 15.71 km or 9.76 miles... Not worth the expense and weight of carrying it halfway around the globe.
Great video in a stunning place guys! We both made it to the wall of fame of the Bolivian salt flats! Cheers!
Absolutely one of coolest videos you have done!! Thank you for taking us along👍👍👍

So Beautiful, thank you for sharing such a wonderous place.
Really enjoyed the video. Can't wait to see it for myself. Good little Espar heater tip (the silencer).
Carry a can of carb cleaner too, that didn't make the video...
@@Everlanders how do you use the carb cleaner? I assume spray into the air cleaner box to deal with altitude?

It was fascinating! The salt ridges are pretty crumbly, so not too bad with the scooter... Almost like sidewalk cracks...
Great vid ,We found at high altatude blowing a puff of compresed air into the heater intake does the job.
Yeah, I've done that too, but I need to pull the air silencer from the intake to do that, so this is the same work.
@@Everlanders you will have to make air intake coupler on the intake side with solenoid valve and add the switch to pulse some air vua your app :)

Yup, it’s all working fine, I usually don’t spool the turbo on ferries.
Getting the heater going:
I'm surprised your mini-split isn't also a heat-pump 😕
This was built long before these were a thing.
Curious about which diesel motor in your rig. My 99 f250 has a 7.3L. I noticed the black exhaust against the white salt.
