I feel like this song could’ve been a HUGE hit if it had been released as a single and given proper promotion. This album would probably be considered a classic 90s alt rock staple. Damn. If only their label treated them right
But we could say this about a lot of things. Some things flop cos they do. Yet the world is full of Mariah Carey, Slagdonna, Oasis, Rhianna, Boyzone, Spice Girls etc. trash allowed to live when it should never. World is unfair and makes no sense and has little taste of any.
This was a single and I am pretty certain it aired as it could for what the label paid to promote this video and this can be said about many bands that weren't treated with more promotion as they had should that I can think about between labels such as Vagrant, equal vision, etc.
I remember paying like 40 bucks for this album at a local record store back in the late 90's. Had to special order it in, best 40 bucks I've ever spent.
I got one album in a used store, bought this album mail order from Alias, and then album 3 from CDUniverse.com. My card number was stolen from that site!
I just found an old Alias Records Cassette Sampler called We Don't give Jack, has this song, Small- Vega and Boston, and Archers Of Loaf "What Did You Expect?" I had forgotten I even owned it, it is dated from 1996. I must have picked it up at one of the local shows....back when that was a thing.
Siempre que escucho esta banda, específicamente esta canción, llegan recuerdos nostálgicos pero muy hermosos de mi adolescencia, saludos desde Bogotá-Colombia
Ahhh this is great! I've heard the name a few times in passing but this is the first time I've ever checked them out. Brings me right back to the 90's, so good
Damnnn I remember I had this song on a burned CD mix. I still remember some of the other songs as well I had Vitreous Humor-Sharing Stone, A picture Postcard by Promise Ring, a Christie Front Drive song Truest you by Sunday’s best Please Drive Faster by Braid....those were good times late 90s skateboarding all night.
i used to have a viewmaster when i was a kid hahaha! it feels so nostalgic. i really wish i was a little kid again cause it felt like my childhood was taken away too soon.
Forty more than I can take today Wrap it up in cellophane Throwing out for safety's sake 'Cause they'll just think it sounds the same I'll go a day I'll go a day I've gone for days I know a way I know the way But I can't speak And if I stay Well I'll have to make this up Sixteen days to find a way To try and get this shut And I'll be gone So I'll be safe Busy scratching out this ache Taking pressure off my face We'll throw this out for safety's sake I'll go a day I'll go a day I've gone for weeks I know a way I know a way But I can't speak And if I stay Well I'll have to make this up Sixteen days to find a way To try and get this shut
Their first album i´ve heard was The day three of my new life. It is great. I became a fun. I really liked it. Sounds like Samiam sometimes but it´s awesome.
The opening lyrics and his voice reminds me of another song I listened to in the 90's and I can't figure it out for the life of me... Driving me absolutely nuts
Know any lyrics or what the video is like? I can name you literally 20 great carbon copies of this song. Otherwise, Google 'MTV 120 Minutes playlists' and you will find it if you invest the time, almost guaranteed.
@@nesandpcengine3683 No, trust me if I could I would have discovered it by now lol. It's a nostalgic sound but I just can't envision any lyrics unfortunately...
@@danwright39 Great 90's alternative music gives me more joy and happiness than literally anything else in this sick, sad world. *Daria smile/scowl/exasperation face* I hope you find your song.

I owned a skateboard shop in 90’s and I think it was Tom Yeto!/ toy machine sent me this cassette. We burned it out. Knapsack was incredible . Also , The Jealous Sound, Los Angeles Ca. Indie heroes.
Anyone remember a song that had the voice of a man narrating something like seventh soul or something like that. It was on alt rock station around 91-94 in Tulsa Oklahoma, KTOW 102.3. It’s been in my head for years. Had a dark ominous sound to it.
@PipeD0d The Telecommunications Act of 1996 killed independently controlled radio markets. Now a handful of major corporations are "taste-makers" who would never give good music like this the time of day. Very sad.
The lesson about the telecommunications act was very informative and I swear to consult this comment area if I forget any part of it; that aside -- I enjoy this song.
Damn, this could not be more "90s emo," right down to the Boy Scouts reference toward the beginning of the video. I thought this whole vibe got kinda obnoxious back then, but now it just makes me wistful for that time period.
this song ruined so many songs that tried to sound like this for me after i dug back deep enough to find the source... you hear this once and it's like wait.. that's nothing interesting... but its like eating lobster for the first time... like this is nothing interesting... and then you wake up days later just not impressed by anything else and just craving it!!!
Knapsack has been and will always be one of my favourite bands. Just a great band.

So you could say that it was 40 more that they could take? Bad jokes aside, props to you dude
who all's admiring that sick bass tone in 2023?
Nah 2024 though
This music video is perfect. I'm forever in love with this song and with Knapsack in general.
Great underrated band.
You got that right! Samiam as well
Knapsack were great, and this album was such a mess. But the 2nd and 3rd got it all right.
Such a time capsule. Whisper to a scream vocals get me every time. Singer could have given Perry Ferrell a run for his money.

still making burned CDs with custom art work to this day.. altho i am only 22
I remember those.
ALSO KNAPSACK. love you.
90's foreeeveeer!!!!
dudes cruising around suburbia in vintage cars with slightly overexposed film stock is the best genre of music video
Just discovered them and I am so lost where were these people how did I not find them earlier.
Man the girl on this video is so gorgeous! God bless her wherever she is now heheh :D

Busy scratching out this ache
Taking pressure off my face
We'll throw this out for safety's sake

I know a way
I know a way
But I can't speak
And if I stay

Such a brilliant video for a great band. Alias Records hit home runs with Archers and these guys! Great job Grady!
Knapsack. Turtle House, Davis, CA. Great memories.
In what years?

might be a Dashboard Confessional song. Or "Starz" by Hum. Or any song by Trail of Dead. Or Lifehouse maybe?

Let me check out this forgotten grunge playlist real quick……gets stuck on this song for 3 hours. How’d I miss this?!?
Fantastic, fantastic visuals. So ahead of it's time.
If People Ask my favorite music era, it's very safe to say from 90's, because there was the real Music
A time before smartphones.
which means a time before radioactive radiation 😌
Always loved and faved this band (and still do), I always promoted them in Second Life at alt7. Purchased the music and advanced them when I could.
This band should have been big sadly they never got the fame they needed and exposure, they sounded a little bit like Seaweed and Superchunk.
Jawbreaker Dear You.
@@patrickbaitman8336 yeah i get a jawbreaker/early samiam vibe for sure
Found these guys on old cassette, nice.......
I was wondering did knapsack ever played in the UK in the mid to late 90's because they are brilliant band.
I love this song so much!!!
Soooo fucking 90s.
Really so good
Great song, great video, thanks for posting this!
simply amazing!
this is just fucking awesome, cold turkey, its the only thing making me feel good at the moment, love you knapsack!!!!

SHOzFST Susan’s House from Eels?

Loved this song so much. Enjoyed making a reaction video to it!
It is criminal how underrated this band is...
Good energy to the song
Such a great tune

A new found glory for me awesome
Love this fucking band

I whipped out my Gibson Les Paul earlier today. Decided to play this song for fun.
The lesson about the telecommunications act was very informative and I swear to consult this comment area if I forget any part of it; that aside -- I enjoy this song.
Wow...i just listening at 2021🙉
Emo old school 🖤☠️.
When did Ron Howard start an alt rock band?
Pure style
Yeah, the 90's anti-commercial stuff was great....like this band!
Dude, I gotta make a cover of this. It sounds cool with acoustic.
Damn, this could not be more "90s emo," right down to the Boy Scouts reference toward the beginning of the video. I thought this whole vibe got kinda obnoxious back then, but now it just makes me wistful for that time period.
damn, why are they not starting in 2011 could use this fresh breeze of what music should sound like :)
2022?
DITTO!!!!!
im sooo stuck in 1995
This song really makes me want to buy a 70s Les Paul deluxe.
this is realy good
I remember college rock
Great 90’s emo song. These guys had a lot of good songs.
Is the blonde girl with the polaroid camera predictive programming of people today living life through the lens? Anyways awesome track.
the most depressive band ever
i thought there was more drums in this song or that i could at least hear them... its been a long time though i suppose
they dont make music like this anymore
Are you sure it wasn't because a bunch of underground bands became radio-play-popular all at once?
Idk but like they barely popped to the surface I do agree they're underated don't understand why this isn't more popular
Im sorry but this band was fucking awesome, I was all about some Knapsack and Dinosaur Jr.
All these songs remind me of Laguna Beach.
grady cooper through in that he directed in the title, they must have skimped out on paying you haha
Did it for the fun!

Can anyone tell me what this song is about?
cellophane
Bass so sic, it wore a mask in 94'
sounds like sweet child of mine in the beginning
a jealous sound
he sounds like a mix between dave grohl and the guy from steal my sunshine by len
I didn't know the Beaver sang rock
UR GONE AGAIN UR GONE for WEEKS 👹👹👹
The world was special... Now is just a big garbage ball... I miss the 90s...
Proto pop punk emo FOR SURE
How dare you
Matt Damon’s first attempt at success 😂
Am I crazy or is there no kick drum in this song?
Nah it's just buried deeeeeeep in the mix.
There is practically no kick. You are not crazy. If you listen really hard, you can tell there is something but it's quiet.
yeah its the mixing i can barely hear the drums the snare is so light
I didn't know Eminem could play guitar the more you know lol.
Super-generic pop rock yay
This music is so good. Why is most music produced nowadays so incredibly bad?
get up kids copy
Worst. Drumming. Ever.
