  • Hi, so after some thinking we thought that an honest test would be with a stock microphone that comes with the a Yaesu ft-2000 radio, compared with the Yaesu M -1m dual element microphone which is considerably more expensive around €350 at the moment to buy in Holland🤔 maybe that money is better spends on an aerial or coax or possibly it down payments on an amplifier.👍 I'll let you decide if a difference is worth paying €350 🤔🤔,as always thanks for watching and 73s from Rotterdam 👍👍watching and special thanks to George Papa Delta 4 lema Sierra Delta for his help in making this video .Hallo, dus na enig nadenken dachten we dat een eerlijke test zou zijn met een standaardmicrofoon die wordt geleverd met de Yaesu ft-2000-radio, vergeleken met de Yaesu M -1m microfoon met twee elementen die momenteel aanzienlijk duurder is rond de € 350 om in Nederland te kopen🤔 misschien is dat geld beter te besteden aan een antenne of coax of eventueel aanbetalingen aan een versterker.👍 Ik laat je beslissen of een verschil het waard is om € 350 te betalen 🤔🤔, zoals altijd bedankt voor het kijken en 73s uit Rotterdam kijken en speciale dank aan George Papa Delta 4 lema Sierra Delta voor zijn hulp bij het maken van deze video.

I had a friend here in the US that was the head engineer at RCI Radio Corp for a time, and also worked at Henry radio and engineered their 1 KW all band mobile amplifier. Hands down he was the best radio " Tech" in North America. He developed a mod for the hand held mic's where he changed the 2 mf capacitor ( some were as high as 3mf), to a 5-6 mf capacitor and opens up the highs and lows on the mic for a much warmer and full range audio for TX

I have both p, the base mic is very nicely made and sounds better than the hand mic but perhaps not $350 Australian better.... still it is so much better to use, like any base mic.

The description says M-1 microphone but that's actually the Yaesu M-100 microphone.

If you had set your agc to slow it would have made it a lot easier to see the difference.

I'm on the fence about purchasing a a M-100. It did seem to have a little better audio in USB. Was any EQ or processor settings used?

Hi,we decided to leave the settings the same on both microphones to be fair,no compression, mic gain 30%,the difference is audio was minimal but the M-1 is a substantial microphone for the serious amateur radio operator with deep pockets,,maybe listen with headphones,,thanks from Rotterdam 👍

Thanks for the reply. I will probably get the base mic. It seems to sound better on your USB test. I just purchased a 991A and am studying for my tech license. I hope to get the general as well in the future.
The cowling supplied with the m-100 gave a sharp tone on sideband on another video I seen.
Thanks to you and your friend George for sharing your test. 73'
