    Learn how to get rid of frizzy dreads in this Howcast hair video about dreadlocks.
    So frizziness occurs just from every day wear and tear, whether you wear hats, whether it's warm outside, whether it's cold outside, sometimes your hair just gets frizzy. So the first thing we're going to do is we're going to use a little gel. You don't need much. You just need enough to maybe cover the tip of your middle finger. I'm going to smooth it to my thumb and we're going to start with the roots.
    Like I said, I'm going to start on Ayesha's temple right here, just apply just a little bit, and then once I get the product on there and it's going all the way through, I'm going to pinch it, so that way I get good tension and then start twisting. And what the tension does is it causes you to put a little bit of weight on the hair and the weight will force the hair to kind of just lay down and force the hair to do what you want it to do, and that's how you get rid of the frizz.
    And what I usually recommend, is that after you twist because twisting can be done pretty regularly, however you don't want to twist too tight, if you're doing this as an every day thing just to keep your dreads neat. So what I normally recommend is that you just twist until you feel it kind of smooth out and then you just let it drop naturally, and this will kind of give you a little bit of control over the frizz. You can continue this across the whole hair line.
    Most of the time to get rid of the frizziness, you mainly want to do the top because dreads are naturally going to be frizzy. That's the whole beauty of dreads. So you definitely don't want to fight the frizz on every last single head of hair. But sometimes the front, you want it to look a little neat, so you can do this twisting method with a little gel, to get rid of that right around the crown, all the way to the top. And then just either tie it down at night or just do it in the morning before you leave out and that is how you get rid of frizzy dreads.

    • @KeeperOfThe10

      Darth Plagueis, I'm not an expert but it seems like you should be able to redirect your locs with the new growth, esp. if you wait till you have enough new growth. Make sure it doesn't tangle. You should also be able to get a free counsultation with a loctician.

    • @Terra101
      @Terra101 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelparotte5076 If you crochet them then yes, they get frizzier, because you are breaking your hairs. Locks arent meant for any hair style, it's simply what happens when you do not comb your hair. And if you dont mess with them and let them mature, there is no way you could fit anything in your dreads because they get so compact.

    hi i have African textured hair and have started dreadlocks 2 weeks ago, but after 2 days my hair became extremely frizzy with lots of loose hair and new growth, within 1 week my hair looked more like an afro with worms in it than dreadlocks, i went back 1 week later to get them redone and on the day they looked perfect but the next day after sleeping they shrunk half the size and were almost completely covered by loose frizzy hair. is this normal? and if not what can i do to stop or fix the problem would be much appreciated if someone could help me.

    • @busa89

      ***** you are basically going to look homeless for 6 months to a year. Its the growing pains of locks. I got mine re twisted every 2 weeks for about 3 months then they started knotting up. 3 years later I do a re twist maybe once a month.

      +Cheetarah Evans don't put too much thought behind it. you just have to wait. it's not going to happen overnight. and trying to rush it will only result in locks you won't like. it will get better soon enough.

      +Cheetarah Evans iron must pass through the fire to be molded. you have to pass through the fire if you want locks. it's well worth it. we all go through this stage. just like a caterpillar goes into a cocoon to become a butterfly. hang in there.
