Great build it looks like, but a voice over on the timelapse would have been much more useful and interesting. Considering it's not just a regular bed build, giving some clarification on stuff would have been nice.

The only issue is so now anytime you wanna access it you have to remove a bed or will the spring system lift the bed at same time easily? Seems like a hassle.
+Aaron H Thanks for watching! Not a problem at all you can leave everything on the bed the air shock can lift it, it was a problem with the older spring based lifter mechanism, as the springs got worn out, it became difficult to open , but here its not the case.
Watch the video again! The answer to your question is there and if you don't find it you should not touch power tools, any tools!
its nice, but I'm just thinking a head, but would you have to remove the mattress before opening it every time, or else i think the mattress would be the backboard
+Axel Thanks for watching! And no I can say after a year of use, it opens still with the 10"thick mattress on it with all the pillows, blankets etc.. It opens so far as you see in the thumbnail

Hi! Late comment but I'm thinking of building a similar bed, and there still aren't a ton of resources out there for this sort of build, so I hope you'll respond! How much room did you give between the bed frame and slats to allow for the slats to properly lift up without hitting or scraping along the bed frame? Thanks!
Hello I am trying to find yours here in the USA online but the ones they offer are huge by comparison yours seems more compact. I have a 1964 Chevy pickup I am going to add this for my custom wood bed floor so I can raise it up to access the under bed fuel tank I installed between the frame rails I plan on installing this kit to the frame rails one way or another I need to buy the kit to figure it out I found one link but the company ALI Express is not in the states they want a fortune to ship it to California there are several on Amazon but are Spring operated or are the larger type...If you have a Amazon or Google link to get me to the right one I would appreciate it. I am using Poplar 3/4 thick X 5 inch wide boards X 77 inches long. The platform/ vehicle frame width is 34 inches wide I tied the boards together to form a platform similar to a bed. Only the middle part of the bed will raise up as I am using the vehicle frame/Chassis to mount this hardware I dont need the entire bed floor corners to raise up just the middle section between the wheel wells front to back my fuel pump and sender is in the gas tank and other stuff so this project makes servicing these items a snap and I wont need a trap door by doing this. Any Way Thanks alot for posting this.

Seems like a huge hassle to get stuff in/out imagine trying to lift it once a box spring and mattress is on it gonna be heavy if u have a quality set or you have to take it all off seems to much trouble to me.....seems low on the ground too
+Brian B that's why it has gas springs. Its easy to lift with all on it.

+Ľuboš Bača I'm impressed to not squeaky at all! I think that's because the slats are screwed down. And the frame is stiff.

I have a same bed but it opens frome side and my only concern is that why one of the side is slightly higher than the others
that's bad! look if the lifting mechanism is in the right hight, or if the slides are properly seated!

Why latts? .. is it ok to use a full sheet of plywood for under the mattress ?
+Scahoni the latts make it lighter to lift and it ads some springiness to the matters and helps circulate the air a little more and they are cheap! But you can use plywood if you like.

Inaccurate title. This is an assembly video not a DIY video. If you're trying to gain subs you need to gain trust. We DIY video junkies are always looking for the next Diresta but we spend so much time on YT that we're also trying to narrow our sub list down to "must see" only. Nice bed, but now I'll look for an actual DIY video on how to build one. Good luck to you.

youdollpete Where does it say he claims he made it. The title says "Queen bed with storage". If he assembled it, it's still a DIY assembly project. He made no claim he made it. Read the title again. Instead of making accusations, why not just ask nicely?

Ollari's I'm sorry, i was under the impression that you actually built this bed yourself.... I see now that you bought it and assembled it.... And simply recorded the assembly. That's why you don't have any specifics on it. Thanks for your response anyway. Nice bed though

Wood is not a good material for constructing these beds as they tend to be very heavy. And when it comes time to move, chances are that bed will have to be disassembled to fit through doorways.
What would be your choice in terms of material? And how would you design a double bed that doesn’t needs to be disassembled when moving?

For single & double beds, I'd construct the bed frame from light metal tubing welded together. 1/4 inch plywood would be used for the lids & bases. Then wrap vinyl sheets around the sides with snap fasteners to hold them in place.

um, so every time you would need something you would have to take off the mattress and lift the boards, not very bright, sliding it under the bed would be easier then having to remove the mattress and lifting up the board.
+Sandra A no. These are called French style beds, and they are very popular for decades. You don't need to remove the mattress or the pillows to lift it up. The lifts are designed so that they handle the extra weight. You get a hard time closing the top without the mattress.
The bed is OK. That is what exactly i was looking for, but the footage is just awful
