Yamai giving his coat at the end, and saying “I was too warm anyways” is such a beautifully satisfying conclusion to his character. Best new character in the game.
I think he might be back, he was basically defending the Matriarch so even if he killed the Patriarch its in self defense. So he might serve like 5 years and be release after the time skip. I don't really much care for Eiji though and I think he might be back as well for 9 as well.
It is sad how Yui Tabata just used Yamai and claimed he assaulted her after she promised to keep Yamai safe But despite that, he still cared for her and I feel sorry for him
Love how his character is just written very well all around, with him giving plenty of reason why the people around him are very loyal and he got a proper closure.
Great character and I realized he never looks like he got beaten up badly like mostly everyone you beat up in the franchise lol. Also he doesnt get mad for losing hes such a cool character props to RGG.
Its incredible how when Yamai was introduced, I thought he was going to be nothing more than an edgy jerk of a villain that you fight a few times and thats it. Imagine my shock that he ended up being one of the coolest side characters in the series. Even the way his goofy Yakuza underlings act is so endearing. Cant wait to see more of him in the future.
So, instead of slowly dying in a hospital as her mind slowly deteriorates, she should die a painfully excruciating death as her eyes turn blue and bleeding?
Yui probably doesn't notice but she's been feeling the same coldness since she betrayed Yamai too. Yamai over came it and gave the warmth to the woman he once loved who lost everything including all the memories.
Danm, RGG studios really know how to write characters. To starting out hating them, to sympathizing and liking them. I say the former matriarch getting alzheimers so young is her punishment for what she did to him, but yamai still cares for her and let's go of his grudge, that right there is great character development. I hope we see him in the next like a dragon game.
When i played the demo i thought he was gonna be some big bad monster boss and then there he was actually being a great ally to you. When his thugs gently pulled the coat off him before fights always amused me 😂
He does a really good job in this character of not sinking into his bass too much. Really sounds like a guy that's weary after all he's been through instead of being some menacing villain
Yamai is still a murderer. I feel Yui should have been the only one to kill and then frame Yamai. I can’t feel sorry for a murderer, especially one who killed to steel the guys wife.
"Steal his bosse's wife" There's not a single moment where he says that. It's explicitly said in the cutscene that the wife will go with yamai's captain after he kills the patriarch. Yamai only killed his patriarch because he was young and stupid plus madly in love with her.

Hats off to Koyasu-san. He sounds so broken and forlorn, what a brilliantly acted scene.
Always knew Yamaii is gonna be the goat. My fav new character in this game

Dio is cooking in this game so far

Ichiban in this story is actually the same. Betrayed by Eiji, but still considering him as a friend.
@@nokia.s3350 he was like that everyone in 7.
Yamai being one of my favorite characters in this game was not what I expected going into this. Wonderful story arc.
It wasn’t Kiryu.
It wasn’t Ichiban.
Yamai giving his coat to her broke me 😢
I hated this guy in the IW demo, but after playing the full game, he's up there with Someya and Kuze for me
Glad to see another Someya appreciator, Kuze gets a lot of (well deserved) love but I really like'd Someya's tragic story.
Someya is legitimately the best villain this series has ever been graced with and I miss that mfer every day
Yamai is a close second though
same along with LJ's duumvirate of antagonists
So I wasn’t tripping, that is the bane of the Jostars’ existence
Love how his character is just written very well all around, with him giving plenty of reason why the people around him are very loyal and he got a proper closure.
that's why HE'S THE GOAAAAAAAAAAT!!! THE GOAAAAAAAAAAAATT!!!!
Great character and I realized he never looks like he got beaten up badly like mostly everyone you beat up in the franchise lol. Also he doesnt get mad for losing hes such a cool character props to RGG.
Man is a beast, out of 5 fight he only KO'd in one, and for short time too
Easily My favorite characther of infinte wealt introduce as big bad boss But turn out to be one of the coolest characther of Yakuza series
Don't worry, he ends up finding asylum over at Ichiban's island not long after
This series lore would be very interesting if the minigames were 100% canon
Yamai more than lived up to the hype.
Of all the yakuza antagonists that'd blindside me with a compelling backstory, I didn't think it'd be Walmart John Wick.
More like Japanese john wick, with slick moves, crowbar included.
John Wick + Jack Sparrow.

I knew from his introduction that Yamai was going to be the best side villain/character in this game, he’s just too cool.
Same but to my shame i only thought that because he hot af 😂

2:25 Shono could've saved Tabata. evil Yagamer ruined her
YAGAMIIIIIII!!
glad i was not the only one who was reminded of judgment when they mentioned alzheimer here
YAGAMERREEERR
I was thinking the same if only Yamai has AD-9 for her.
I, and i guess many other, didn't expect so much depth from a guy who seem like a total monster with only interest is to kill.

When the first trailers dropped the fanbase agreed that Yamai was the standout.
Even one of the producers said that we would love him.
What a great character Yamai is!
I can't wait to play the next game
Y8 was full of flaws, but this scene was one of the best in the franchise
It’s up there but for me it was Kiryu talking to Ebina after their battle
Young Yamai looking like Jesus from The Big Lebowski.
When i played the demo i thought he was gonna be some big bad monster boss and then there he was actually being a great ally to you. When his thugs gently pulled the coat off him before fights always amused me 😂
DIOOOOOOOOOO or ZEEKEEEEEEE
But in here is YAMAIIIIIIII
Kei Ibuchi in Yakuza Kiwami 2
plot twist yamais actually related to ichiban coming rgg9
@@bacesimoI don't mind seeing Japanese John Wick to Japanese Eric Andre like Majima was to Kiryu.
I would fight and die for this man
bro is posting FASTER LIKE WHAT THE HELL
Wow man ... What a great character 👏
When you realize that Dio's voice is also heard in yakuza kiwami 2 😅
Yamai might be one of my favorite characters across all forms of storytelling
Yamai my goat, hope to see him in Yakuza 9 as an ally/party member
At the very least I hope they make him a poundmate summon
Koyasu Takehito.
Yamai is going to join the party in next game.
yamai should get a gaiden game but before that we def need akiyama and majima first
Majima granted
Best scene in Yakuza 8
Yamai = same VA as DIO
Koyasu san really popular
Don't forget that his VA is also involved in Yakuza Kiwami 2 as Kei Ibuchi.
Jin?
He does a really good job in this character of not sinking into his bass too much.

Yamai reminds me of Johnny depp

But still Yui are the one who manipulated Yamai to kill her own husband. Yamai are not a saint but Yui are 100x times worse than him.
@@jovif.spemudaindonesia1841 That s the point. Yamai want revenge but when he see her he forigives
