I know amiami gets a lot of hate from some people but they are really understanding about cancellations so i am a massive advocate of them for their customer experience! Im sorry you couldnt cancel the figure, they should have a system like TOM where you can cancel once! Good luck selling your marin!

@DTTCReviews im so sorry to hear that 😢 I actually had a similar experience with nin nin games, where a bunny arrived missing a part, they wouldn't do anything about it and I had to escalate it with gsc but nin nin wouldn't send me the purchase info. I still don't have the part so it really ruined my experience with nin nin and I haven't ordered from them since (which is sad until then I'd had a great experience!). What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and they've lost out on a loyal customer. You're not the only person I've heard have this experience and I've avoided buying with GSC as a result, sending hugs and good vibes for your sale, there will definitely be a buyer out there!

I once had to cancell a pre order because i selected the non deluxe edition, so i went ahead and pre order the deluxe edition and asked customer service to cancel the first order, they went ahead and do it but not before telling me that they want their customers to only pre order things they can afford and that future cancellations will result in termination of my account, mind you this was the first time i ever requested a cancellation, and i was getting an even more expensive product
@soravalor2 oh I wouldn't worry about that notice... They send that to everyone and it's automated usually. I've canceled sooooo many orders with Amiami... 🫣
I think they refused to cancel at the time because GSC Global was updating to the new site. I miss the old site because you could pay orders using the yen but now unless you are located in Japan, everything is in USD
That might be one of the reasons but regardless they have lost me as a customer... 😬
GSC Global always have had a non cancellation policy all this while, though. IIRC.
That Elaina figure is so good!! I can't believe Good Smile wouldn't let you cancel even once?! I know they have a no cancellation policy, but I was able to cancel a 1/4 scale bunny once, and my brother has been able to cancel a few things from them before. They must be really enforcing it these days, which is a shame. 😢 I've actually started sticking to Good Smile US and AmiAmi for my orders, because of having the option to cancel if needed... Sounds like that was a good decision.

Love the Elaina! Bakugo is nice too and the little gadget guy is adorable. I'm so glad I took just a few short trips on the bunny train. Three 1/4 scales, one of which I've sold and the Mai Sakurajima 1/7 Aniplex bunny. It's too bad you got stuck with the Marin bunny. I have to really, really love a figure before I preorder from a store with no cancellations, but even then, since prototype pictures can be deceiving or appreciation for certain figures diminishes over time, I'm no stranger to reselling figures, lol. Just watched a video from Daijoububu. She's looking to buy a Marin bunny...

I think as a long term customer there should be a little more leeway. I admit I like the option to be able to cancel. There has been a number of figures I've lost a deposit on but that is better than the full amount, shipping and duty! First time ordering with good smile global for the Juvia bunny... but with the changes they have made I'm liking not going to be using it again.
The part that irritates me the most is they used old credit card info in their backend to process the order... 😒
honestly its why I like using BBTS so much only the really big figures require a small downpayment but for the majority you can cancel right up till they get it in their warehouses and even then they warn you a couple days beforehand (shame its only a US shipper)
Haha I've had a figure shipped to Canada by them before but I wouldn't recommend it because the shipping and customs destroyed me... 😫
I have cancelled about 5 figures total for GSC-Global. The most recent one.. They did cancel it... just that they never told me they cancelled it. I am in USA so idk if they Global has regional preference.

I have the Star Guardian Ahri figure myself, I love it, but as a minor complaint, I wish her face and the base lined up.

Had a bunch of bad experiences with GSC too. Albeit the US side. They ship you your order WITHOUT telling you if somethings not in stock anymore. Happened twice. Super frustrating. That and they charged me double for 1 of my purchases for no reason. Waited a few days to see if they sort that out themselves but nope, they waited for me to file a ticket lol

I was under the impression that most stores in Japan do not do cancellations or refunds, with this in mind I always figured it was up to me as a customer to eat it. Like I am very understanding of their rules and I accidentally ordered two of the same JoJo figures I reached out and they explained to me why they don't do cancellation and refunds and honestly it did sound like a hassle for them and for me as well as it has to go through international banking. So even tho they offered to cancel the order for me I opted to keep it and thanked them for their time and for explaining. They typically have set rules in place for a reason and I am okay with that. I learned to be more aware of what I am ordering and to make sure I am 100% happy before I press check out.
In the end I gave the second figure to a good friend of mine since they love the character as much as I do.
This was the first time I've encountered not being able to cancel an order so it was initially a shock to me. The real issue I find is them using my old credit card info from previous purchases to make this one go through... 😒 Lesson learnt but it still stings....
yeah this is so true wish more people understood that canceling a figure is not something you should rely on. don't know why people pre order if they arent 100% they want it. rather wait for a rerun or aftermarket to buy it if i wasn't sure i wanted it
Ooof, I don't think I knew GSC Global didn't allow cancelations. Their US store does so thats kind of strange. I know with Amazon JP some people are able to update their credit card information to an invalid/cancelled credit card and then let their order get cancelled from non payment to get around their non cancelation policy, I wonder if that would have worked on GSC Global too? Any way to dispute the charge since you're not planning to order from them again anyway?
I have also stopped ordering from companies that require any kind of up front payment or have a no-cancellation policy, things are just too uncertain nowadays with shipping cost inflation and stores up and closing overnight. I have trust issues 😅😆
I considered taking further action but ultimately it's on me for using their site so I'll just try to move the Marin... 🫥

It seems like most sites that sell these figures have issues with cancellations. I understand why cancelling after invoice would be a problem but the idea that you would pre-order something a year or more in advance, and it could be delayed or even have design changes by the time it comes out, makes it unacceptable to not allow cancellations. I pre-order very few figures these days. Most are in stock when they come out and if I miss something, oh well.
I'm starting to preorder less and wait for in-stock items as well! 😅 Got a feeling that this Marin is probably gonna bin hard tho...
I am having the same situation with good smile I’ve never heard that before a company not willing to take cancellations is almost illegal in some ways. I’m going to call PayPal as that was my payment method and tell them to block the pending charge on the preordered item.

She's worth opening imo. Got mine from Goodsmile too. They are pretty clear they don't accept cancellations if I'm being pretty fair to them. And they've let me cancel one nendo as they randomly restocked in a sale and I didn't wanna wait for the rerun of the same nendo. But other than that I don't think I've cancelled before.
But honestly I'm really pleased with my Marin bunny. She looks a lot better in real life much like a few others from freeing.

Good smile doesn’t allow cancelation, so if you change your mind you have to take off your credit card from paypal, so that the payment fails lol

Yeah, I modified that marin kitagawa bunny. Put a bow tie, made clothes, painted the base. Looks way better. Wish Freeing actually cared.

Sorry to hear about your experience with GSC. Perhaps I have been lucky with not having any regrets but you can’t beat the 2000JPY deal with shipping that is at least EMS. Speaking for myself the Marin bunny looked off from the get go hence I didn’t buy her. Got her Aniplex ones, though 😗👌🏻

Hmm...In my opinion think the some other Elaina figures look better than the KDColle one. While Elaina herself looks good in the KDColle figure, and part of the base too, it's the steam and clear effects that look cheap and sadly this wasn't a cheap figure. 29K yen at the shop i wanted to order and without shipping included. Resin would have done more justice for the clear pieces and maybe then i would be more ok with the price.
Wish they would one day combine PVC and resin in figures. The best of both ends. This is also a reason i don't buy Estream, it just looks cheap.
At home i have Goodsmile, F:Nex summer dress, Bellfine DX and Proof for scale figures. All these came with a magnet for the hat too. And i have some prizes. The GSC and Proof figures looking the best.
Next i think i will try to get Proof Saya to fit next to Proof Elaina. And i did order the nendoroid, somehow the rerun is 30 euro less expensive than the first price.
Ngl I considered the Proof versions highly too before I went with thr KDColle one. Crazy to think your shop had her for almost 7000 yen more... 🤯
I'm advocating for magnets to be in figures more since they're soooo good at hiding seamlines and overall just elevate the premium feel! 😆

Oh Derick, why do you influence me so? Ugh! Check this out, so after seeing your unboxing of Elaina, I decided to check her out on some shops with the possibility of buying her. I remembered you saying Kadokowa made good figures so I, stupidly, broadened my search from Elaina to 'Kadokowa'. Why did I do that? Haha! I ended up discovering figure I've had my eye on released and decided to pick her up instead. The figure? Lily from Spy Classroom, the sitting version. I'm a sucker for figures based off of cover/poster art. Elaina is absolutely stunning but the witch lost to the spy this time around.
Hahaha spies are pretty powerful in anime so I'm not too surprised! 🤣🤣🤣 Hopefully, my powers are for good and won't cost you too much in the long run... 😅

Looking into figures produced by Kadokowa not only informed me the Spy Room figure I'd wanted had released, but I saw AmiAmi had the figure on sale! Got her for only $124.00 USD (she's been going for over $200 most everywhere else). I started watching the anime and loving it so getting Lily was a good decision.

Yo D! When I saw that Marin bunny, I legitimately thought you'd been ripped off with a counterfeit. Haha. Sorry you couldn't cancel. I live in the states and only use GSC Global for in stock orders. Great option for when you know the box is huge (B-styles, for example).

I just got a 1/8 altina from ebay that was supposed to have the extra face. It was not there so I lost 20 extra bucks for no reason. Collecting can be rough.

Sucks to hear they wouldn't let you cancel. So odd that sometimes they do cancel and other times they don't.
I don't tend to order from them because the customs is always so much worse because of the company they use and I can't combine preorders. I got hit with like $35cad on each of my Tsubasa nendoroids from them so with shipping it basically doubled their price.

Don't impulse buy and it won't be a problem. Many places don't offer cancellations either so I'm not sure why a figure collecting veteran such as yourself is shocked and offended.

Don't pre-order with the expectation of a possible cancellation. Stop being trigger happy and think a bit longer if you want to purchase or not.

faxs people are always walking on thin ice hoping god is gonna be on there side when they wanna cancel it. Rather wait for rerelease or aftermarket if i wast 100% sure i wanted the figure. so why even bother taking that risk 🤷🤷
I think cancelling should be allowed. And when you cancel you pay a small fee of the original price, like a 5% fee. This seems like a good solution. You can still cancel if you don't like the figure anymore but maybe it will prevent people from cancelling because they suddenly can find it cheaper elsewhere. Also think the anime market for figures and merch should be less made to pre order. Nowadays it seems that you have to pre order for everything, even a keychain. I prefer to buy in stock items.

As I am a fairly prudent shopper who rarely buys anything super expensive on impulse, I haven't had too many of these situations happening to me. Even when they did, I was able to reach out to the respect retailer to request a cancellation, to which, in most cases, they obliged. But yes, outside of the pandemic period, GSC Global doesn't mess around when it comes to enforcing their policies on pre-orders. Several of my friends attempted to cancel their pre-orders with GSC Global in the past year and their experience very much aligned with yours. It is very interesting that, despite GSC's US counterpart's much more lenient policy when it comes to cancellation and GSC Support's willingness to send out replacement parts, GSC Global presents a stark contrast in this regard. They likely consider pre-order ab contractual commitment and their lower shipping cost an incentive (at least in individual items since they can't be combined these days). Of course, this also explains why the US branch has their figures on sale and hosts clearance event such as mystery box periodically.
I am sure you will have no trouble offloading Marin. She is a super popular character and someone will be interested in picking her up. It would be more of a dilemma if this was someone more obscure.

- Most Japanese online retailers were more accommodating during the lockdown, but they have definitely been swinging the other direction since. I was always able to request a refund if I do it quickly with a sound financial reason. I can empathize with what happened to you though. Many of my friends have expressed similar experience when seeking cancellations and refunds. Sometimes it goes through. Sometimes they don't. Given GSC US's lenient practice when it comes to cancellation and GSC Support's willingness to send you replacement for even minor defects, it is interesting to see how strict GSC Global is in this regard. I am sure you will have no trouble selling Marin. She is super popular and I am sure someone will be interested in taking her off your hands.
