Like I said y’all, I’m self taught so my language will not be perfect. I have a lot to learn so happy to receive feedback constructively and respectfully ☺️ Please feel free to cross check this info but I figured it would be a helpful starting point I know how overwhelmed I was when I first started doing my research so I hope this at least gives a loose framework
LOL as I listen to you talk about the cam settings, I realize we have the same exact thinking and are at pretty much the same place right now in terms of exploring our filmmaking passions. It’s so cool to come across someone like you who share the same views. I’m not so much into colors grading yet so I try to get as much in camera as I can so I don’t have to do much but I will say I’m at the beginning of exploring color grading. And we have the same camera too! This filmmaking stuff gets me excited!
Amazing video and explanation!! As a fellow (novice) photographer trying to expand into video, this is very well done. Appreciate the non-scripted/natural approach. Currently using the zv-1f with a lens mod and this speaks to my process as well. Guess I gotta learn to color grade too. Continued success!!👍🏾💯
First off you’re gorgeous, and this video was so nice looking 💓!! Crazy because I have been contemplating getting the exact camera you mentioned so 😅 I might have to go ahead and proceed with that lol. Can’t wait to see more of your content 🌟
If you’re interested in the Sony fx3 you should try the Sony ZV-E1. Half the price and very very similar to the fx3… BUT if you’re anything like me, you want what you want! Lol
Hello Dear, here watching and supporting, my fellow content creator, thanks for posting this content, here to encourage you to keep going, and keep pushing forward, thumbs up and blessings to you.
Great video! Can you please add Amazon links in the future? I only feel comfortable to purchase there and I went to grab the light set up! Keep going with the vids, thanks for a great session sis!
Thank you for this video-it was so helpful! I want to get into filmmaking and editorial fashion photography. I don't have a budget high enough for the A7C, and I'm looking for an affordable option. I'm thinking of getting a high-quality lens but a cheaper body. Do you have any recommendations? Also, your content is lush! I discovered you on Pinterest and I'm loving the yt vids xx
I don’t know much about the specs but I will say the lens you use is probably more impactful than the body! Since it shoots in 4K I know you can get some beautiful footage out of it
im just here to remind you to post more often....i just randomly came across your vids and you would have like 500k subs easy if you posted more. You have a really nice aesthetic and personality.
this is cool damilola left photography for sometime due to tech but now im trying get into creating contents on tik an insta you video is really cool you really making me remember the reason why i learnt photography 🤣
@@DamolaAkintunde Me I prefer zoom lenses due to the versatility and future proofing as your skills get more advanced. So probably 24/28-70mm Sony Gmaster or Sigma equivalent. They give a nice clean look. Higher end just rent from a local camera renal house, they'll have a wide range to show and describe to you. Audio is a whole rabbit whole but @thinkmedia did a great video titled, "Best Wireless Mic for Video in 2025 (Cheap to Expensive)"
This quality is amazing... I know you have a camera preference. But can you tell us tricks to get great quality like this with a Canon G7X hahaha .... might be a reach. But even the lighting is perfect here
One thing. Clip the mic on the inside. You also do not need the WIND MUFF on the mic when INDOORS. thats-professional treatment. The "grid" is a diagram on the monitor that helps with composition. Your reference to the grid is called an EGG CRATE. This is basics in video lighting. Cinematic is an entirely different thing.
@@DamolaAkintundeI say nothing wrong with the mic on the outside or the wind muff. I use mine inside and outside because if I ever get excited in my videos and inflect to a higher pitch I don’t want my audio clipping. This is an educational video not a movie so seeing it is no big deal. Looks crispy like a movie though 😊
@@Marketinginhereyes wind muffs do not prevent distortion. It stops wind, hence wind muff. Proper leveling prevents distortion. That windmuff indoors is a "content creator amateurish show off" trend. When you reach higher levels of video, you will never see that. Even with the higher-up TH-camrs, you will never see that. PLUS, it's not flattering when it's pulling her sweater down.. At the very least, you can use a lavalier or lav mic for short. If a content creator wants to get sponsored or a brand deal, little things like this matter in this digital media age.
@@DamolaAkintunde@DamolaAkintunde ok, it does, and so does egg crate. They use the grid in the way people use cinematic, plus they use it for selling products. In the "industry," it is egg crate. If you google what is a grid in video... "A "grid" in video refers to a visual overlay of lines, usually dividing the frame into equal sections (like a tic-tac-toe board), used as a compositional guide to help filmmakers place subjects and elements within the shot" If you google what is an egg crate..."an "egg crate" refers to a light control grid, often attached to a lighting fixture, that has a honeycomb-like structure designed to direct and focus the light beam, preventing light spill and allowing for more precise control over where the light hits on a subject;"
I've been waiting for this videooo!! I'm still shooting with a Canon EOS M6 Mark II w/ a 50mm lens, but I want to elevate my lighting setup to look similar to professional beauty videos. I'll keep you updated with any improvements I see after applying your tips 🥰
I like you. More confidence. Less doubting yourself. More conversations about the thing. Will help you explain the thing. KNOW THE TERMINOLOGY. Be the subject matter expert!
Look at the Sony FX30, also. The only difference between the FX30 and FX3 is that the FX3 is full frame thus costing more. Otherwise, all of the guts are the same.
Let me provide some clarifications.... FYI, I am a professional videographer. So, save these notes and redo this video. One thing. Clip the mic on the inside. You also do not need the WIND MUFF on the mic when INDOORS. thats-professional treatment. The mic would not be dangling on your sweater like that. In cinema, no mics are shown. Some may be clipped or hanging above your head. Content creators do the "clip the fat mic so everyone can see it" mode. Also the key light and rim light should not be on the same side. As you sit on the sofa, the golden/tungsten/organgish - backlight/hairlight should not be on the same side as the key light. The "grid" is a diagram on the monitor that helps with composition. Your reference to the grid is called an EGG CRATE. These are the basics of video lighting. Cinematic is an entirely different thing. In that setting, you should be in 1.8 (for more DOF or depth field, which many people use in the cinematic term). It would have been good so you would see the light switches on the wall. If more light came in, you would turn the ISO down. A backlight, also called a hair light, separates you from the background, not a BOUNCE, as you describe BOUNCING the light off the wall. A backlight is pointed at the subject from behind, not on a wall or in the background. That's totally not true on the 1.8 as far as sharper. The subject in focus would definitely be sharper. The background, which you may want to see, will be blurred out. Shooting at 24 frames also lets in more light. In your setting/scene, 30 would be better. 24 creates motion blur in film treatment, not in the talking headpieces you are doing For most high-end cameras, 800 is the standard ISO and lower outside. 100 will ultimately have you too dark.
Thanks for all of this clarification! I’m sure others can reference this since you have a great grasp on the language. Like I said I’m self taught so I’m always opening to learning 💛 Also the cinematic aspect is in reference to my other videos I’ve created that you might have missed. I and many other people use “cinematic” colloquially these days to make it easier for people to find content like this.
