20k people. Wait until you see BABYMETAL perform at the Tokyo dome. 55k and they did that 2 nights in a row. 🤘🦊🤘
I love the sing along part in this. It just shows the amount of love in that arena. Pure positive energy. And yes you will never see these girls be sexual or sexualized. They were always cute and grew up to be beautiful women and it is ok to recognize that, but they are always covered up and treated with respect by fans. Most fans anyway. You will always have those that act like they never seen a female before.
    We are!? BABYMETAL!!! 🤘🦊🤘

Finally you're watching this epic anthem. They just released another banger collaboration with Tom Morello called "METALI!!" and everyone is having a blast with that as well the Summer Sonic Festival.

you're right about these women being un-western in their presentation and affect. Yes, they're cute/beautiful, but sex is not their schtick. Their schtick is joy, energy, passion for connecting with their audience.

Nice reaction! This is why I love and respect Babymetal so much. Zero sexualization, zero political messaging, just uplifting, wholesome, and fun. Not to mention awesome music and performances.
Not saying I dislike “edgy stuff”, but I see waaaay to much of it daily and it gets old. Babymetal always has a knack to go against the norm while kicking ass and taking names.

Considering how young they are here, this is an amazing performance. Most adult bands couldn't pull off a show like this. They still play this at shows all the time. Check out their new music vid METALI that came out yesterday to hear something new. Thanks for the reaction, nice job.

  • @Grington300
    @Grington300 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Great reaction. As you saw, this video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15, over 20,000 people completely under their control (they have played bigger arenas since - especially Tokyo Dome in 2016 - 55k people two nights running). Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, I think it was, 21 mosh pits).
This was also the end of a 90 minute concert - they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world.
I like that you appreciate they don't have to sing about anything sexual, they don't expose any skin, no suggestive dance moves, no twerking or shaking butts, no grabbing crotches - there is absolutely nothing questionable about anything they do ... and they electrify their audiences purely through their music and talents.
About the song itself - 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way.
It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow.
Herman Li and Sam Totman from British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London later in 2015.
This was the Kami Band playing live of course, each one of them is a world class musician, I'm glad you take notice of them (so do the BABYMETAL fans, don't worry about that). In this concert the Kami Band were Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars with BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.

Nice reaction. Babymetal faced the Road of Resistance when they started out. Metal gatekeepers just couldn't except them. Babymetal through hard work and persistence paved their own way. This song is a strong positive uplifting message. If you're ever feeling a bit down or thinking this job is too hard or anything along those lines. Put Babymetal on and feel their encouraging energy. Their songs even do well as gym workout music. Motivational even without understanding a single word you can feel how they want you to go forward even if you have to make your own road. At the end Su screams "We Are" and Yui and Moa lead the audience with "Babymetal". They say this because they feel the audience is part of the show and therefor part of Babymetal. "We are Babymetal" is everyone there. That's a big band. LOL. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

This ROR performance is my favorite, but just optically. When they opened their show in 2016 at sold out Tokyo Dome with Road of Resistance, the atmosphere was like nothing else. Imagine the voices of 55.000 people echoing through the whole dome. Moa had tears in her eyes hearing 55k people chanting their song. 😊
Btw, yesterday they released their new music video "METALI" featuring Tom Morello from Rage against the machine. I suggest you to take a dive into this next. It's a song where the crowd definitely will go absolutely nuts 😁

Don't worry too much about the pausing...it's a reaction video, that's the point. We want to hear your thoughts and people should understand the copyright issue by now. Classic course in crowd control and interaction. From Su's call to for a wall of death at the beginning just by signaling with her arms, to the chanting in the middle (no other band I know of can stop a circle-pit mid-song for crowd participation and then start it back up again) and the call and response at the end "We Are?....BABYMETAL!", which by the way about six minutes of was cut in post editing as the girls went down the 2 side bridges in order to interact with as many fans as possible.
To see how far Babymetal will go to get close to their fans, you need to react to the official MV for "The ONE".

Road of Resistance: Live In Japan 🇯🇵 @"Saitama Super Arena (SSA):-
"Road of Resistance" is a song by the Japanese Kawaii metal band Babymetal. The song was released worldwide as a digital single on February 1, 2015 by Toy's Factory, serving as the lead single off the international re-release of the album Babymetal, as well the opening track from Metal Resistance. Su-Metal was 10 when she performed with Karen Girls at the SSA (SAITAMA SUPER ARENA). The Arena that night holds about 20000 Babymetal fans but when you see the centrepiece Island and the two curve bridge, it can hold up to 30000 or even up to 40000 depends on the configuration of Babymetal concert for each tour they performed. This song is co-written by Dragonforce with Herman Li and Sam Totman plays the guitar 🎸 solos, but Kami Band live show is brutal and tight. This is a classic Power Metal genre or speed metal as some might refer to. Bands like Dragonforce, Helloween and even Sabaton do power metal genre. Arkadia from Metal Galaxy Album is the successor to Road Of Resistance. At 17 Su-Metal alongside Yuimetal and Moametal who is 15 at that time, gave a perfect 👌 performance on how live show should be. This performance alone cemented my love ❤️ and appreciation for Babymetal. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘😍💕🌸🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult. .

Just loved your comments on this video. So sad but true that so many of our performers have to go overtly sexual to please their audience. An important part of the Babymetal message has been to steer clear of any sort of that energy. Their messages are positive, uplifting and they present them through the power of their performance. And you picked up on another big part of Babymetal, their music is always written to include the audience. Which has a lot to do with how passionate the fans are. Just a great reaction here, nicely done.

Fair warning: you are about to get flamed. Regarding your comment about female concert attendance numbers: I just looked it up and found that Taylor Swift, during her last tour, AVERAGED about 54,000 people (recently, Swift beat out a 1987 record set by Madonna of 63,000 in the U.S. with a single concert attendance of 69,000); Lady Gaga, on July 24, 2022, in France, had one concert with 78,000 attendees. In fact, BABYMETAL was the opening act for Lady Gaga in 2014. Short version: American women are getting it done.
Second flame: you are pausing way too much! This BABYMETAL video is eight minutes forty-eight seconds long and you paused NINETEEN times! That's an average of one pause every 28 seconds. Hell, your first pause was just 12 seconds into the video, then paused again a mere seven seconds later - in fact, you paused FOUR times before one minute of the video played. Irony: at about two minutes into your reaction video, you say, "I'll try not to pause as much." Yeah, right! IMO, you shouldn't pause any more that four times during any video - five max.
Don't get me wrong, it's good to be enthusiastic about BABYMETAL but keep your hands in your pockets! I KNOW I've called you out on this before. 🙂
