  • Ok, so not every weapon ever. I forgot about the Roman Scissor. But we don't know much about that anyway.
    But here is a video on A LOT of Fist Weapons, which has some iverlap with my Elden Ring videos.
    Covered are the katar, Pata, bagh nakha, brass knuckles, cestus, deer horn knives, emeici/ emai daggers, finger and wrist knives, gauntlet gadlings, and more
    #list #weapons #history

    I think Hammers, Clubs and Maces next would be cool. Like you had Henry 8's Holy Water Sprinkler, a spiky shooty club, but then you have the Leiomano Wikipedia tells me, (I googled shark tooth club), which had shark teeth sewn into a club. Just...bonk'n'stab. Works.

    Tekko Kagi. The main claw weapon in existence. You see them all the time in video games, especially old school retro beat em up's. Their was always an enemy or boss with claws. Obviously mainstream character's like Vega from Street Fighter, and Wolverine from X-Men are prime examples. And there weapon's are inspired from the Ninja Weapon Tekko Kagi's.
    Baraka and Blood Rayner's weapon were more so inspired by the Pata explained in this video.

      @@reggyjohnson9083 if you can comfortably hold a fist with a roll of quarters go for it, the extra mass alone of a roll of quarters adds a sizable amount to your punch, try it on a punching machine sometime. Pennies are surely most cost effective haha

    I can't remember if it was a fantasy piece or just a unique one off variant or possibly even a Victorian collector tampered piece, but I remember seeing basically an Indian Pata but no with no blade but covered in studs/spikes.
    basically if someone wanted a Morningstar as a boxing glove.

    I think if you were to make more videos in this format you should make them with increasing weapon size. So like from first to daggers to short swords and so on.

    • @MarcusVance

      You know, I can't think of many overarching advancements we can make to weapons...
      With bows it was "I want to shoot further and harder with less work".
      We've gotten to the point where guns are that. Hit far, hard, and easily.
      Sure, we could do caseless ammo, gauss weapons, and even energy weapons. But they won't really be a drastic improvement.
      They'd be better, but not "going from bows to AR15" level better.

    Were there ever any feet based weapons? Ie reinforced boots for extra kicking power, or blades strapped to your feet for an extra unfun surprise?

    • @MarcusVance
      @MarcusVance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good idea for a video...
      In short, not really. It's harder to parry with a foot weapon, and has limited options.
      Although there were some shoe knives used allegedly by spies and gangsters.

    Hey Vance, just a daily reminder that your best power armor in all sci-fi should very much include comic book superhero and manga/anime stuff and if it doesn't you're ignoring quite the body of sci-fi works because of an anti comic book superhero and manga/anime bias. So in other words, I am Iron Man.

    • @MarcusVance
      @MarcusVance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      I don't include every single comic and anime power armor for reasons that I'd be more than happy to discuss with someone who doesn't demand certain content and throw around easily debunked accusations.
      "Hey Marcus, why do you rarely talk about Iron Man or Captain America when talking about power armor or super soldiers?"
      That phrasing would have led to an answer.

    • @VunderGuy
      @VunderGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarcusVance
      So you're ignoring a particular branch of sci-fi in your 'Best Power Armors in sci-fi' because you don't like those particular branches. Good to know you only consider space opera or planetary romance valid forms of sci-fi.

    • @VunderGuy
      @VunderGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarcusVance
      For the record, I was only asking you to include stuff from those mediums and subgenres, not everything, because that still counts as sci-fi even if out of your channel's particular focus. The title of the video is top power armors in sci-fi after all, not top power armors in my preferred mediums and subgenres. Or are you really just that afraid of mentioning all the bolostomps over 40K armors, Halo armors, and etc?
