Lol! One of the best commentaries I ever heard. You're hilarious and made me laugh multiple times. (Especially the Vanna White bits and the relatable chaos of creating.) Glad I found your channel.
I should have called you “Vanna”. It was my second choice. But, Lydia does work for you! Very informative and instructive video. Makes me (almost) want to create collage paper! Keep up the great work!
great idea to take photos when you get them laid out the way you want to use them. I had not thought of that one. Deli paper is the bomb for sure. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Great video, I really liked the girl who did the demos for you. As always, a very informative and entertaining tutorial. Your signature tip is a stroke of genius. I want to try some of this stuff out - I usually limit my collage to torn up newsprint and book pages. Your mixed media backgrounds are really quite stunning. Thank you.
I love your videos! So uniquely you! And always so informative. I use gelli plates too but I LOVE your method!!!! Rice and deli paper (and recycled crumbled up tissue paper) are my favorite ways to create collage papers. I’m gonna have to try the spray on paper with the letter stencils! I always use matte medium gel and swipe over a color (or three) with a palette knife for some texture. This is FUN!!!! Making the paper is more than half the fun! And I love adding Stamps over the paint too. I also love how the transparency of the deli and rice paper leaves the color but the paper fades away when you add it to your canvas! Thanks for the pro tip about laying down your composition and take a pic with the phone. WHY had I never thought of that????? And thanks for the tip using a catalyst wedge to get the air bubbles out! I’m usually swiping and swiping with my brush and my matte medium gel! LOVED this video Lydia!!!! You are incredibly talented! ❤ xx ~ Jan
I am so happy you found this video helpful! I agree with you about making the paper... The possibilities are limitless! I get so excited seeing a piece come together. Being able to still see each layer in the finished product is a treat!😁
Thank you so much Lydia, I really really enjoyed watching you create that amazing and awesome canvas and I really really love ❤️ how this turned out. Stunningly beautiful too. I’ve subscribed and given you a thumb’s up too. Please stay safe and well too
I am so glad to have found you. Love your tutorials and techniques. You are so talented. I searched our Canadian craft stores like Michaels and even Hobby Lobby in the U.S. and Amazon but cannot find Liquitex Spray Paint. Would you be able to supply a link to this paint please. Thanks for everything you do.
Love this! Thank you so much for this video. Now to work on getting some deli paper, some stamps, some ink...whew, just thinking about putting together more crafty stuff is making me need a nap! Thanks, again, Lydia...you are my favorite
I just discovered your channel today whilst searching for mixed media ideas. Wow, I absolutely love your artwork, it’s super creative, expressive and imaginative. I paint in acrylics, but want to move to the more spontaneous mixed media. It looks to be so much fun with more freedom to express yourself in a different way. I understand the use of transparent paints to reveal each layer, which is very pleasing to the eye, but I wondered if you use opaques at some stage? Also, the deli paper? I’m from the UK and wonder what could be used there instead, I’m really enjoying your videos, they not only show your beautiful art but are very instructive and I’m learning a lot from them. Many thanks. ❤ 0:09
Hi Elizabeth! Thank you so much for the comment! I do use opaques for highlights and some midtones. As far as deli paper in the UK... There is an alternative that I started using which is just as good if not better. It's wet strength tissue paper by Carnival Papers. I order it from Amazon and it comes in large sheets that you can cut down. It doesn't tear and it's very transparent. Here's the link although it's a link I use for the U.S. but it might help you find the product on Amazon UK.😊 Carnival Papers Wet Strength White Tissue Paper Alternative to Deli Paper for Model Making, Geli Printing, Mixed Media Crafts etc Resistant to Tearing When Wet (10) a.co/d/i1CbhJf
Thank you so much for your reply and for answering my questions. I found the exact paper you recommended on Amazon UK so I’ve ordered that to make a start on creating some interesting effects. In the meantime I’ll be watching more of your informative videos. Thanks again.
Btw I've actually been in hospital ... but on the mend now ... thats why I've suddenly binge watched all your vids to catch up and commenting on them all at once haha ... its deffo making me miss and look forward to getting back in my art room 😊 you always inspire me ... also how is your son doing and has your migraines been better ? 😊
This is soo clean, tidy and organized compared to my studio! You have to see it to believe it. It's kinda scary really. Too small for my many interests, what can I say.
Your work space looks like mine. I think i have a messy ghost who lives with me bc nothing stays where i put it. I don't have a cat or dog. Thought about getting a couple of fish . . . Thank you for sharing. I subscribed. I love your technique ❤.
Watching all your mixed media/grunge/abstrat realism videos to see if I can translate them to my digital art. And, as someone else said, that gal who plays Vanna does a good job ;)
I love tour Mixed media techniques and gives a lot of inspiration and I also love handwriting and using some of my own poems as text 🙃 so I love using scrapphitto pens writing and drawing in wet layers of paint 🎶🧡🩷❤️🎵
Great video! Thanks so much for the info. I’m a newbie to mixed media but wanna give it a try. I love your videos….you crack me up! You are very talented and have a great personality! Can’t wait to see your next one. I am a subscriber for sure!
Hi! Just found your channel. Love your talent and wit. Can't wait to try this. Could you please link the tissue paper and the deli paper from Amazon??? I want to make sure I'm getting the right papers. Thanks so much! ☺
Thank you!!! If you use deli paper, make sure it's unwaxed, but these days I use a wet strength tissue paper by Carnival papers. Here's the link... Carnival Papers Wet Strength White Tissue Paper Alternative to Deli Paper for Model Making, Geli Printing, Mixed Media Crafts etc Resistant to Tearing When Wet (10) a.co/d/i1CbhJf
Omg! Something I’ve never tried! Nice! That paper is so cool! I must get some. Your examples have given me ideas, thank you! I can’t wait for the spooky projects too! 🧌🧟♀️💀👻
I was wondering what brand of deli paper you use. I have parchment paper that isn't transparent when boned to my canvas, also, onion skin paper is still whitish as well.
@@traces2807 Hi! So what I use now is wet strength tissue paper. Works even better! Carnival Papers Wet Strength White Tissue Paper Alternative to Deli Paper for Model Making, Geli Printing, Mixed Media Crafts etc Resistant to Tearing When Wet (10) a.co/d/i1CbhJf
I love to work with mixed media and I have watched this video so many times, the ideas are amazing! Would thin tracing paper work also? What is your suggestion for rating the paper choices as far as most effective for transparency? Tracing paper, rice paper, deli paper, wet strength tissue paper? I see many choices on Amazon for tissue paper but not all of them specifically state if they are wet strength. Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge and ideas 😊❤
Hi!!! So far my favorite is wet strength tissue paper. I'm pretty sure I put the link in the video description for the exact brand I use. I've never tried tracing paper. I'd be interested to see how it works! Thank you!!!
Hi Lydia! I just found your channel recently and subbed right away! I'm binging all your videos and loving them! So I have a question...if I do a painting with a background using deli paper as shown, will that be lightfast and able to be sold? Thanks!
Hi! Yes it will be as long as you attach it with a quality medium. If you use deli paper, make sure it's unwaxed. I started using wet strength tissue paper which is even better. I put a link in the description I believe. Thank you so much!❤
Hi Lydia I'm a newbie to this wonderful mixed media collage world! Love your work and fun vibe! Question....is the deli paper waxed or matt? Asking for a friend;))
Hi Shelley! The deli paper is matte. There is a wet strength tissue paper that I started using and it's even better than deli paper. It's by carnival papers and you can get it from Amazon.
I love love LOVE your videos and artwork! When using stencils and scripts, do we have to worry about copyrights or referencing the stencil maker, etc.? Thank you for the amazing inspiration!!
I prefer wet strength tissue paper. Carnival is the brand I use. Unwaxed deli paper is hard to find where I am. I usually order online. Parchment sometimes has a silicone finish and that doesn't work. It's also thicker and you won't get the transparency. I hope that helps.😊
“There is chaos everywhere, the tidiness does not last long”. That had me laughing because it is so very true!
along with your advice and examples, YOU ARE SO MUCH FUN. And fun music X
Fantastic tutorial. Loved the rain sounds outside. (it's been raining for the past week in Melbourne Australia too).

Great video. Thanks for the tip for getting bubbles out, sometimes I don’t see them before it’s too late, the wedge will solve that issue. ❤
