What’s interesting about the new flat screen / LED TVs and dogs watching, is that a dog’s vision is essentially in less FPS than ours so the old tube TVs would be a bunch of horizontal lines moving from bottom to top. Since the new LED TVs use a different technology, dogs can see what we see.

Based in this episode, I actually recommended the mouse wheel as a food dish to one of my dog training students with the same issue. It really works!
This is a nice cheap easy option but I've seen elevated food bowls in store.. and if not in store then go online
@@queenl7177 You're right. I'm not sure how old this show is; elevated bowls are more available now than they used to be. Also, the dog I recommended it for was tiny; an elevated bowl was too high.

Inbreeding... We had a toy Pekingese when I was a kid that used to forget how to bark. He would go to bark, and he would kind of sneeze. He would do that a few times before he would bark. He did it really every time. *Sigh* just special he was ..

I use the same social mirroring technique when I need to give an antacid to my dog. He doesn't like taking them, i think because they have a fizzy/grainy texture, but I pretend to nibble on it before offering it and he takes it.
@LG-jb9zs I use Pepto Bismol With A Syringe When My Dogs Have A Upset Stomach, Have You Ever Tried Pumpkin Puree, It's Good For Dogs Gut Health , This Can Be Used Daily, But Ask Your Vet First!!

I have a Boston Terrier which is a flat faced dog with a reputation for bad wind. After a she had a few episodes of gastritis we changed her diet from mass produced store bought food to plain cooked meats & veges that the specialty dog food place down the road cooks in store & probiotics. Now she hardly ever farts & when she does it’s nowhere near as bad. No tummy upsets either.

The hand feeding is what kills me, just like a human child, They get hungry enough they’ll eat I get not wanting the pup to go hungry but they wouldn’t last more than a day in most cases. People smh 🤦🏻♂️

How do you feel about kibbles and cooked food (or now popular refrigerated cooked food sold online or in stores)? Vets were onto keep on sensitive stomach and skin kibbles yet so many pet parents kept commenting it’s the kibbles not healthy though the rescue dog came with issues before adoption. Yet blood tests etc are normal. Anxiety diarrhea is more of a behavior issues than a medical issues as long trying other measures to lessen or eliminate whatever anxieties (like moving home seeing us packing and loading and unloading). Curious of your thoughts

As someone who owns not one but two frenchies I would like to say they are very much full of it when they say she's taking over their lives. One of my boys is hand fed, so I trained him to go to the "Dinner position" which means jump on the couch then he eats what I give him. It takes no more than 5mins or so to feed him his dinner piece by piece. As for the 1hr a meal cooking. C'mon don't exaggerate! it's just a bit of meat or fish. You chuck it in the oven or the pan til it's cooked, cut it up then feed it. If it legit does take that long theres nothing wrong with cooking big batches and setting it aside for multiple dinners *shrug* Having to carry down the stairs is inconvinent but if it saves your dog having a fall and hurting her back isn't that better?? As for the TV thing yep. That would annoy the crap out of me but again. I'd hardly say it's an issue that would be "taking over my whole life"
Definitely. It only takes me around 3 hrs to make 4 weeks of homemade dinners for my border collie. He has about 400g in each meal.
Same! I have a poodle mix about the same size as a Frenchie, takes me an hour to make a full week's worth of food for her and a cat.
The exaggeration in this episode is too much and that telly routine was useless.
My dogs eats raw and cooked and their stomachs are fine.

This dog makes very strange noises! I have heard that squashed-nose breeds can have breathing issues. I don’t understand the appeal. Then again, I am not a dog person. I watch these videos to help me understand dogs so I hopefully become less fearful of them (many bad experiences with poorly-trained pups!).

A dog (or cat) with such a flat face can't eat from a bowl and breathe properly. I had a Persian cat with the same issue. I fed him with chopsticks for his 17 years. The hamster wheel was a great idea. Sometimes experimentation is required to see what works. And no, they will not eat even when really hungry if they can't access the food properly. (Jan Griffiths).
