After knowing he produced this, I bet it will make a lot of sense if you've also heard some of the other tracks he's produced, such as "Da Rockwilder" by Method Man and Redman, "Da Joint" by EPMD, "Oh No" by Mos Def, Pharaohe Monch, and Nate Dogg, or another one of Jay-Z's hits "Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up)."

A lot of the Dynasty album represented that transition from the street hustler Jay-Z on Vol 3 to the more pensive and personal Jay-Z off the Blueprint. That's why we have the weird mix of bouncy tracks like this one and the one featuring Snoop Dogg mixed in with deep soulful cuts like Cant Be Life. Ultimately it makes an album which most people found to be garbage and with a confused direction most of the time but one which also retrospectively can be seen as hella important in the career path of Jay-Z
