Can people stop hating on this song. This song is based on her relationship with God and not yours. If you want to be religious with big theories and your own dogmas keep your opinions to your self. Everyone listens to what they could relate to, and if you can't relate to it then just keep it moving. The church is not about debating with the church but instead being united. GOD BLESS.

I'm on retreat today doing the Examen. And I cant help thinking as I reflected on the day to come that as I offer it to God that its a journey of discovery, like a race with a young child where you slow so they can catch you. The face of that child as they catch you...delight yourself in him. Heh, its probably not gonna make our churches playlist for Sunday's but made me smile.

I had a vision during worship at Bethel Church in 2007, that I was standing along a riverbank facing towards the river in a line of people, and as I looked down the line I saw Jesus in the distance greeting people, and He was coming up the line towards me! And I was like... "Wow!! Jesus is greeting each person, and He's coming up towards me!!" and then I looked down the line again to see where He was, and He was still coming up the line greeting people but then He stopped coming up the line about 30 meters away and looked directly at me and smiled and walked the other way, and I was like "Eh?! Where you going?! Come back here! This way!! Ok, well I am coming after You!!" ... I thought by the end of the worship I'd have my encounter with Jesus but seven years later I'm still chasing Him!!! He likes the chase I think!! To be honest, I am a little tired now, but I am laughing cos I know this song was to encourage me that the chase has been such an awesome adventure and I know one day very soon I will see Him face to face, and when I do- I want more than a quick hello! ;-)

i think people should check out the song stories for these songs before they started to judge...what matters most is that God sees all heart and He knows true worship when He sees (and hears) it.

For me, the song reflects the personal nature of the relationship being highlighted. The closeness I seek with my Lord, should be so personal. A relationship that transcends any with my family, friends, girlfriend, or future wife. He is someone that I trust and connect with in a deeper way than I could imagine with anyone else. However, He always calls me deeper into Him. This relationship brings me to a place of worship and desire that goes beyond addressing what I already know the gospel says about Him. It makes me chase after His heart. Blessings!

Identifying depth with the non-appearance of certain musical devices is itself shallow. As you said, the guitar is amazing. What makes Bieber creatively shallow is not that his music uses clicks or anything else, it's the fact that he is dependent on these things, and has nothing else really to bring to the table.
First half is God pursuing our heart for relationship with him, second half is pursuing his heart in return. If you want to know how he feels about us seeking him diligently in return you should ask him sometime. ;) be prepared to tear up, it's overwhelmingly beautiful.

Of course music is an interpretive experience but I do believe we as the church need to go into a trance. We have been living too much in the natural realm wondering why its so miserable when there is an invitation into the spiritual realm where He is our Peace and Joy. Truly our feet on the ground with our hearts in heaven makes for change in and around us.
Of course God does not hide. It's my opinion that this is a "prophetic" song (speaks God's truth to us), so she is singing Jesus' words most of the time. This is a similar concept to the song "Come to Me" that Jenn Johnson also sings. There may be some back-and-forth in whose words are being sung, but regardless, we are the ones that hide, and He is chasing us.

I don't know why I felt so compelled to write a comment today, I had to create an account, but I felt like God wanted me to tell you to keep doing what you are doing. It is such a blessing to this world. So many things in my life are difficult but your songs continuously pull me closer to him, its kind of like gravity, they highlight the desire within humanity for something more, and that something is him. I don't know if you will ever read this, but thank you for following him and being obediant to his will, you will never know how many people's hearts you have touched by following him.
