Everyone knows how talented Rickman was, but the fact that nobody has a bad word to say about him is a TRUE legacy. That is what we should all strive for in this world. I do love his tight jaw, and the way he uses it. It feels like that stoic British reserve, but 100x more. It seems like he's constantly struggling to hold back an emotion, whether it be white hot rage, pain and longing, or even suppressing a smirk. You can tell that something is just bursting to come out, but the character is afraid to let it loose, in case he loses control. It adds so much depth to his characters. He took what God had given him, and used it like a boss!

What an incredible man! What an amazing life!! Yet, I still discovered so much during this documentary that I never knew beforehand. I was aware of the extreme diversity of the characters he played and his immense talent, but there was so much more to this man's life that will always leave me in awe. One of the most underrated performers of this era, yet one that I will never forget and be ever so grateful for being a witness to a career of such magnitude. I admired him for staying true to himself and for being the best that he could be. Those who are blessed with real talent, do not need to search for fame nor notoriety and are satisfied with completing the projects involved with, one by one. Alan didn't seek fame or a lavish lifestyle of riches, but was content with all that he had. It will always be those that we have relied upon to be there, that will be sadly missed now that they've gone. I tip my hat to you, dear Colonel Brandon, a true gentleman and a performer that will be forever greatly missed, but never forgotten.🇦🇺💖🕊
I admired how Versatile he was in his roles and not typecast but played many roles and he spoke very clearly. It was sad to hear he is gone now. I wonder if he ever played Shakespeare. He would have been terrific in the roles of his plays. Good guy or bad guy. I liked him best in Galaxy Quest. Hope you get to see it! Funny and clever playing an actor playing a real alien on a real space ship. The best always! I do miss him.
@@marvahuff635 Early on in his career he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, left and returned again later on. Alan was so talented he could take on any role and make it believable. Unfortunately, Galaxy Quest was one that escaped me but I'll definitely be keeping my eye out now. I'm always looking up actors when watching a movie and when watching Sense and Sensibility, I was shocked to think that the loveable Colonel Brandon was the comedic Sheriff of Nottingham and the 'bad guy' from Die Hard. He could play any role, but do it so very well.💖
"When I'm 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I'll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, 'After all this time?' And I will say, 'Always'." - a fifteen year old girl on Tumblr. Alan Rickman never said this.
Amazing actor! Phenomenal voice! ❤ Was he knighted? He should’ve been if not. Pancreatic cancer is horrific! So sad he had to endure that. 😢 I’ll forever remember him as Severus Snape and the Sheriff of Nottingham. His ability to play essentially a bad guy, but with the humour and character depths that evoked sympathy from the audience was truly breathtaking to watch. He is dearly missed. ❤❤❤
I'm not a good critic, but he was dazzling as the Sheriff. Scenery chewing so extreme as to be good. The scene in which he tries to rape Marian is somehow awful but not scary.
@@waterdragon2224 He was not a fan of the royalist system, to say the least. I think he was definitely offered it and even more definitely, he declined. Just one more reason to love him.
Rickman was the best new villain since Jaws in the Bond movie. So calm , smart , confident and in control. And it took us All those Potter movies to love that character as much as Harry. Non book readers had no idea what was coming.
I always knew his character had more depth than initially indicated. My favorite of his HP scenes is when he emerged from a wardrobe closet dressed as Longbottom's fearsome grandmother. He pulled it off with absolute perfection.
I met him in my hometown of St Andrews Scotland when he was there doing a play at the Byre Theatre. Not only was he a wonderfully kind and gracious man, but he was also REALLY TALL!!!
For me, his portrayal in Truly, Madly, Deeply will be what I remember him for most. My late husband and I adored that film, in fact he introduced it to me as “something I had to experience”. I look back now, and feel glad that in many ways it was Alan Rickman who prepared me for my life without my beloved husband.
I have adored this man since i first saw him in a BBC adaptation of the Barchester Chronicles and followed his work. When Truly Madly Deeply came out i adored it and who knew it would help me last October when my husband also called Alan died. His voice, wow! Galaxy Quest is another fave of mine as is An awfully big adventure, the list is endless. RIP Mr Rickman, your so missed.
I first remember him as the villain in Quigley Down Under and thinking: why do I like him so much? Another memory was his role in Sense and Sensibility as the ultimate decent man. So many other favorites. Thank you for this biography.
Sure, everyone says Snape was Rickman's defining character, but for me, Colonel Brandon in Sense and Sensibility was quintessential Rickman. "Give me an occupation, Miss Dashwood or I shall run mad" is one of the greatest lines in cinema. He conveys desperate love and fear of loss so beautifully. My heart is still broken that he is gone. p.s. Yates was the worst thing to happen to HP
I'm going to miss his acting. I can only imagine him being part of a family and how they feel. Just a huge hollow hurt that is full of love of someone who once was.
For me Rickman's brilliance is he was one of the few actors that was capable of being a Villain who creates empathy the "Always" line in the Harry Potter film is utterly heartbreaking and that's delivered by a guy who for five books and films has done nothing to create any feeling of goodwill
Loved him in Robin Hood, "and call off Christmas!" was hilarious. He was a very versatile actor & I loved him in all I've seen. It's Harry Potter that cinched my love for this actor, no one could have guessed he was sick. His love of Lilly resulting in the one word line "always" sums up my being a fan of all he left us to remember him by.
The most fun: Robin Hood. The most pathos: Harry Potter. The one that made me say 'wow'... The Song of Lunch. But I'll watch anything he's in because I know I'll enjoy it.
He is sorely missed! He was amazing in everything he was in. My favourite will always be Snape and Colonel Brandon. He totally embodied those roles and stole my heart 💖
Like others, I saw him in Truly, Madly, Deeply and sat up and said "WHO IS THAT???". I was hooked from then on. Like most great actors, he had a unique something that stood out. But he had a bout a dozen unique things. I'll miss him more than I already do.
Alan was fabulous! One of my favorite actors! When I heard he died, I was so upset and sad for his family because he was such a precious person, you could tell on screen he was! Great actor, always hugely perfect in each of his roles! I adored him in "Sense & Sensibility", but I admired him in all his roles. I loved his voice, so original! I could hear his voice and know it was him, a distinctive character of a man! I miss him still... Love to his family, what a man!
'Truly, Madly, Deeply' was the first movie I saw with Rickman. I was hooked. From there, mine was such appreciation for the KALEIDOSCOPE of his many acting roles. Ahh, we miss ya, sweet lad. Ya dun good. Respect.
The world became a much sadder place when he died, his brilliant wonderful talent, his beautiful voice was extinguished forever. His ability to be what ever he wanted to be a Robin Hood, or a Snape. Elliot Marston. His magic was forever put down..
Voice, yes, but also his mastery of motion (watch his hands, every way he moves, large or small) and expression. He was every person he portrayed, not someone ACTING like that person. Non pareil as an actor and person. RIP. He will not be forgotten. 🥀 💐
Alan Rickman was a fantastic actor no matter what role he took on. I think he was also a really good man. He was respected because he gave respect to others. That is a rare thing. Rest in peace, Mr. Rickman.
What a wonderfully versatile actor, great characters he played to perfection. His part in the film Quigley Down Under was made for him, fabulous performance, and now so missed by so very many. RIP Alan, you encouraged so many with your characters you played, bringing out the best in others.
Alan Rickman has always been one of my top 3 favorite 'villians'. I love him ! He does it so well, even in comedies. If a movie included Alan Rickman, it could be guaranteed that I would watch it. His passing was heartbreaking, just knowing we would never be blessed with his presence on the screen again.
Rickman added a necessary sinister class to the movie. It brought the movie up a level and the combination of Rickman with Willis was magnetic. You could not take your eyes off of either.
The end made me cry. He was so fabulous. Won’t ever be anyone like him. Die Hard was the first movie I saw him in. I watch it EVERY Christmas lol. He will always be Snape to me
I was never a big Harry Potter fan, but had a girlfriend who wanted me to see the movies with her. Rickman as Snape was my favorite characters, and his turn from a villain to a hero was great!
Thank you for the video, many facts I haven’t known about this great and talented actor. Was pleased to hear once again how kind-hearded and generous this man was. He could express his emotions in the slightest changing of his look, raised eyebrow, curled lips - and, of course, soft, deep, charming voice. I was astonished at how much inside the role he was when he told the costume of Snape should have sleeve that half-covered his palm. Still miss you after all these years.
He was hardly a villain in Snow Cake, the film written for him. One of my favorites. Another under the radar film mentioned was Close My Eyes (1991), where he was the third leg in a story of a couple who happened to be siblings. It stars Clive Owen and the underrated Saskia Reeves. Alan portrayed anything but a bad guy.
Snow Cake is also one of my favourites. I love Blow Dry as well. Maybe he was a villain in Hollywood but I think he was better with playing sad characters.
He was wonderful at playing villains but actually his few heroic roles are much more underrated. I have to admit, I had a major crush on him. Was devastated at his passing.
Sitting here wondering why I am bawling my eyes out...... but then I remember, because it's Alan Rickman. What a genuine loss to this world. His absence is greatly felt.

When he was filming The Bodyguard he visited the local elementary school and talked to the kids there. He also sat in on a rehearsal at my college drama department. We didn't know he was there until it was over. He told us to go for our dream and never let anyone stop us if we truly wanted it.
Given his history and collaboration with Lawrence Kasdan I find it hard to believe that Kevin Costner would do such a thing.
Soooo well put 🙌💔
@@Glm867 Thank you Gina.💖💐
He could play any role, but do it so very well.💖
Alan Rickman was a brilliant actor and he proved this in every film he did !
The world will miss him!❤❤❤
The Sheriff of Nottingham OMG🤣 Just brilliant 🙃
And had me laughing. I loved his sheriff. I'd love to know how he and Costner got on. Guess I'll buy his diaries.
"When I'm 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I'll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, 'After all this time?' And I will say, 'Always'." - a fifteen year old girl on Tumblr. Alan Rickman never said this.
Came here to say this 😂
Omg 😂 it's like the fake Keanu quotes people believe and use everywhere
This is a false statement. He never stated this.
Exactly. I was about to watch this. I'm glad they put this right at the beginning so I won't waste my time.
@DrEvil818 I am aware. If you reread my comment, I put " - a fifteen year old girl on Tumblr. Alan Rickman never said this."
Amazing actor! Phenomenal voice! ❤ Was he knighted? He should’ve been if not.
Pancreatic cancer is horrific! So sad he had to endure that. 😢
I’ll forever remember him as Severus Snape and the Sheriff of Nottingham.
He wouldn't have accepted a Knighthood, and I don't blame him.
@@OdeInWessex you know he wouldn’t? How’s that?
@@waterdragon2224 He was not a fan of the royalist system, to say the least. I think he was definitely offered it and even more definitely, he declined. Just one more reason to love him.
@@girlwhomustnotbenamed4139 interesting. Thank you for the information. I didn’t know that about him. My father felt the same way.
Alan was a very unique man, the world is a much sadder place without him.
Can we meet for a round of Golf? I'll bring my Mashie Kniblet and Brassie!
Alotta tall people there . Members of Led Zeppelin are over 6 feet tall .
I fell in love with Rickman from the first moment I saw him. Quite certain I'm not alone. 😎
I just loved Allen Rickman R.I.P. ❤️
I miss Alan Rickman, he was one of the best actors this country has produced, that remarkable voice
Absolutely wonderful. The world hasn't been the same without Alan Rickman in it. Miss him dearly.
I love all his film roles. No one has mentioned, "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy", in which he played a depressed robot. 🥰😍😘
Alan Rickman as Marvin made that movie worth watching.
Broke my heart when he passed 🥺💔
A man that I just loved. Broke my heart when he passed. Love you Alan. Always
Not only the perfect villain but also the perfect lover. I had a crush on him after watching Sense and Sensibility. He was perfect in that rol.
Same ❤
Ditto😄
He could play just about anything.
That is my favorite. To lose David Bowie and Alan Rickman in 1 week....no words.
that is a beautiful memory
@@emq6892 Thank you, it truly is
@@anitadavidson1266 thanks for the Reminder. I truly mourned in that film
@@theresachung703 I think many many people sobbed their way through that film. It remains beautiful though.
I am so glad Rickman stayed with the HP movies. He played Snape so well, no one could have filled his shoes.
He had that quality about him ..... even when playing a ruthless villain you couldn't help but be attracted to him. And he did it so effortlessly!
I teared up just as I did when I learned of his passing. What a wonderful man & actor! This was well done, thank you!
I surely miss seeing Alan Rickman and all he brought to the screen.
We're lucky we have his films...
Me tooo 😢
I was deeply saddened by his passing. He was unique will always be one of my favorites.
There will never be another like him, what an inspiring man and a tragic loss. He will be remembered......Always
Alan Rickman was one of the finest actors of his era, and did it in such away that endeared him to the audience.
One of the world's best actors.
Alan Rickman could and would have been an awesome audiobook author along with Morgan Freeman. So much potential we never got to see or hear.
Beautifully crafted! Thank you so very much! I'm taking a moment to wipe my tears and blow my nose now....I miss him
He was extremely talented. Could completely envelope a character. I loved what he did in ,"Galaxy Quest". Absolutely brilliant.
HIs portrayal of letting love go in 'Truly madly deeply' was so touching.
Like others, I saw him in Truly, Madly, Deeply and sat up and said "WHO IS THAT???". I was hooked from then on. Like most great actors, he had a unique something that stood out. But he had a bout a dozen unique things. I'll miss him more than I already do.
I love all his movies. What an incredible man and actor! And that voice! Love it.
He was one of a kind. Excellent and elegant and rather cheeky. And I LOVED A Little Chaos. Thanks for this video.
Between he and David Bowie leaving, it was a tough time.
Diehard is our family’s favorite Christmas movie! We watch it every Christmas!!!
This is so well done. My favorite role was the voice of the depressed robot in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It showed his range and humor.
A wonderful tribute to an incredible man, and a fabulously talented actor.
One of my favorite actors ever. RIP Alan.
'Truly, Madly, Deeply' was the first movie I saw with Rickman. I was hooked. From there, mine was such appreciation for the KALEIDOSCOPE of his many acting roles. Ahh, we miss ya, sweet lad. Ya dun good. Respect.
He was one of my favorite actors, always the best in every part. Loved him long before Harry Potter, such a great actor…gone too soon.
Probably my favorite performance from Rickman. I love his comedic timing.
I loved this man as an actor a speaker, writer and a lovely person..his voice was amazing..so missed..
The world became a much sadder place when he died, his brilliant wonderful talent, his beautiful voice was extinguished forever. His ability to be what ever he wanted to be a Robin Hood, or a Snape. Elliot Marston. His magic was forever put down..
I always thought he stole whatever scene he was in. And what a unique voice. He is missed.
Voice, yes, but also his mastery of motion (watch his hands, every way he moves, large or small) and expression. He was every person he portrayed, not someone ACTING like that person. Non pareil as an actor and person. RIP. He will not be forgotten. 🥀 💐
I still Break Down every time I hear his “Always”! RIP!
Alan Rickman was a fantastic actor no matter what role he took on. I think he was also a really good man. He was respected because he gave respect to others. That is a rare thing. Rest in peace, Mr. Rickman.
He can execute every single thought of the character and emotion in his expressions. Just subtle details they are and its amazing. He will be missed
What a wonderfully versatile actor, great characters he played to perfection. His part in the film Quigley Down Under was made for him, fabulous performance, and now so missed by so very many.
RIP Alan, you encouraged so many with your characters you played, bringing out the best in others.
There was depth, substance and meaning about this man. God Bless him.
I love the sound of his VOICE! Such delicious resonance! He Created an Iconic Character SO True to the Book.!.
He was just wonderful. I enjoy his movies. He is missed.
Rickman added a necessary sinister class to the movie. It brought the movie up a level and the combination of Rickman with Willis was magnetic. You could not take your eyes off of either.
I MISS ALAN SO MUCH
The end made me cry.
This made me cry. I realize that there are some movies I haven't seen that he is in. He was amazing!! Thank you for his biography.
He is and will always be my most admired actor. Good journey Sir
Me tooo 👍
Thanks for that tip. I didn’t know this one.
Snow Cake is also one of my favourites. I love Blow Dry as well. Maybe he was a villain in Hollywood but I think he was better with playing sad characters.
Snow Cake was one of my favorites! He was also able to handle comedy (Galaxy Quest)😅
Truly an Iconic human being. He will be missed always. God Bless Alan Rickman
He was wonderful at playing villains but actually his few heroic roles are much more underrated. I have to admit, I had a major crush on him. Was devastated at his passing.
I had a crush on him as well
Everything I learn about him makes me even sadder for his passing. He was (and hope still is) as wonderful as ever.
A wonderful, apparently truthful review of this wonderful man’ work and life..thank you...
Sitting here wondering why I am bawling my eyes out...... but then I remember, because it's Alan Rickman. What a genuine loss to this world. His absence is greatly felt.
Same
He was the best part of mediocre robinhood
I love him in that he played it so over the top.
He stole that film for me. Costner was hopelessly miscast and didn't even have the common decency to attempt a British accent.
@@OdeInWessex as opposed to Cary Elwes in Men In Tights "I, have an English accent" 😂
