Oh No I agree with most of what you said, but there is a danger to the portrayal of unhealthy relationship in media. That is glorifying it, to especially young people. And especially people who come from unhealthy homes or backgrounds that don’t have the healthy non abusive example in their lives to take example from. Books like Twilight and 50shades of grey being examples from main stream media that skewed some people’s view of what is healthy and good for your mental health. And I can attest that some of the people I know in real life feel drawn to those type of books/movies/fanfics for the simple reason that they see it as their normal / what is expected of a good relationship. Because they didn’t have a healthy childhood 😞. I myself had some disturbing taste in this stuff before going to therapy and now I can’t read the same books/fanfics as I did before... now normal and healthy relationships don’t seem boring to me anymore. Oh No I agree with most of what you said, but there is a danger to the portrayal of unhealthy relationship in media. That is glorifying it, to especially young people. Books like Twilight and 50shades of grey being examples from main stream media that skewed some people’s view of what is healthy and good for your mental health.
And I can attest that some of the people I know in real life feel drawn to those type of books/movies/fanfics for the simple reason that they see it as their normal / what is expected of a good relationship. Because they didn’t have a healthy childhood 😞.
I myself had some disturbing taste in this stuff before going to therapy and now I can’t read the same books/fanfics as I did before... now normal and healthy relationships don’t seem boring to me anymore. The arguing seems horrid and repulsive 🤷♀️. Just my thoughts.
