- Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner says she is considering entering US politics in a bid to promote transgender issues. She told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme she had been "really upset" by some of President Donald Trump's policies on the LGBT community. The ex-Olympic athlete, who changed her name and transitioned to living as a woman aged 65, said Mr Trump was being "influenced by people around him". Jenner said her life was "much simpler" now she was living openly as a woman. Over the past two years, Jenner has become the most famous transgender person in the world.

Also please note that it's pretty hard to come out especially when you're in the spotlight and you have all these extra people to judge you. She didn't wake up one morning and say "Hey! I'm gonna be a woman!" it took years of figuring herself out :)

Yes. Having mental problems is difficult. It can be very isolating. When you have mental problems it’s not easy.
I certainly can't identify with this, but it seems to me if you have a mental illness, dealing with it by a good therapist, intense research , and unceasing prayer and time spent with God would be far more helpful than trying to explain it away

Genuine question and I'd love to hear from members of the trans community or anyone in general who has this experience or is living with it etc. When a man says "I feel like a woman", or a woman says, "I feel like a man", or words to that effect, what does that even mean? If one is born one gender and lives life as said gender, how could they possibly know what it feels like or means to be the opposite gender? Does that make sense? I'd like to understand.
I'm not trans but I think I can explain it decently.
When people say they feel they're a certain gender or that they identify as it, it means that when they think of who they are, they think of themself as said gender. It also means that certain pronouns will feel wrong and some will feel right. Those same feelings apply to clothes, body, voice... etc. It's hard to explain that general feeling of wrongness but I hope you'll understand what I'm saying.
People who aren't trans don't realise that they too would feel these feelings if they were in a body of a different sex. The reason you don't notice it is because, without that difference between who you are and how you're viewed, feeling as your gender won't be something you need to pay attention to. That contrast is what makes someone trans.
It's not easy for everyone to fully understand, and that's fine. Nevertheless, I hope my explanation helps. I'm not an expert so please listen to trans people over me.

people are born as a sex. gender is what you identify as. when someone feels like another gender, they tend to experience gender dysphoria which consists of feeling uncomfortable with their body (eg: people assigned female at birth my feel discomfort with their chest and bind their chest to make it look flatter) and social dysphoria which is discomfort with people using the wrong pronouns or wrong name. if this isn't treated with therapy and transitioning (whether that's just hormone therapy or a sugary or maybe just socially transitioning- everyone has different needs) it can lead to low self esteem and mental illness

I grew up in a family packed with females and absent males. I grew up playing with my older girl cousins and had a toy cooker and taken to pick a toy, chose a toy iron. In the 60s and 70s if a boy preferred painting to sports he was deemed a bit effete. As a child the constant refrain was "ah! Look at his curly hair! He should have been a girl" and have constantly been what is today called 'misgendered' all my life, even now.
I always knew what and who I am - despite my challenging traditional gender roles. At 17 a psychiatrist suggested a sex change. Later on another said "you'll have to learn how to walk in high heels".

The main thing you realize when you read the comment sections to videos like this is that
a) human beings are very judgmental,
b) human beings fear and dislike everything/everyone that they don't understand or that makes them uncomfortable, and
c) human beings do not like when something happens that challenges their view of the world and how things 'should' be.
This applies to 98% of the people commenting on here. From a sociological/psychological perspective it's really interesting -- but it's also kinda sad.

I don't personally understand the whole trans issue but Bruce/Caitlyn explains themself well and the interviewer is excellent. She listens well and doesnt interrupt her guest. I think their gender issues messed up their marriages and they should have sorted this out before bringing kids into the confusion but s/he seems like a nice person.
