I purchased. 470 a year ago, and really didn’t look at it closely until recently. The transformer had come completely unmoored in shipping and bashed its way around a bit. Not too much damage, but some main circuit wires came loose as well. Remounted everything, and it seems to work. They are good units, but a bit fragile. I don’t think they were meant to be shipped like they do, after 30+ years of field service. I need to check those two big caps too….

Ive just bought a 470, like you i had poor packing as well but the unit was untouched nothing bent or broken and nothing fallen off or missing, its actually in mint condition with very little use and works very well, also heater voltage needs to be calibrated under load, when i first bought mine i checked with the mutumeter and looked like it was 1 division out but one hooked up to a tube it was correct.

Curious about how heavy the unit is when shipped? Did they not pack it well enough due to it's weight?

When you set the cutoff by 1 division are you sure you move it to .1 in the scale and not the middle point that is 1.0?
