Zane Smith career stage points: 0
Zane Smith career P2 finishes: 1
The only stage points that Zane Smith got was in Blue green Vacation Duels in February and it was 5 points you get Stage Points in the Qualifying Races for finishing in the top 10
Lol
Where did he come from?
Go make a sandwich 🥪. He had a great night
Gimmicks like overtime lend itself to this nonsense.
Don’t let this distract from the fact that we could’ve had a Corey Lajoie Zane Smith or a Ryan Preece win this race
Also Chase Elliott continued his top 20 streak while sliding sideways through the infield grass
@@Jutho3121I didn’t even notice that and as an Elliott fan that was a respectable finish could’ve been worse
Sooo sad that Logano got it. There was space for an incredible underdog
I was rooting for Lajoie. I still think a driver that won’t go deep into the playoffs won.
Yeah except Bowman didn’t give Lajoie a chance at the win
Larson did not misjudge that move, he was trying to ship Hamlin using FedEx.
well he didn't end up shipping hamlin, so he did in fact misjudge the move😂
i don't think taking chastain out was the goal
@@mateojohns05 fact !!
Larson was simply trying to gain clean air, hit the apron and lost traction , sliding up into Ross...
Same thing I believe happen Noah last week.
I’m surprised we didn’t see more drivers this weekend touch the apron there like Larson did.
Looks like it got lost in transit
I did not expect Eric to utter the word "grabass" lmao
it's a front runner thing shhhhhh
Zane Smith who is outside the top 30 in points almost won tonight. Had that happened, it would have been a nuclear bomb on the playoffs standings.
He will be once nascar finds out the 22 car has a cheating fuel system ,that all teams have been doing this for 50 years, BUT IT'S NOT ok in this new car, if Nascar any balls they should find out why the 22 coukd run an extra 20 mikes on fuel over EVERYONE else out there Tonight!!!!
@@Tow_Sr.they passed post race inspection so it doesn’t matter anymore lol
@@Tow_Sr.He just saved more fuel, I'm still in disbelief he saved that much tho
@@jaydensanchez7881 of course its Penske, and Joey is a Champion, so they didn't even look his car over , FOR THE OBVIOUS REASONS, but they just do as they wish from time to time , and Penske they can't make the old Billionaire look bad , so they let it slide. AND IT 1000% SHOULD NOT of made it that far on gas, he was the only 1 out of about 20 cars , 🤷♂️💔🤯🤣😡
@@xrracing219 they said in miles , he was about 10 miles better than every other car out there. THATS NOT POSSIBLE, they have cheating ways to put 300 yards of fuel lines inside the frame rails , or make them 8 foot long and 6 inches around. They've been doing this for 50 years. But they've been caught its easy , bit there not going to do that to Joey, or Shell or Penske, BUT THATS BULLSHIT 💯
Another big controversy was Carson Hocevar spinning Harrison Burton out under yellow - and NASCAR somehow did not penalize him.
I felt like in a way it was a penalty that should have been worth it.
Forgot to mention that. Could see a fine or something this week
Looked like he got pushed from behind, but need to see the replay again
Burton was checking up for the caution like everyone else but not hocevar. I’m already over this punk.
@@EricEsteppyou hate logano still? Got to get over it man go 22!
Gotta highlight Justin “🐐” Haley’s race rq
- served pass through
- pissed denny off
- went two laps down
- un-lapped himself
- crew has to make shock and toe adjustments to the front because the car was plowing tight
- Chris called great strategy to get him track position
- Drove into the top 10 then the cindric caution came
- got wrecked and got damage
- survived the carnage and got a 13th place finish💪💪💪
I’m convinced Haley will be the guy to replace Brad in the 6 one day.
Justin Haley is fords anakin skywalker now 🤣
THANK YOU. Someone had to say it since Eric completely overlooked it. Haley is LITERALLY HIM
To be fair, all you have to do to piss Denny off is be on the track.
Kyle Busch’s last 5 finish are…..
St. Louis - 35th
Sonoma - 12th
Iowa - 35th
New Hampshire- 35th
Nashville - 27th
17th in points. -104 from the playoffs. Win streak on the line. Unbelievable. 😭😭💀💀

Have to agree - especially with Burton shrieking as usual, pit reporter Kim completely unintelligible with her thin voice and LeTarte missing calls
Really is a shame only half the audience from NBC got to see it though.

Out of all Kyle Busch’s recent DNF’s todays was the most devastating. KB drove the wheels off his Chevy from being in the 30s all day to a chance to win late in P4. Regardless of the restart controversy, KB didn’t deserve another bad run. It’s been an horrendous few weeks as a Busch fan.
It's been a horrendous few years. Ever since 2019 it's been tough being a KB fan
@@jacksonsharpe114true honestly. But this year has been brutal. At least in 2021 and the first eighteen races of 23 he was decent. I just want KB to keep the streak alive so bad.
It's crazy how I can hate KB one week and root for him the next. I would've loved to see him grab this one.
not a Busch fan, but nobody deserv to be wrecked by an idiot team that try finish on fumes and wrecks other cars, Larson ruined his own race and Bush race.
I don think I’ve been more devastated by a finish in a while as a KB fan
That's saying something considering the season so far
Yeah, that was tough.
Lot of people will be pissed at Larson. Busch can't seem to buy a piece of good luck right now.
Same 😭
I love it when cry Busch doesn't finish a race he's getting everything he deserves
I had a feeling that once NBC was switching over to USA that shit was about to hit the fan and low and behold, that was exactly the case and then some. Easily the most agonizing race i've ever watched in my near 20 years of watching the sport.
I;d agree with that. Once NBC was switching over to USA we all knew the carnage was going to happen and it did. 5 overtime attempts?
Lost in all the chaos is that the Hamlin-Chastain battle was actually great while it lasted.
And the 1 was making up ground with the 11 saving fuel.
Would’ve made for a good finish, but noooooooooo. I hate overtime.
As a Blaney fan that strategy had NO business working out but it did lmao 😭
If he pit with Lajoie and Smith he would've had a chance at the win...
As a Blaney fan as well it didn't, but we'll take a 6th. Shouldn't have stayed out with more than 40 to go. After Austin's spin, makes me more convinced after his gift win that he will have a quick exit from the round of 16.
Yea somehow he and Larson got Top 8 finishes.
Jonathan Hassler needs to be fired.
All those early cautions when they stayed out was really screwing what they were trying to do
This was the most chaotic race of the year, second to Bristol. After Atlanta, Kansas, and Gateway (sonoma too) I didn’t expect another wild final few laps/finish. 2024 has been one of those years
from a lap down to a top 5 resurgence race and back to a OT wreck…
yep… this MIGHT just be keith rodden’s defining legacy for kyle busch 🙏😭
Glad denny pitted 😂didn't win hahahahah

Would you rather have a chaotic race or a boring race? Either way people will complain.
That’s the truth. I like chaotic races myself, but I knew Eric wouldn’t.
@@orendz7740 lol everyone did sorry well maybe not everyone hug a toyota drive and feel better it's about feelings rt
Eric hates Logano. So glad he won for this video.😂
A little bit of both is also fine. And there's a large middle ground of exciting racing that isn't chaotic and also isn't boring
I’d rather have a race without a gimmick
My boy Chase showing the grass it can’t take away his top 20 streak by mowing it on the last lap
4 overtimes has happened twice before, 2004 and 2018 (lmk if I'm forgetting any). 5 has never.
Can we also appreciate the fact that despite making it to the first overtime, Chastain crashed out and ended the race 27 laps down? That's absolutely insane lol.
04 trucks gateway, 18 xfinity daytona, 23 trucks phoenix. last 2 had 5 ots.
@Nemofishman True, the trucks race had 4! And I did not realize the xfinity race actually had 5, that was weird. This is the first cup race to have more than 3, surprisingly!
2021 Knoxville truck race had 4.
The greatest driver in NASCAR lost control of his car and wrecked Chastain.
Never seen Eric this blunt in a race review, and I like it. Finally picking a side and being honest.
He hates logano. Race was actually very exciting imo.
He was way too negative tonight. That race was decent for sure
People complain when he praises and people complain when he criticizes races. Honestly I can see both sides
@@NASCARDAWGYT I can understand him being mad and upset at several other races this year but this race was fine. Honestly it was him like super upset about like every driver because they got a finish they didn't deserve. Who cares, idk just thought that was really strange
@@doylebbq4329 honestly if the race ended with Hamlin winning, we would be talking I think about a better race imo. 5 overtimes just made it drag out so long, but I will say that I did enjoy most of this race.

But whenever he is and is clearly gonna get a good finish he gets fucked over by something he can't control.
LOGANO WON LETS GOOOOOOOOO
I probably lost 15 years of my life during overtime lmao
luv it luv it
I’d rather have a chaotic race like this instead of a boring one
Agreed, my disappointment swelled the deeper into the last 70 lap run and the more Denny pulled away.
Absolutely. With every lap that went by that nobody spun out, my disappointment was sinking in further and further, and I knew that Denny Hamlin was going to pull away with it. Until 2 to go when Austin Cindric spun out, bringing out the caution, and somehow, Joey Logano wound up winning. I will take him winning over Denny Hamlin winning on any Sunday between February and November.
@@judewhite4401 Logano earned the win, he didn't wreck or run out of fuel, he earned it. I never saw so many crybaby drivers after the race.
100%!!! Nascar fans are weird bro. This was exciting as hell. Fans cry over a boring race, we get a chaotic exciting race and they still cry!!!! No pleasing them
Boring then a wreck fest
NASCAR just needs to incorporate both a demolition derby and figure-8 races into the season.
Take Tony Stewart’s suggestion, Half the field go one way, half the field go the other way.
And a survival race with half the cars going backwards

I feel the same as a kb fan
Make the switch.
My emotions roller coaster was crazy yesterday
Kyle Busch struggles are the best thing about the sport this year. Now you know what the last few years of being a Johnson fan was like
I tuned in just before the Elliott spin, I had no idea there was a normal race before then, everything was insane afterwards
As a Chastain fan, I just wanted to end the suffering after the first overtime 😢
I’m right there with you. I just wish the caution never came out with Cindric spinning. Went to the Texas race and was pumped for a top 5 for Ross until a Hendrick car got into the back of him and wrecked him. Larson drove Ross up the track at Kansas in 3-4 on one of the last runs that put Ross back in the 20’s while Larson took advantage and ended up winning the race. Larson wrecked him tonight, and caused Busch to get wrecked by Elliott by running out of gas and not getting out of the way.
When the race doesn’t go into a crap show like it did at the end of this race, I believe Ross has the 3rd to 5th best Chevy in the field. You can tell he outdrives his equipment because he runs with the Hendrick guys and out performs the other Chevy teams during the race, even if the ending screws him. I think if he was in an actual Hendrick Chevy, not a Chevy with ECR engines, he’d have a win or two this year. He’s a top 5-8 driver and has potential to win a championship or two.

@@lbf5984I was more confused why Elliot got position back as he was the wreck.
How about another great run for Justin Haley. The pass through penalty, was 2 laps down, was caught up in one of the overtime wrecks and still finished 13th! And would have finished 10th if it would have finished without the overtime chaos! Under the radar has impressed me more than anyone this year in what was always a 35th place car before this year!

Kyle Busch crashing, gaining his spot back, just to crash again is the most Kyle Busch thing to happen.
Man kyle busch was going to end his day with a top 5 before the overtime sucks during the overtime he crashed out the race, man. I feel a win come for kyle busch I'm not giving up ‼️
To the end of the line
Same for Truex, he will get that win in his last season.
The fastest cars ran out of gas.
They wrecked themselves and others, over drove their car's ability to stay on the track. If they weren't so greedy they would have put an extra second or two of fuel like Logano's team did on the last two pit stops. Bad strategy. You need more than speed to win in NASCAR or any racing, especially on the last laps.
I will contend that, if a lot of the teams weren't gambling on a fuel mileage race when Cindric spun out we would not have had five overtimes; most of the wrecks came from people running out of gas and causing stack ups and other issues.
Me and my mom (who has no interest in the sport other than me loving it) were cracking up at everybody running out of fuel and Denny and Kyle Larson going at it, and as a 45 fan that ending will sting for a little bit ngl
Shout out to Corey Heim who had a top 15 car until he got involved in a backstretch wreck
Forgot to mention Hocevar hooking Burton under caution. Dude seriously needs to face the consequences.
Hocevar will be the next villain once Hamlin retires and I am all for it
This race SHOULDVE been kept a night race!!
It was a good race. The people that ran out of gas chose to do so
rt !!!!!!!! just saying
The end was awesome. Strategic and chaotic together. You don't have to 'learn something' from every race. Being in the right place at the right time is not just luck. Not knowing if the leader has enough gas coming off turn 4 with other cars around him makes for some exciting drama.
That's a fair take. It felt like the final 80 laps were setting up for that exciting Ross/Denny battle, and the record-setting number of OTs made that battle irrelevant. That's the main part I found frustrating.
the race was very boring until the overtime, if u could bare over 3 hours of nothing.. i guess u got some action but it was pure fluke not by design, teams gambled on fuel caused the mayhem. overall id give it a C+ without the OTs it would be an F.
Seen some automatically assume Logano’s team cheated. Not like the team filling the tank as full as they possibly could or Logano saving fuel better than others could be a possibility.
I saw a tweet like an hour ago saying all post race inspection was finished with nothing coming from it and no cars or parts being sent to R&D so he just saved better than everyone else
that rt there is funny chit
@@Alex_w3ps HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You are right, when other teams were taking quick refills for track position, the 22 took an extra second's worth on the last two pit stops, knowing the leaders wouldn't have enough fuel. Just smart strategy. That's why they are two-time Champions.

Should mention that Joey went the longest on fuel, meaning it came down to his skill at saving fuel throughout all the runs.
they (car 22)didnt have the speed alone to win, it just fell the right way for them, honestly they would have made the playoffs anyway, this dont really change the playoff picture at all, the cars in nee dof the win failed to win , Bubba, Buesher and others.

The eruption of cheers when Denny finally gave up the lead late was hilarious 😂. Never been my favorite driver, but moments like this really make me want to see him FINALLY win the championship and quiet the haters.
If my memory is correct, the truck's finale race last year had like 5 overtime attempts. I just don't think the cup series has ever had that many before, (maybe the 2020 clash, but I don't know about that one either).
The end of this race was more of a disaster than the presidential debate.
Wow
As a german fan that was relatively tired, I set an alarm to be awaken roughly towards the end of the race. Wake up 20 to go, Denny my favourite driver about to lead. Fantastic! Smokey Yunick is looking down smiling, knowing that Joey has that extra fuel line rolled up under his seat.
Yates horsepower. Massive power/low fuel consumption
@@MrTonaluvagreed. It's been common for the Penske teams to consistently gamble with fuel mileage, they know they have an advantage there I think. Sure blaney ran out of fuel at gateway but it shows they are always willing to push the fuel mileage to it's limit.
Kyle Busch getting his position back when caution came out was little weird
I kinda wish Zane Smith won this race, not because I think he deserves to win but because that would be one of the biggest eye sores for this current playoff system.
A guy who has zero business being in the playoffs ends up taking one of the 16 seats, that's not only funny but I think may have NASCAR think just a bit more about changing the format to be ... you know ... not a joke.
Saurez and Cindric would both not be close to pointing in at this time, there are always drivers that win a plate/road race that don't belong and usually get eliminated in the first round.
i agree, i dnt give a rats ass about the big teams like Pensky and Hendrick, u know they will all get wins theyv'e dominated Naascar forever, its more interesting if a smaller team & driver can win
This being the NASCAR Cup Series, 5 overtime finishes is an embarrassment. These are supposed to be elite drivers and teams, but it looked like a bunch of rookies
The race may have been nonsense, but the Groovy Gauge for the review is a 95 for me.
people seem to forget that out of 4+ hours only the last 30 mins at most had any action, and only cause teams where gamling on fuel, pure coincidence caused the OTs nothing else.
Last year was the first Nashville race I missed. Chastain won. This year, Chastain crashes. I think I’m cursed to never see my driver win a race live.
Hey it was good to meet you on the midway Sunday. My son couldn't stop talking about it all the way up to the start of the race. Thanks for taking a couple of minutes out of your schedule to talk to a little fan and make his day!

Wolfe had Logano saving fuel until others started running out. Genius move considering the situation.
Penske probably has some of the best crew chiefs, engineers, equipment, and drivers. People are shocked that they've won the last two championships, in my mind.. they are the team to beat. I think they have something in their playbook for the playoffs and they literally don't use it until it's absolutely necessary in the playoffs, that way it's harder to see, harder to find, and it stays more clandestine.
First half of the race: Clean! Final 31 lap: C H A O S!! 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚑🚑🚑
I have watched Denny do that same move to many drivers and you call it aggressive racing because it's so hard to pass. Denny can't stand when he is raced the way he races others

I think the best way to describe this race is a normal race gone to hell. Yeah obviously overtimes cause drivers to do crazy things, but that compounded with the driver’s desire to end this race before they ran out of fuel. Everyone just lost their mind at the end. The racing itself before way honestly pretty good, but the finish just felt so off the rocker. Congrats to Logano I guess, but man o man was this win not based on speed.
if it's only based on speed lets just call the fastes on speed the first 10 laps the winner
Logano just saved fuel better, than anyone else exciting racing (sarcasm) he benefited from alot of better cars wrecking, getting wrecked or simply running out of fuel. overall this season hes been at best averga in race pace, not close to the top cars like the 5 or 20, or 11.
Okay look you can say “Logano had it fall to him” no he stayed clean despite being nearly wrecked twice. He had one of the best long run cars too. Heck after lap 188 he never ran outside the top 20. Sure he wasn’t the fastest but his car was fast enough to get the job done.

Often times, it's better to be lucky than good. Paul Wolfe does deserve a lot of credit for putting his driver in a spot to take advantage of that luck. Overall, it was a fun race to watch, at least the last 3rd of it. Your analysis is pretty accurate, I disagree with your groovy gauge rating.

That was exactly what NASCAR wants in a race... Chaos, carnage and lots overtime. That's what NASCAR thinks the fans want to see every race. Compelling headlines and every driver with a shot at the win, and all but one pissed off they didn't. I think NASCAR wants 16, 18, 26 race winners in the "regular season"... I think they've had 15 winners in the regular season. IDK, it was a crazy race, totally a race of luck, not skill... NASCAR Racing Entertainment, baby, YEAH!!!
It's time to get rid of GWC finishes and just end the races under caution.

I like having OT attempts. Maybe they should go back to 3 max? Or maybe nothing needs to change. 5 OTs is extremely rare.
The next 2 episodes of Myth Busters should be:

Boo to the open. This race was determined with a combination of strategy, aggression, driver, mistakes, racing, variance, and great drivers. This was a raise to behold.

When Larson wrecks someone up front out: “it was an unfortunate mistake”. When it’s Ross, “Well Ross pulled a Ross and was way too aggressive and it needs to change”.
That's exactly what Eric does every week. He slanders the hell out of Ross and praises everything that Larson or Hendrick cars do. LOL
