A lot of people struggle with critical parents, and Mayo Mom is a microcosm of larger societal issues. A lot of us dealt with parents who were never satisfied with anything we did, and seemed determined to tear us down. It kills your self-worth over time. Especially if you are in the "scapegoat" role of the family. I'd recommend Jerry Wise, Patrick Teahan, or Jay Reid's channel for anyone who wants to process that or learn more.
do you have any female youtubers you can recommend? i feel like the experience is different (like i mentioned in the video) with sons with critical parents vs daughters with critical parents.
Hi Grace💖 I am new to your channel. I look for hidden gems . Love your down to earth style. As a parent she doesn’t understand that kind words would be so much more constructive and motherly💕. Her food looks wonderful. I love silly stuff like this👍🏾.☮️💟🖖CC
I am so sorry Lilly💖.On one of your episodes I thought you said your name was Grace. I was thinking 🤔 well that’s different because Lilly is the name of your channel? My mistake thanks for correcting me. Lilly is a very magnificent name. I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada 🍁. I am 61 yrs old and you are welcome to call me Cath. Great vibes Lilly☮️💟🖖CC
This was a GREAT topic to launch ur Podcast with… Thee Controversy is Insane! Mayo Mom ain’t shxt for Hating like she does Good Luck to You & the Future of ur Channel! 😎
She experiences the food being cooked and put before her as a DIG and can't experience it any other way. She experiences the plate being put down as a criticism and feels hurt and reactionary "criticizes back". She gets diarrhea from spices and can never speak of it. If pressed she will explode into a nobody appreciates me rage and tears.
Yea i had an overly critical mother but at least she was honest when i did well and genuinely wanted me succeed. I got it WAY more than my siblings, adopted over 10 years apart. My sister almost died at 1 and 16 so she was always perfect. Despite being the size of a house. She was well over 300/350lbs. And I've been 100lbs through 2 children and 15 years in a wheelchair and yet if my weight goes up a few lbs she calls it out IMMEDIATELY. But if my sister gains weight we all have to pretend to not notice. And ny mother never says a word. It pisses me off but it's because she sees me as more capable than my sister so it's more disappointing to my parents when i fail. I grew up performing and my mother was never pushy, i had to find all the opportunities and she would just come see the performances on opening night and closing night. She's brutally honest about costumes and things. My mother wasn't malicious though. She had a fair point. Like why sre 10/11 year old girls performing for an hour plus in bikinis with plastic leaves covering them, i think it was inspired by the destiny's child survivor music video. It WAS gross. And the tighter skimpier outfits you're forced to wear from 10 onwards she HATED. Know i obviously understand that more. ☠️🤦♀️🤷♀️ But i couldn't imagine my mother being so spiteful and cold hearted like this for no reason. When i started cooking it WAS awful but my mother would always try to find SOMETHING positive to encourage me with. She would never tear everything apart like her. I feel so bad for the daughter. And the husband. Poor guy looks like he's just holding on till the kids grow up and move out/get set up in life. Hopefully he's not one of the it's cheaper to keep guys. He deserves to be happy and loved. Him and his daughter seem very sweet. I hope they cut that crazy cancer out of their lives. They'd be SO much happier. Good luck to them BOTH. Because they've both had to suffer through years of this nonsense.
What's also interesting is that Shaun, or in the original Irish Seán, is a boy's name. It translates to the name John, in English. It's interesting that this daughter was given a boy's name, at birth.
Mom secretly loves her food, but hates that she is better at cooking
@@chelybee yes !!
yep ! i'm excited for shaun's recipe book coming out soon! i want to try it and see what mayo mom doesn't like hahaha
You’re gonna go far with this!! Mother-daughter jealousy is so sickening 🙄 you approached it great!
thank you! it is so sickening, i've watched my mom suffer from this and i've had to work through that generational trauma and dismantle it.
@@sappholily good for you!! breaking cycles
@@LANEcor3 thank you!

She is what is known as a covert or vulnerable narcissist. A little research on you alls part and it will all, makes sense.
YES! i forgot what that was called, but i knew that's what she was
