I'm 30, a single mom of three and have been battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for the last 3 years. This sure brought memories of losing my hair almost a year ago. It kept falling out and it was very depressing. So one day, I just shaved it off! I felt a lot better a after, but I cried about it. My hair is just starting to grow back now :). My doc gave me an initial prognosis of 6 months and I'm still here! When I found out, it was breast cancer that spread into my bones and it hasn't spread any further than that yet. God is good!! Sometimes it takes what seems like a tragedy to realize how great and beautiful life truly is. God bless you on your journey!!

My mother was my best friend. I'm 19 and she passed away from Ovarian Cancer this past February. I remember the first time she walked in the room with a shaved head and all I could think of was how much of a beautiful warrior she was. Drawn on eyebrows, fake eyelashes, and wigs had became the norm. As well as the hospital becoming our new home and one problem after another until her sweet body couldn't take it any longer. I don't doubt that she is the most beautiful angel and her presence surrounds me with every step I take. Cancer is a terrible thing and the day we find a cure will be the best day on earth. I pray for all cancer patients. Have faith and find peace within the journey. You are not alone and loved by so many. xoxo

My heart hurts seeing this, I'm a cancer patient, I have Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia & I feel the pain of your aunt, it hurts to loose hair, even if hair is just hair it makes it more realistic that you're really going through it. Your aunt is in my thoughts & prayers. She will get better, God is with her ❤️. Strongest person over! She's brave for doing this took me a few months to cut my hair & she has such a positive mind set so I know she will beat this & be better than great!

I will never forget the day I saw her without hair and she told me just because I'm sick doesn't mean I'm different. Jared and Ellie- I am one of those "silent subscribers" watching you since you had only about 10,000 subs! I have enjoyed every single one of your videos because of the family and love that is expressed in all of them. I so clearly remember the day we shaved my Grandmas hair. I was in tears while listening to Sonja and watching the emotions flash across her face. She is an extremely brave, strong, and inspirational woman. Thank you for making a beautiful moment out of something that is difficult for so many families to go through. Looking forward to tomorrow.

My mom had breast cancer when I was in third grade and I remember that we had a shaving party when her hair started falling out. We died her hair pink and blue, (pink for my sister's favorite color and blue for mine) then shaved it all off. I remember hating it, I wanted my mom to stay the same. Now five years later she is healthy and has beautiful brown hair without a speck of gray in it as the chemo made her have new hair follicles. Your hair will come back beautiful Sonja! You are beautiful and bald is beautiful! Your strength, courage and smile will get you through this!

That was so beautiful. I remember when my mom's long time best friend had cancer. She is like my second mom and she had non Hodgkins lymphoma when I was about 12. She came over one day and her hair was falling out and she said screw it let's shave it. We shaved it and we all went to the wig store and bought really fun colorful wigs and she rocked those every day. Her kids thought it was so cool. She is in remission now. Your family is in our prayers

I wish your family the best results and may you all continue to fight against Cancer.

My grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer not too long ago, I remember sending letters to her hospital and waiting for the phone to ring. I prayed every night seeking for an answer for my prayers to be answered. Sometimes I'd just sit and look at things that would remember me of her. Not to long after that she was out of the hospital, cancer free! I was so excited I couldn't wait to see her! And to everyone who has cancer, knows someone with cancer, or knows someone who did with cancer this is for you: When you listen to your heart you hear things. You hear things telling you that it will all get better. Sometimes it doesn't. But don't throw your hope away just because it seems like things aren't going good. They are fighters. They love you. You know them. Be proud to say that your sad, or unhappy. Because it's ok to feel that way. Ask someone for a warm and loving hug. Keep their memory in your heart. Stay strong. Because you are amazing and can get through anything, if you try. Thanks for reading this everyone. Have a nice day! And remember, stay true to yourself, and believe. :)

This reminds me so much of my grandmother. My grandmother passed of breast cancer when I was only 5 years old. She was my bestfriend. She was so strong! Her one token of hope through her treatment was her hair. She lost her hair only a few weeks after starting treatment and from then on wore beautiful wigs. She had a whole collection. My grandmother felt it was her duty to keep me safe. She would not allow me to feel fearful toward the situation. Her wigs were her way of doing so. I love her and miss her with every strand of my being! I am now 17 and wish that one day I can empower women such as my grandma and your aunt have!

This is such a beautiful and touching vlog! My mom lost her sister to cancer almost 6 years ago now. My aunt was an amazing lady... She actually *did* breastfeed my older brother when my mom was unable to after a very traumatic birth, having just had her own baby two months before! Yeah, she nursed her daughter and her nephew! I remember you talking with your sister about that a few vlogs ago--that you would breastfeed for each other, if necessary.

It's such a stressful and emotional time, but it really makes you grateful for your life and health. I'm never going to forget seeing the picture of my friend in hospital, on the verge of death. My grandmother passed away from breast cancer when i was around 6-7 years old and at first I didn't understand what was going on at the funeral. I remember seeing my family crying, and when it was my turn to go see my grandma inside the casket I think I gave her a kiss. I know she looked beautiful. She was a stunning lady. Once we were leaving the funeral home, and I realized my grandma wasnt coming with me, I sat on my knees in the back seat facing the cars behind the car and started crying. I had a short time with my grandma but my memories of her, even though there arent that many, still stay with me.
I wish your aunt and anyone who is going through this the very best. My love goes to all of you and I wish you all the very best. You are all warriors. And I pray to the lord that he stands by your side in this war. I cried quite a lot.

Aunt Sonya made me cry. One of my very best friends mothers passed away last January to pancreatic cancer. The first time I met her she was in recovery from having a procedure to remove part of her intestines. We grew so close in that very small window of time. Right before I was due to deliver my son she was actually declared NED (no evidence of disease). Only a short time later it had come back worse and spread to more places. The last time I saw her I brought my son who was only 4 months old at that point, I layed him next to her and she smiled. She was on so many pain medications but she still knew who was laying next to her. I know she watches over us every day. She was such a blessing in my life and I am truly glad to have known her even if it was for such a brief period in my life.

With over 1700 comments, this might not be seen, but I just wanted to say, I've lost a grandma and two aunts to cancer. I watched my mom watch her sisters die and as hard as it was to witness having the testimony I do, and seeing the faith they had made it so much easier. I believe they are all watching after us and have no more pain or discomfort. Cancer sucks, but all we can do is love them and support them. From what I can see, your aunt has an amazing support system! Prayers and love to you!

This is very beautiful!!! My grandma is my best friend and she 10 years ago we got the call saying my grandma had colon cancer. My grandma is the strongest women I know. And we did all the chemo and treatment I stood by her the whole time. She started to lose her hair she didn't want to go out anywhere cause she didn't like people staring at her. So I was in high school still. I went to see her and to take her to lunch and she wouldn't go because her hair. My hair is very thick and is down to my but. I walked in her house to get her and she just keep saying no we will order lunch so you don't have people staring at u. I told her I had a gift and she said you are my gift and when I took my beanie off I was bold she cried but I told her she is going and she couldn't be the only one with no hair! But she kicked cancer but and is still going strong she is now 75!

I offered many times to shave my hair off and give it to her as a wig but she always told me if I ever cut my hair she would be upset with me. What a great group of supporter she has behind her. Im supporting and rooting for you. Stay Strong.

I am so sorry for the Cancer diagnosis. I lost my Dad to stage 4 lung cancer last year. My uncle had colorectal cancer and he fought it and lived pretty well for 6 years. I still believe in miracles and the power of prayer. So I am praying for you and hoping for miracles. God is with you.

My dad had stage 3 (almost 4) colon cancer that was spreading and he has been in remission for 12 almost 13 years. Then my grandma (my mom's mom) had I think it was cervical cancer. Her cancer tumor was as big as a beach ball. She was in remission for 15 year before a stroke that lead to an aneurism took her this last November. But medicine has come along away in the last 50+ years. Its come a long way even in my lifetime. And I'll be 18 in October. I'm hopeful for your aunt and I'll keep her in my prayers. This video definitely got the water works going.

The love that your aunt has from you guys is amazing, and my mom passed away from liver cancer in 1999, she never had a fighting chance. She never had the opportunity to have this support. My Papa who was very close to me when I was a little girl had stomach cancer. He was with me pretty much every day from the moment I was born until he took his last breath when I was five. He had been having stomach issues and weird pain in his stomach and the doctors just kept blowing him off, they went to operate on him to see if they could remove the cancer. By the time they operated the cancer had really took up his whole digestive system, it was very advanced and sadly there was nothing they could do for him. I think he passed about a year after the diagnosis, I still can't believe its been 15 years I miss him so much.

I give you all so much props for doing that. cancer truly does suck. I've wanted to shave my head for a while for cancer but never have the guts to do it. I've had my fair share of encounters with cancer, not personally, but through family members, and to watch a family member basically deteriorate right before your eyes is probably the hardest thing ive ever had to do and I would never wish it upon anyone. ellie you guys are very lucky that your grandma was able to fight for so long and that your aunt has such a fighting spirit. I had to watch the fight slowly fade away from my grandma in a mere 6 weeks before she lost her battle, and then again 10 years later had to watch the fight slowly fade away in my grandpa for a 6 week battle before he was taken. When it comes to anything, not just cancer, you never know when the last moment together will be. as cullen has said in his vlogs before "we live in a life of uncertainty, things can change in the blink of an eye." so I urge everyone to hug their parents, their aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, tell them you love them, and keep them close to your hearts. If your not talking to relatives, make up, no fight will ever be worth the heart ache you feel when their gone, the pain of not being able to say goodbye. I live with that pain every single day and it does not get any better. I never got to say goodbye to 3 out of 4 of my grandparents and it kills me each and every day. with 2 out of 4 grandparents i said the same thing, I'll go visit them tomorrow, i'm too tired.. little did I know that night would be their last and I lost my chance to say goodbye one last time. I wish every single day that I could have my grandparents back for just one more day to hug them and tell them I love them and say goodbye to them one more time. I wish every day that I could re-do those days and spend every waking moment with them that I could just so I could have some closure. So really I do urge everyone out there this holiday season, and every other time of the year to keep your family as close as possible bc you never know whats in store and what could happen.

My grandma has multiple myeloma as well. Last August they told us she only had a month left, and she's still with us today. Unfortunately we aren't able to keep her at home as its not as easy or comfortable for her. I've grown up living with all 4 grandparents and it feels like a piece of the puzzle is missing. :( I'm still thankful she's with us even if she's not home.

Came from Bonnies channel and you all look fab.. I had cancer last year and the cancer I had was sarcoma.. I had a big op and radiotherapy every day for 7 weeks and was in hospital for 2 weeks was so hard as I didn't get to see my 3 kids till the end of the last week.. I was 35 when I got told I had cancer deep in my soft tissue.. I am doing better now but the kind of cancer I had has a high chance of it coming back in my lungs but could come back anywhere in my body.. Good luck to everyone that is living with cancer or has some they know with cancer.... Xx

I'm still catching up on all of your vlogs. I started watching last year from the very beginning. I've seen plenty of your touching videos but this one got me. The fact that she didn't have to take that big step alone is wonderful. Hair might only be a superficial part of you but it can be very hard to lose your hair when its beyond your control. So hugs to Ellie's aunt for showing cancer who's boss. And hugs to the entire family for supporting her!

For whatever reason somehow I seemed to have missed watching this Vlog until today, but I am so glad I did see it. You are all so amazing. I was diagnosed last year with Thyroid Cancer and although my treatment was "easy" it has forever changed my life. The love, positive energy, strength, and hope you show on a daily basis with the world is incredible. This was beautiful and real. With everything going wrong in the world I am glad I can come to TH-cam and get a 15 min glimpse that there are still good people in this world, humanity is not lost completely. You inspire me. To be a better Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend, and member of society. I just wanted to say Thank You. Keep doing what you are doing because whether you know it or not, you ARE making a difference.

ah i hate it when the feels happen. my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer when i was 7 and losing her hair was one of the harder things for her. she felt so exposed and so vulnerable. she slept with her bandana on because she couldn't bare to expose her head. throughout the time following her surgery, during her radiation, her siblings came out to visit and help one by one. (she has 7) her closest brother flew out and the moment he got to the house he pulled her into a hug and pulled his hat off revealing that he'd shaved his head for her. It was a small gesture for him, but it meant so much to my mom. It sticks out to me because I was young. while I knew the terminology and I certainly knew more about cancer than anyone else my age, I couldn't truly understand her struggles. Plus, she was always so strong. But the visible signs of her illness, like the loss of her hair, are images that stick out in my mind. Thankfully, she is now 17 years cancer free, though still living with the effects of the treatments.
I'm praying for your aunt, Ellie. And for Matt and Em, Jared. I'm so happy to see the joy and hope that you bring to us online and your friends and family in person. I am thankful for your videos everyday.
