Well admittedly many of the car companies especially japanese ones have ventured into many projects not related to cars...Honda had ASIMO for so many years and heck Honda even sells jets today...and Toyota had a trumpet playing robot many years ago! Car companies have scientists and engineers it shouldn't be a big surprise!

It's all about corporate growth and making money. No one wants to share the wealth or the recognition with their rivals and competitions

Drove it for 10 years with nary a squeak from the engine except for a cracked fan belt in its eighth year. After ten years I traded it in and bought a brand new European car. Who is more adaptable, precise, and physical than a basketball player? The answer would be a hockey player skating at 50+ km/h, dodging opponents, aiming, and shooting a puck past a goalie. When Toyota builds a robot that can do this, I’ll be truly impressed.

My friends and I practiced trick shots when we were kids and I learned the catapult hook, too. Can hit 7 out of 8 from 25 feet. The secret is out.
