Eddie Van Halen and Stevie Ray Vaughn are the GOATs imo. Two different styles but both equally amazing. Oh, and I've seen them both live. I saw VH open for The Doobie Brothers in the mid 70s and I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin USA August 26th 1990. This solo started out as being a warm up exercise Eddie would do before club gigs or where ever they played. Their debut album,in 1978, a producer had the idea & Eddie agreed to have it as a track for that record. It took only one take.Over time it grew with bits of songs or Eddie experimenting with different sounds, effects. He never played it the same way.Eddie would either add or take away parts. From 1978-2015 all over the world

Jimmy Hendrix
Eddie probably 3rd after clapton
What I love is, that his first solo on this video, was like a speed run through all his little pieces that he played there.
awesome awesome awesome! you just absorbed my entire teens and 20s...that was FUN!!! I don't mean to be greedy but please do more Van Halen! :) EVH was the greatest ever...changed Rock and Roll guitar for a generation or more... TNX!
Eddie was my inspiration for picking the guitar. I saw Van Halen 7 or 8 times, and stood there with my chin dropped in awe of his talent every time, always amazed!! RIP Eddie!!
Ive seen them 6 times..and each solo is different..he just goes through a library of work to put together a cohesive solo live and its amazing mistake free guitar work..hes the best
Or if he made mistakes, just kept playing and did it that way again so it looked like he meant to. (Lesson taught by Eddie and Alex’ father)
I believe this was actually his warm-up routine before a gig, just freestyling between snippets from different songs and someone else from the band suggested he should actually do that during the gig on stag as well... and the rest is history.
Without question the GOAT of rock n roll guitarists. Possibly any guitarist.. RIP Eddie ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Another ULTIMATE!! Stink Face is 'Stevie RayVaughn' Texas Flood,.live 😉
Virtuosity little brother. He was a master. RIP.
Eddie Van Halen is a legend. King of all guitar players out there. Glad you got to hear his awesome music!
To this day he has revolutionized the way Guitar is played.
RIP Eddie!
Saw him live twice. PURE JOY. R.I.P. EVH. Missed sorely.
Eddie Van Halen was a BEAST on the guitar - made sounds that people only THOUGHT of.....should check out more, Dear! :)
I just enjoyed watching your face trying to process what you were watching. I got to see Van Halen twice live! AMAZING!!!!
You are indeed correct. Edward Van Halen was sooooo on fire that even Michael Jacksons camp invited him to do the guitar solo on Michaels hit song ' beat it '. Edward Van Halen G.O.A.T.🎸🎸👑👑 You should react tosomething from their 1st album?? Ain't talking bout love or Jamies crying and...LISTEN TO EDDIES STUDIO GUITAR SOUND....DAYUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM enjoyed ur reaction and subscribed 😁😁
EVERYONE gets the Consciousness Expanded when hearing & Seeing Eddie Play for the First Time!
Best Of All Time!
Long live king EVH!!!
The first part of this solo he would play to his unborn son in his wife's womb... No wonder that kid has so much talent!
Eddie's brother Alex is on the drums. An outstanding drummer.
Lets go!! Molly boy, your absolutely killing it my bro!!
You need to hear Dimebag Darrel. They were great friends . Check out Pantera Dominion live in Moscow 91.
From 1978-2015 all over the world
That’s just eruption, this is a bunch of songs put together and other bits
@@RiderVilly I thought that's what I said.bits of songs..Like a small portion of "Mean Streets"towards the end
The absolute G.O.A.T! Love and miss Eddie so much
The greatest rock guitarist of all time
I wasn't at that show. But was at one in Charlotte N.C. I can't talk at all the next day for screaming and singing . I will never ever forget that solo. My mind to this day is still blown away. R.I.P Eddie.
LOVE the reaction!! :) Please do not forget Stevie Ray Vaughn.... ♥ “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
I've seen this VH video probably 100X and it still gives me chills. I was lucky enough to see them live on this tour. Was most excellent.
Yep. He was the best. Every time I hear Van Halen, I smile. I don’t cry.
It is so fun to watch peoples facial expressions as there brain tries to process it all . Eddie was the first at many new things and a true legend and KING of the hammer ons . I was lucky enough to catch Van Halen twice live in the 80,s and they were SO good ! Just awesome to see younger generations discover this man and his many talents .. RIP Eddie you will be missed Sir ! Great reaction !
Saw them twice. Yes it's 10x better live
Came over to America as a kid after WWII from Holland. Couldn't speak English at the time. His dad was a jazz musician and took classical piano lessons. He built his own guitars and never learned to read music. A God given talent of playing by ear. There is a interview with him on you tube before one of his guitars was placed in the Smithsonian museum. A true legend of guitar
