imagine having the technology still to print old school style ultis but refuse to do so because it's not enough profit printing money already
this is the first product I’ve seen with out the 25th anniversary branding in 2 years
so they clearly can make the old ultimates if they reallly really wanted to.....noted
Konami proving they can easily put old school ultimates back in core sets, they just choose not too.
Give us back ultis in core sets!!!

This is most likely a test run for exactly that. Konami opened up Pandora's Box with QCRs in core sets. But in 2025, they're going away again. Going back to Starlights or bust just won't be the same, and it would lead to poor box sales for every 2025 core set unless it's POTE tier insane. My theory on what Konami will do is bring back Ultis and Ghosts - however, they will keep Etched Border Ultis exclusive to OTS Packs and OCG Style Ultis exclusive to Rarity Collection Packs. Core sets will have classic GX-5Ds style Ultis.

I remember going to the sneak for this set just looking for the Frog stuff😂 Then getting stomped by one of the shiniest decks I’ve ever seen (Lightsworn)
Glorious illusion was not to slow, its just that 9 out of 10 times you end up milling it, and since it does nothing upon being milled it was better not played.
Oh I'm so disappointed that they decided to go with the old borderless ultimate rare design. I was REALLY hoping it would be like late Turbo Pack/Astral Pack look, or even how they do the OTS ones. Point is, no ulti border, no buy for me.

I am GUTTED Konami didn't use the old printing. Lyla for example looks exactly like the cheap battles of legend reprint. Such a shame! Also they reprinted Ryko recently so this reprint is underwhelming. :(
It at least has a unique factor with old school ultimates with modern card borders.
The nostalgia is nice, but I hate how the cards are updated to the modern standard look of cards released in current sets. It all looks too clean and I've missed the slightly grittier look to the cards of the past.

MODERN card layout but OLD OUTDATED pre-PSCT card text (when all those cards have already been reprinted/errata'd with PSCT text)?? Makes no sense, especially when they are doing the old classic card layouts for the North American Retro Pack 2 reprint 😂
Europe is also most likely not getting the last Speed Duel set so there is that (Konami Europe trying to cheap out again even though we have the best tcg card quality)

When do we get this set
If you're not EU or Austrlia? Not getting it. EU is getting this set, plus the Lightsworn structure they never got, and a Legendary Dragon box from 2017. The US/Canada/LatAm region is getting Retro Pack, Speed Duel Midterm Destruction, Speed Duel OTS Pack 7, and Speed Duel Battle City Finals.

They're reprinting the three products EU/Aus never got: Light of Destruction, Lightsworn Structure, and the 2017 Legendary Dragons box. Don't worry, NA/Canada/LatAm is getting the Retro Pack. But at least the Retro Pack is going to have the original printing style and double the foil pull rate, I guess. At least Edison and Goat players will be happy to have a cheap way of getting pre-errata sangan and catapult turtle. I guess.

am I in the minority or does the supers and ultras look trashy? Like the quality of the foil just seems very low. Seeing it shine on the stars and attributes makes it look like an etsy card. the ulties look fine and the secrets look nice tho.
they shouldve reprinted it in old style like it historically was, that was also an issue with the gen 1 lob and other sets they released earlier

it's cool seeing the old cards, but this product just makes no sense to me. why dont we have ultis in core sets if you can clearly do it? why are the old cards printed in modern format if you've established you can give them the old school feel with the retro pack re-wave announcement? why not do the whole 1-foil-per-pack since we've had that since bosh, which had very similar rarity distributions to this set? who is buying more than one box of this for nostalgia? it just all feels so weird
