I just Purchased a 2023 TRD Off Road no mark up. I live in Kentucky. I have always wanted a Tacoma TRD Off road. I sold my 2016 F150 FX4 to purchase a new 2023 because I really wanted the 3.5 V6. I have owned the TRD off road for 2 months now and it is fantastic
Wish this was the case in my market area. All TRD sport or OR are in mid to upper 40’s with a few in the low end; while SR5’s are mid to upper 30’s. Couldn’t justify that much more if all I really needed was a V6, LB, and towing capability with some added tech for safety. Better suspension, locker, more off road capability would’ve been nice. But not for the prices I’m seeing in FL/SE market…Oh well. Great channel btw - very passionate and helpful.🤙🏼
Your long bed looks good! I owned a 2020 Black Sport basic bought new for $35500 right before crazy covid prices, traded in for a 2023 TRD PRO Black that I paid MSRP.. I'm happy with the PRO.
I bought a 2023 Trail Edition, automatic. I really wanted a manual but I figure I’ll be driving it until I’m in my 70’s (currently mid 40’s) and didn’t figure I’ll want to be clutching by that age. Drove my 98 manual Taco for 25 years.
Bought mine back in July TRD off road SB. I didn’t like the chrome so I’ve started to black it out lol which most of of do. I got it for 42500 but with the mark ups and gap insurance came out to 47500. I’m happy to be part of the taco club. I’ve been out in the foothills and mountains already with it (beginner trials because I’m new to this) I can’t wait to swap out the suspension and lift kit. Such an amazing truck. Thank you for all ur videos bro keep it up hopefully I can get the chance to do what u do on TH-cam and help fellow taco drivers out.
Wow, ok then in my personal case I disagree. I got my 2022 with just 7128 miles on it with the Xp predator package for 28689. In mint condition. So I feel like I made out for what I'm using the vehicle for. Maybe in the future, I'll upgrade to the off-road if my needs change. But for now, I'm feeling good about the purchase. Good vid.
Trd sport DCLB 4x4 in Lunar Rock with Premium package. Blackout package, bed lighting, and a bunch of other stuff. I plan on taking it a bunch of places and am going to be super strict on maintenance. Expect it to last the next 20 years!
Sounds alot like what I got,2019 L.B 4 door L.R color premium package black out package. Was looking for a bedliner on F.B. market I asked if the truck was for sale it was a lease turn in so I offered her a deal and we struck a cash deal
You can escape markups by simply telling them NO when they tell you about market conditions or adjusted costs or dealer markup. You have to be willing to show them you are serious about buying but you just won’t pay anymore than msrp. The price is already high and the dealer is already making money by not haggling so why give them your couple of thousand dollars when you could use that for rent, aftermarket tires or a new I Phone?
While working overseas I ordered a 2016 TRD Sport, access cab and long bed. It was delivered from the factory in San Antonio in mid December. Now, almost seven years later, I love it. But in hindsight, I would have been better off to get the OR with Access Cab. Since them, I have put the Pro skid plate, steel steps, black grill, color m atching tonneau cover, all LED bulbs, and swapped the hood with another OR owner to get rid of the hood scoop. I hated the scoop, it really limited vision over the nose. 99.9 of my time is spend on the road, so the few time I get down logging roads what I have works great.
OR with Access Cab in the US is hard to find. I would absolutely agree that an access cab is so much better. I'd rather have the 6ft bed rather than the 5ft bed but still maintain the overall length which I think is perfect.
I agree and I negotiated and paid 37,500 for my TRD OFF-Road Blackout package, in Texas and I bought it on-line... to avoid the sales pressures tactics.
Hi yes,I found a 2019 long bed 4 Dr sport 4x4 loaded all extras.33. 000 on F. B market .Made deal from a lady who was going to turn in her truck off of lease .
Great video and I agree. I have a SR5 (4x4, V6, SB, tech pkg) that was a pandemic buy. Only 1k short of a base OR. After typical newby mods the SR5 still runs short of the OR in the mountains. I have brake fade on hills (OR has hydraulic brakes), 4x4 is limited with no terrain modes and no rear locker. My SR5 is still a beast with upgraded tires and shocks, but I hold back on dirt fun. I admit, I stay on the bunny hills while the OR/PRO fo play. Haha.
@@sharkskin3448 There are 2 different systems based on the models, OR and Pro get the electronic/mechanical unit because it is used to control the ATRAC and or Crawl Control systems, all the others models use the traditional style vacuum boosters.
Love my 23 TRD premium package fully loaded…. Except it doesn’t have the front camera monitor. Other then that it’s everything I wanted and it’s a great truck and I was able to get it in July new for a little over 3000 off sticker. Sticker was a little over 46,000 and I payed 43,000 👍🏻👊🏻
Bought my 2023 TRD Off Road in Lunar Rock last December for 44k MSRP. Came with some decent options. I think the Off Road is the best package for its purpose- off roading. Checked out the SR5 Trail Edition but is was way overpriced for what it had. You are basically paying for looks. A poser version of the Pro IMO. I think the SR5 with 4WD (not Trail Edition) is a good choice for a every day work truck. The Pro is for show offs. I’m one of those guys and wanted the Pro but wasn’t willing to get raped with a 5-8k markup. Having to pay MSRP was bad enough since until now I have never paid MSRP on any vehicle in my life but it’s crazy times right now. Looking back I agree the Off Road is the best bang for your buck and happy with my choice. Get your 2023 before they are history because I think they will be instant classics once the last one is sold.
@@westcoasttaco Don't be! I love your truck and what you've done with it. I've kept mine mostly stock only because I don't travel much anymore. The best thing about the Pro is off road performance. Soaks in the bumps like nothing else. Other than that, it's a standard Tacoma. I wish I had a long bed like you. BTW, I paid $1500 less than MSRP when I bought my Pro. Now, that's impossible. @@ElChupahuahua great deal on the pro!! Those days are long gone… at least for now! I’m sure the 4th gen may see similar deals in 2026.. but for the 3rd gen it’s either bite the bullet for the V6 or forever hold your peace..
It looks as if you modified this truck with the trd pro suspension and grill. Also, skid plate change along with wheels and tires. I didn't get the premium package. I don't need BLM or parking sensors. My 18 was premium. I removed the bumpers and replaced with steel. I agree with the offroad being the best option. Not necessarily the premium. Sunroofs can leak. You're right on!! My area seems like all the long beds are SR5 or 2wd OffRoad's. The kicker is white or black are 98% of them. Funny how we both turned our Offroads into want-to-be PRO'S. I couldn't find a pro so a 46k offroad turned out to be 53k (1k for dealer mark-up) out the door and still missing the cool control arms, pro lights but I'm an 1" taller than a stock Pro due to TRD lift kit. Keep the Truck and AVOID THE 4TH GEN!!!! See you on the next vid!

You carry an extra 1500 lbs around for no reason in the south, less gas milage and lower towing capacity with 4wd. I ask a guy guy at boat ramp how many times he needed his 4wd on his tacoma. He said never. Every 2wd has lsd. I have had 2 tacomas 2wd for the last 5 yrs and never got stuck. Limited 2wd the best buy. tows 6800 lbs..24mpg. 18 inch wheels. $42,000
If you don't do rock crawling , then any Tacoma with an automatic transmission sucks big times and in reality Tacoma was made to have a manual transmission with that amazing 6 speed gear box and that smooth gearing ratio . Most people doesn't even know what they are missing out to begin with .I own a Tacoma trd pro manual transmission and a landcruiser .
There was time when all I would own is a manual . Now I’m at a time in my life I don’t enjoy working the clutch non stop in bumper to bumper traffic on a daily basis Personally I don’t think the auto sucks. I had very little gear hunting with my 23 TRD and learned the sweet spots and how to drive it which to me is much easier then constantly shifting gears especially in traffic. I’ve recently got a Overland tune my truck since lifting and going to 285’s . Amazing power now and no gear hunting . Just my 2 cents and my opinion but for me shifting with a manual would suck big time :) and wouldn’t make up for any positives it might have other then to say I got a stick shift that they didn’t make as many of and are hard to get .
It's a truck. I don't care what the wheels look like as long as they are round. Plus it's only a mini truck. Putting lipstick on a pig? I'm good with my Taco offroad 2023. But I'm not trying to pretend it's a Raptor.
Toyota sends me surveys all the time, on practically anything to do w/ the Tacoma (some of it is a real stretch) - not one question about how I feel about all the damn chrome, not one! These dealers need to be punched straight in the mouth w/ tanking sales. It has got to stop. DO NOT BUY. I'm guessing CA dealers are leading and bleeding edge of painful prices?

The Rear Locker locks the axles together to provide 100% of available torque to the wheel with traction.
