Every skateboarder on the planet that has ever been seriously injured is spiritually with you right now Tony. It sucks but you gotta lay off it and heal up.
And damn, Steve-o is already hard to listen to (I'm constantly clearing my throat sympathetically), but I was kinda bummed on that audio. But y'all already know. And I fully support posting it w/ shitty audio vs not at all.
Great one again fellas! Tony, mine was "only" an ankle operation, similar to your son's, artificial ligaments and all, at 46 and I'm not a pro skater, nor make my living with anything related to skating, but had quite hard time for a few weeks, months even, living in doubt if I'll ever skate or play ice hockey again, be physically active again... I can only try to imagine having to have a new surgery - BUT - as Jason said, it WILL be ok, the modern medicine is awesome and you will be back at your vert soon. With the new information you have, you'll take it slower and more cautious, but with the same desire to fly again, and you will! You know you've got the whole skate world rooting for you! 👊🏻
This one helped me today. 51 y/o, just had 3rd surgery on old and painful hand injury. I understand the fears and anxieties Tony, thanks for sharing. Everyone hopes that your leg gets better and stronger than ever!
Seeing Tony so bummed breaks my fuckin heart man. I know I speak for a lot of people when I say I wish it was me and not him. Absolute legend and role model and seeing how supportive Jason is to him is a friendship anyone would want. Love this podcast so damn much! Keep it up HvW crew!
I’m also healing with a long term recovery and I know how helpless, hopeless, frustrating and painful it is. Just try to keep your chin up, allow yourself to feel angry or sad and then try to process that and move forward. You’re allowed to grieve. It’s a lot. Please take care of yourself.
I've learned after being let down by several doctors that it needs to be a team effort. I had to start doing homework on the medications they were talking about, procedures and techniques etc. because I know me best. After some special incidents with doctors, managers etc. I no longer trust anyone 100%.
It's always a highlight of my week when HawkWolf releases. Love the show, been super inspired always by both of your stories (by Tony as an old-school head for skating, and by Ellis as a kinda punchy pothead gay dude myself) and want nothing but for yall to continue to succeed!
One of the best episodes. We all believe in you Tony. Jason was the perfect emissary of that message too. If you’re having trouble believing in your outcome, understand that we believe in you enough to compensate for your worries and doubts. You’ve got this and we all know it.
Hang in there, Tony! You'll get through it! And all your progress has not been a waste; it's truly inspiring watching your road to recovery, and it's normal to have to take "two steps forward, one step back". I'm sure it's frustrating, but you're the master of getting back up again, and you'll overcome this challenge.
I'm 49 just had my first hip replacement, than a big toe fusion, now one more hip replacement. that's what's happening after skating since I was 11. But very grateful to be able to get it fixed
Tony, I know skateboarding is your livelihood and letting you know that taking time to heal is crucial. I was in pain for a couple years from a lower spine injury from skateboarding. I tried physical therapy, plenty hot baths and ice, a lot of laying down to relieve the pain with minimal walking and skating, just cruising around to keep my spirits up. It's been a long road to recovery for me and I've regained my strength slowly. Take it easy, in due time, you'll regain your strength as well.
Hope your surgery is a success 🙂 I was hit by a drunk driver at 22 years old. 20 something surgeries and countless rehab I've lived in constant pain for the last 32 years. 😔
4 months in on a broken collarbone. I am 43. Take time to heal! but it was hard as hell sitting on the couch for months during the summer. You will be rippin' again!! peace
Tony.. yes, your recovery was inspirational.. and it was great to see you "recovering" so fast from such a serious accident. But to fail.. to have to take one or two steps back.. to go forward again.. that's much more inspirational!! Because that's real life!. Take more care of your body this time.. and keep inspiring us that same way!. You rock man!!.. you really do!. You're one of a kind...🤘
Hawk and Wolf (A Poem for Jason and Tony) The hawk Once in flight, now grounded Seemingly vulnerable for the first time No horizon to explore, no wind to be carried on A predator turned prey, but not forever For he has an unexpected ally The wolf Gold teeth and painted claws Willing to do anything to protect what he loves He stands near Watching, waiting, encouraging Knowing it's only a matter of time A brief moment, by comparison Until both predators are able to hunt again And until the hawk can take to flight The wolf remains Watching, waiting, encouraging
TENSION MYOSITIS SYNDROME. Maybe. It’s what was wrong with me. Had surgeries and was supposed to be good, but still had pain. And then the pain would move to different parts of my body I had injured before. I was scared of hurting myself again but the pain was coming from my brain. It’s worth looking into. I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I hope you do. Listen to or read Dr. Sarno’s books.
Definitely came back too soon. I was wincing when I saw him at that Vert Alert demo. If he wanted an honest timeframe on his recovery maybe Cab was the man to speak too. I cracked my shin bone right up to the knee joint and blew all the cartilage out. Was on crutches for months and probably didn't skate again for a year. Then broke (crushed) my collar bone in 6 places and after what I thought was 6 weeks of healing found out the whole thing had fell apart so had to go under the knife again and start the process from scratch involving sleeping sitting upright for 3 months. So I feel for Tony on that front. I just keep thinking back to Stacey's comments in the recent doc. It was a freak accident for sure but Tony's desire to be up and skating so soon was probably where someone should have intervened. Anyway the op will be a success and I have no doubt Tony will bounce back from all of it. I just don't know what the rush was all about. This is a man who has absolutely nothing to prove.
There's a band named Poets of the Fall. Their lyrics are amazing and complex. Even a native speaker of English can have trouble understanding every bit of it. The guy who's their lead vocalist also writes the lyrics. He's absolutely brilliant.
Hey Bird Man! Wounded Wings take the weight of time to heal. Sometimes a wolf barks truth's. Tony you have already flown again. Live in laughter and honesty... Love where you are. Skill-ing-tons included. We all digress. Hopefully. Much love
You guys should start posting mini clips/sound bites of the show so that the podcast gets more traction on TH-cam. Rogan does this all the time even though he's on Spotify.
i think the show is perfect as is, huge fan, but if you ever want someone to run your mics/help audio prod the show i will literally get in my car and drive to CA immediately. 8 years in various roles in an indie radio station lol. tony, i have always looked up to you and your resilience. i hope you heal fast and good birdman.
Haha - I never noticed anything out of place camera wise but nice one Jason for the preflight checks 😄I see Tony, I see Jason. It's all good. There was the one Audio mess up but we won't mention that 😂 This is a seriously important part of everyone's week now. Dress it up how you want but you two in......a shed, would be just as good 😄
TONY.... im a nobody and have no advice..... but from the position of a photographer documenting life..... There is no shame in you making a professional choice to hang it up and focus on the business of skateboarding. I blew out my achillies a year ago..... I m not surfing any more ... Im ok with finding that joy...... elsewhere . Be grateful and blessed. You made so much of the sport.
It's crazy how much I relate to these episodes. I broke my wrist the same weekend Tony broke his leg, and felt like we were on some kind of mutual symbiotic path to recovery. All healing energy going out to the Birdman. He will fly again.
Sending healing vibes your way!💪 Stay positive!! Another EPIC episode!🤘 Hey, remember Bridge Bolts?? I'm imagining a great "comeback colab" opportunity!🤔 Imagine an x-ray showing a Bridge Bolt holding your femur together!😏 What......too soon?........my bad
You remember the guy who had to wait 6 months for his eye surgery And then once they took the bandages off oops I gotta do it again It's not that bad Tony Try thinking about it that way
Well, Tony has been treating his leg like a goddamn IDIOT!!!! YOU CAN NOT SKATE!!! PERIOD!!! He kept trying to force it days after surgery. That type of break (in his age) takes many months to fully heal.
At this point Tony could spend the rest of his life skating a 2 foot high mini ramp and skateboarding would respect him. But I respect that that’s not good enough for him.
Every skateboarder on the planet that has ever been seriously injured is spiritually with you right now Tony. It sucks but you gotta lay off it and heal up.
Guys, I don’t ever want this show to be other than what it is, technical glitches and all❤️
This, lol. I love how scuffed this podcast is. It's so great.
So much this. Go back to Tony's office.
Wannabe Poopies Channel 💩
I'd like a backdrop... maybe skeletons, with 90's haircuts?
And damn, Steve-o is already hard to listen to (I'm constantly clearing my throat sympathetically), but I was kinda bummed on that audio. But y'all already know. And I fully support posting it w/ shitty audio vs not at all.
This has been one of my favorite episodes because of the openness about your struggles Tony! It's inspiring! We are all pulling for you!
I can't see a comment you post without thinking of Sandstorm. Legendary lol
This one helped me today. 51 y/o, just had 3rd surgery on old and painful hand injury. I understand the fears and anxieties Tony, thanks for sharing. Everyone hopes that your leg gets better and stronger than ever!
Thank you Ellis for putting on headphones to check the mics beforehand.. appreciate it. Video and audio are great now
Recording levels can fuck off an otherwise great podcast, no question.
Seeing Tony so bummed breaks my fuckin heart man. I know I speak for a lot of people when I say I wish it was me and not him. Absolute legend and role model and seeing how supportive Jason is to him is a friendship anyone would want. Love this podcast so damn much! Keep it up HvW crew!
already thought Tony was among the coolest earthlings in history... the Evel Knievel story just adds to the legend :D
I’m also healing with a long term recovery and I know how helpless, hopeless, frustrating and painful it is. Just try to keep your chin up, allow yourself to feel angry or sad and then try to process that and move forward. You’re allowed to grieve. It’s a lot. Please take care of yourself.
Also if tony hawk can’t get quality care, the rest of us are screwed.
Tony, sending positive energy your way so you can have a full recovery.

jason and bert should have a podcast. unmoderated, uncut and uncensored.
I'm 49 just had my first hip replacement, than a big toe fusion, now one more hip replacement. that's what's happening after skating since I was 11. But very grateful to be able to get it fixed
Speedy recovery and pace your healing BIRDMAN . Pretty sure WOLFEMATE has your back .
Peace and love to you both
Good luck with the surgery! Hope to see you fly again!
“Just 10 more minutes.” Best line ever to me. Thanks guys!
Love this pod just the way it is. Much love and hopefully a speedy recovery for Hawk.
Your gonna get there Tony ! Stay positive
“Do you like poetry?“ I 🤬 love you guys 🖤🖤🖤
Praying for you Tony you hang in there man. 🙏
Good Luck, hope everything went well. stay positive
Wishing all the best Tony .
Thanks Guys for the awesome episode !!! Much Love and heal up soon Tony 🇿🇦❤️🤘🏻🛹
We’re here for the quality of the people, not the quality of production. You guys are rad and the guest’s you get are awesome as well.
Audio is PERFECT. Keep on goin guys! Great show as always.
I really appreciate Jason's great attitude and positivity while reassuring Tony about the future rides. Great job dudes!
What a good friend!
Tony, I know skateboarding is your livelihood and letting you know that taking time to heal is crucial.

23:40 I used to stare at that got milk ad in the cafeteria in elementary school and I always thought it looked funny, glad to finally know why
Fantastic start to the week with these guys (and Thor)
Hope your surgery is a success 🙂 I was hit by a drunk driver at 22 years old. 20 something surgeries and countless rehab I've lived in constant pain for the last 32 years. 😔

Hawk and Wolf (A Poem for Jason and Tony)
The hawk
Once in flight, now grounded
Seemingly vulnerable for the first time
No horizon to explore, no wind to be carried on
A predator turned prey, but not forever
For he has an unexpected ally
The wolf
Gold teeth and painted claws
Willing to do anything to protect what he loves
He stands near
Watching, waiting, encouraging
Knowing it's only a matter of time
A brief moment, by comparison
Until both predators are able to hunt again
And until the hawk can take to flight
The wolf remains
Watching, waiting, encouraging
Jason reading the ads is a thing. Love it!
Yeah sure, the FIRST ten minutes..
Yes makes him even more cute
Even if your leg never fully recovers, you've got this Tony.
Love you guy! Thank for giving us this podcast every week.
There is a bird that flies and a wolf with knives that means so much the sand that cries with joy
hope your surgery either is going well right now or went well. you will be back soon, the urethane saints have blessed thou's recovery
I was towing Tony in the parade😂 it was unreal to see him in pain and still push through. Incredible. Still waiting for him to sign my board😢
Tony's laughter is infectious
Im rooting for you tony mate 🤘🤘 you will get over this for sure 🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dude youll be ok, Ive had pre surgery jits, its all good, focus on other positive factors current in you life

Heeling wibes for you Tony 🙌 thanks for being open whit the mental struggle with being injured over time. You got this brother 🙌🤘🤙❤️💚

Hello hello from Des Moines Iowa

huge respect way far from georgia. the country
You guys should start posting mini clips/sound bites of the show so that the podcast gets more traction on TH-cam. Rogan does this all the time even though he's on Spotify.
I think I've said "fuck yeah!" out loud every single time I've seen you guys posted a new episode 💚
i think the show is perfect as is, huge fan, but if you ever want someone to run your mics/help audio prod the show i will literally get in my car and drive to CA immediately. 8 years in various roles in an indie radio station lol. tony, i have always looked up to you and your resilience. i hope you heal fast and good birdman.
Till the wheels fall off!
Love this show. Back listening after Tony went on 2B1C
Tony! How did your surgery go? Get well, soon!
Haha - I never noticed anything out of place camera wise but nice one Jason for the preflight checks 😄I see Tony, I see Jason. It's all good.
There was the one Audio mess up but we won't mention that 😂
This is a seriously important part of everyone's week now. Dress it up how you want but you two in......a shed, would be just as good 😄
the editor is good enjoying the closed captions
Audio and video both good. You two roll together so well. Had me actually lol’in
I love you both by yours self. But I completely adore you as a team. Jason is adorable.
Just watched a video game documentary that was narrated by Tony in like 2005, and it was fuckin awesome.
TONY PLZ TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. 💪
YES.
This was a great one guys, the positives and negatives back and forth was awesome 👌👏.
Always a fun hangout! 🤙😁
Stay optimistic and positive Tony ✊ you got this brother
Gotta love Jason for his consoling technique lol 🤟
Such a pure friendship ❤
Birman that DK cover was great, heal up fast!!
good episode guys.
I hope sooo I’m about to start again and recently am getting into collecting birdhouse decks! He’s a legend and always will be ❤
Jason, I’ve had people steal my online order at Panera Bread before I got there to pick it up.
TONY.... im a nobody and have no advice..... but from the position of a photographer documenting life..... Did like. Did describe. Hope you get better Tony, and hope your cake eye gets better Jason!
Tony should share a mistaken identity story at the end of every podcast
Herb Ritz was a huge playboy photographer. He shot all the icons of the 80’s/90’s.
It's crazy how much I relate to these episodes. I broke my wrist the same weekend Tony broke his leg, and felt like we were on some kind of mutual symbiotic path to recovery. All healing energy going out to the Birdman. He will fly again.
I ride BMX and others get so caught up people pleasing and forget to have fun.
Sending healing vibes your way!💪 Stay positive!!
Another EPIC episode!🤘
Hey, remember Bridge Bolts?? I'm imagining a great "comeback colab" opportunity!🤔 Imagine an x-ray showing a Bridge Bolt holding your femur together!😏
What......too soon?........my bad
Hey yall, get andy anderson on the pod...and have him try and teach jason freestyle tricks
Everything will be all right.
"Soon we're gonna be skeletons in the background" - Jason Ellis' poetry
Like and describe!
You remember the guy who had to wait 6 months for his eye surgery And then once they took the bandages off oops I gotta do it again It's not that bad Tony Try thinking about it that way
The photographer Jason is talking about is probably Neil Zlozower
If this podcast was perfect it wouldn’t be the same! We want it raw, fucked up and a lil off the chains!
They should be able to check blood coagulation at any place nearby. Nonetheless hope the surgery goes well!
Well, Tony has been treating his leg like a goddamn IDIOT!!!!
YOU CAN NOT SKATE!!!
PERIOD!!!
He kept trying to force it days after surgery.
That type of break (in his age) takes many months to fully heal.
Well a doctor did tell him that it was safe to use because it was screwed in place and that he should use his leg if it's not painful
The first photo that comes up when you search for Mike Muller , is him in a wetsuit LOL
Your the best jase!😂
Go see Derek from more plates more dates after the surgery. Get that Conner McGregor Cycle!
I hope Tony can come back, change up his style to keep going. Maybe flat ground and free style stuff would be cool to see.
The idea of someone mis-recognizing Tony Hawk.. I mean.. can frigging ROD do a kick flip? I don't think so....🤣🤣
At this point Tony could spend the rest of his life skating a 2 foot high mini ramp and skateboarding would respect him. But I respect that that’s not good enough for him.
I'm a poet
You're a poet
Heal up well Tony
Please don't blow it
Did they talk about SOTY in this podcast?
🤘 😎
Ellis needs more confidence and TONY YOUR DOING FINE!!!!
