Thank you for this video showing how poliomyelitis is transmitted and develops, and how post-polio syndrome is an extension of neuron damage as evidenced in muscle weakness. This is an excellent resource for student nurses who may come upon polio survivors who are seeking help for exacerbated pain and fatigue. Appreciate your work. Susan L. Schoenbeck, MSN, RN and polio survivor

you get post polio syndrome after a few years of the initial debilitating diseases, it usually effects people who has a residual polio that left them with a weak muscles on one side of the body ,and those who had a complete recovery from polio with no residual weaknesses they may get post polio syndrome later in life

Very young babies are not at risk. They are infected, and they but are protected by their mother's immunity. They develop immunity, but generally do not have any symptoms. The most vulnerable age is 6 months and 5 years. Symptoms include muscle pain, weakness, head ache, fever, paralysis quickly begins to develop in many cases.

So it is like being able to survive with one kidney but after a while... the kidney gets exhausted of providing for so many/ doing the job that should be done by more by itself?

My brother was new born and didn't become a victim. Whereas my mother contracted the virus in spine while I became infected in my legs. "Couldn't walk...no strength..."
