I will have only two days in Lima later in May. For safety reasons as well as to be able to walk to the oceanside, I'll stay in either Miraflores or Barranco. Like you, I prefer to sample the local cuisine, even street food as you have shown in this awesome video. Given that, in your opinion is it better for me to stay in Miraflores or Barranco in order to get relatively inexpensive Peruvian food? Another minor concern I have but maybe it's not a big deal, is if I do stay in Barranco, would it be harder to get to Plaza des Armas from there compared to from Miraflores? Maybe once I get a Uber, it won''t make a big difference anyway but I thought that I would ask you anyway. Whether I stay in Miraflores or Barranco, I do intend on walking around in both areas. Just don't know which is the better place for me to stay in. What are your thoughts?
Hello. Thanks for your comments. Well, Barranco people recommend because it has a more “European feel” “hip feel” which personally I don’t like it. But maybe if you are young you’ll enjoy it more. It’s definitely not cheaper and it’s not as organized or safe as mira flores. I recommend if possible stay as near as parque Kennedy as possible. From there you can have great walks and walk the malacon too. Also a nice walk along the malacon to Barranco to visit there “30-40” minutes. Also larco mar is a smallish but great mall with shops and a cinema. All of the things you can walk too. If you stayed in Barranco you gotta take a taxi to miraflores to not walk every time. Going to céreo de Lima like you said take a taxi doesn’t matter where from. But use an app.
@@Gringoinperuenglish I followed your advice and booked an Airbnb about 5 minutes walk just east of Parque Kennedy at Larco area. I'm looking forward to visiting Parque Kennedy too because I'm an animal lover but I do have a stupid question about the cats -- do any of them ever get hurt with the park being so close to so many cars there? I hope none of them wonder off and get caught on the busy streets beside the park.
Wow! The price difference is incredible. I am in Miraflores and I shop at Metro and Wongs and everything Is triple the price of what you just showed us. Of course Miraflores is expensive and the area caters much to tourists. Great video.
I'glad that You tour us through out this street local market,and explain in detail what they sell. This local market we call it " la paradita",si People living in the neighborhood make their daily food shopping around,without the hassel of going to the Supermarkets.

Hello. Yes, it’s outside the tourist area and can be viewed as dangerous if you don’t know what your doing. But of course I show it’s good and a place to experience if you want to do something different

Idk if eating street food is always safe. I'm peruvian myself, I live in europe now for 6 years, and the 2 times I've been to Peru and eaten street food, I got food poisoning. I'm sad because it's like my stomach got weak, but I learnt that I can't just tell people it is always safe to eat street food. Maybe in Miraflores/San Isidro it is safe, but in other districts I wouldn't recommend it. So, as a general rule, if you want to enjoy your time in Peru without getting sick, avoid street food.
