Lindsey Buckingham who is singing and playing the guitar wrote this song after breaking up with Fellow bandmate Stevie Nicks ( Who is stood on stage singing as well ) He wrote it to try and help him move on , they occasionally look across at each other while performing the song. Sadly the lady playing the keyboard (Christine Mcvie ) passed away in November last year , she was a brilliant songwriter and singer for the band etc. As always another fantastic reaction from you , the icing on the cake to this great performance!!!👏
Thanks for that Paul. The entire 'Rumours' album from which this song comes (1978) is an absolute masterpiece and is widely recognised as being one of the greatest albums of all time.
Lindsay Buckingham is just off The Charts, absolutely amazing vocals/guitar lines... so much emotional content, pours every ounce of his being into it.
Stevie and Lindsey were each other's Muse. He would write songs about her, she would write songs about him. They caused each other a lot of pain but inspired some great music. From this same concert there is one of Stevie's songs directed towards Lindsey, "Silver Spring" where Lindsey has to stand there and take it.....and do backup vocals......and play lead guitar.......
probably one of the 5 best albums of all time from start to finish. the fact they were even able to finish the album with all the "stuff" going on at the time is literally a miracle.
This was the band that me and my mum can connect too. I would drive her crazy just with Fleetwood on repeat. I was an old soul and now she is a new one she has now passed. Thank you.
When you know the history that is the album Rumors, and see the way Lindsay and Stevie interact while they sing this is profound. It's not even the same from live show, to live show as the years have progressed. In the early live versions, he couldn't even look in her direction while she gave him laser eyes, and smiled the pain away. Years later, he shakes his head as if to shrug off the pain between, "tell me why" and "everything turned around" . And here, notice the verses she chooses to harmonize with him, the ones he usually sings alone, as if to say those parts are mutual. There is a lot of love lost and pain in there that makes this song far greater than the sum of its parts.
Fleetwood Mac was one of the most successful bands in the 1970s and Stevie Nicks the lead FEMALE SINGER also had a great solo career in the 1980s. Other good songs of Fleetwood Mac are "LANDSLIDE", "WHY", "Don't Stop thinking about tomorrow" and "the Chain." Love your reactions, thanks for posting.
Your next live performance should be "Rhiannon" from The Midnight Special 1976. They're much younger, and they all rock out, and Stevie Nicks goes completely crazy on the vocals. A masterpiece.
The '70s were a great time for music. I was around 12-13 years old when this came out. Almost remember it like yesterday. Real musicians playing real music live. Keep up the good work !
I was a little younger like 5-6. I remember driving in the car with my mom listening to Fleetwood Mac songs on the radio back then. It also reminds me of the bionic woman. Probably because it was the same time period
I love how Stephanie Lynn Nicks looks at Lindsey while she's singing her part it's like I hate you LOL and Let's talk about how awesome that bass player is he's killing it And so did the drummer
That was definitely a passionate and emotional performance. Knowing the reason for the song and the way Stevie and Lindsey were looking at each other made me tear a little. I've seen this one before so it's good to see someone react to it knowing how good their performance was. Also, in the riff and a Lindsey Buckingham riff at that. But seriously loved your reaction and how much you appreciated them.🫢🫣😂
I have album Buckingham/Nicks before they joined Fleetwood Mac. Amazing breakup song. Stevie tried to get Lindsey to remove one line in this song, Shacking up is all you want to do. He refused but they always look at each other when singing the song. One of the most popular bands ever.
Man the years long and fiery:explosive on and off again relationship between Stevie and Lindsey as a couple gave birth to some of the best music in rock history. This song was written during one of their breakups..as in “You Can Go Your Own Way”…rock gold!
You were absolutely spot-on, when you said that modern music does not have the same feeling as the other tunes to. Classic rock is so much ahead of what is being played nowadays. Nothing can beat real musicians, real singing, and actual quality writing, all these are lacking in 99% of new music sad to say.
Wow! Fleetwood Mac 😮 another great band and a great song! Lindsey And Stevie were lovers back in the day! I believe they made the best music before he went solo…another great song ❤️🙏🏻🔥🔥☮️
Miaa your reactions just amazing and wow glad you reacting to Fleetwood Mac you are on a Great Train Ride with Fleetwood Mac alot of good songs and hits they have.
Could you imagine the tension in the studio writing & recording this song...? The story goes...Stieve Nicks 2:35 was having an affare with the drummer (Mic Fleetwood.) Lindsey Buckingham 2:39 found out about it but couldent leave the band because they were still under contract. So he wrote this to blow off steam. I coulden't imagine how tense & awkward it must have been in that recording studio... Years go by & they do this reunion,....You can see her looking at him.....Guilt??
The song is literally about the woman to his right singing backup vocals. They were a couple back in the 70s when they joined the band. Then they broke up during the recording of the 77 Rumors album and wrote songs about each other that the other had to sing and play along with.
I've seen Fleetwood Mac more times that I can think of. Stevie Nicks has always been my #1, but not only for music: Three of my friends got iPond Nano's from her - she's the shizz.
One of the Monster bands from the 70’s! What an abundance of artists that decade produced! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😂 If the Band is great, the live performance is were they live!👍
Please react to Big Love from this same concert!!! It's the most intense guitar/vocal solo ever, esp when you pay attention to the fingers and realize he is keeping the bass with his thumb, finger picking with his 3 finger AND working that pinky! PLUS the second hand is doing it's thing AND he SINGS!!! Once you watch his fingers a few times you wonder WTH!!! Oh and if you watch some videos on "how to play Big Love" you will not even realize they are the same song! Lindsay Buckingham recently got booted from the band thanks to his Ex- Stevie and both times he has left they have had to replace him with TWO brilliant guitarists!!! It's magic!!
My first time seeing them was 1978 Aug the World Series of rock great show they were the headline act Todd Rundgren & utopia, The cars, Eddie Money, and Bob Welch,
Your face says it all that was one of the best performances I've ever seen Lindsey Buckingham on the guitar is underrated Fleetwood Mac was the bomb is the bomb always will be the bomb that was a great concert I have the DVD I'm going to watch it again thanks
Yep. Welcome to the ridiculous wealth of bands and live shows ingested during my misspent teenage years in the 70s! (Of course, this gig was later...) Still, wonderful bands and shows and experiences and Life! Soo gifted. Cheers rl 🤘👹🤘
Stevie had a particular problem with a line in the second verse: “packing up, shacking up, that’s all you want to do,” implying that she moved in with men at the drop of a hat. That wasn’t true because she had been faithful to Lindsey for years. Not only did she have to listen to Lindsey sing the lyrics, she had to sing in high harmony along with him since that’s the way he wrote it. Their music was paramount and even more important than hurt feelings.
It's actually sad to hear how much their range is clipped, but vocals do that over time. And the emotions dull over time too. But when the breakup happened and it was so raw, preserving their voices for a decades long career was not a priority and singing their pain out to the world was their goal, like putting salt in the caramel. No matter the damage to their voices that pulling those notes cost they went all in. This is like reading bout WW2 now, but hey, that's the TH-cam Metrics and copyright law.... Fleetwood Mac are one of the greatest bands of all time and their erm how shall we say it... their messed up interrelationships drove so much musical drama. It was pure beauty and pain with a background of "Roll Tide" that gave it an edge of "Yo WTF" that made it so memorable.
I heard elements of Mark Knopfler's solo in Sultans of swing in Lyndsay's solo here. Not surprising tho given both were influenced by Mike Oldfield. Now there's an idea: Moonlight shadow Mike Oldfield with Pepsi live.
Excellent 💯👍..I love seeing all your first time reactions 😮😊😢 to the Great, legendary Hits...I would like for you to react to "Tell me Lie's ( Sweet little Lie's) and song titled "Everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac and then react to"Dancehall Days" by Wang Chung..Thank you in advance and continue doing great things on this platform and God bless you ❤️🙏😇
You should watch her sing "Silver Springs", from the same concert. If you do, watch Stevie Nicks and the way that she looks at the guitar player. (her ex-Boyfriend)
I came over really fast because I thought you were reacting to my request in Fleetwood Mac. I guest it's not my favorite song that was requested 😭...Please do a reaction also by Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks is the best female singer of all time? ❤ If you could do their, 1997 LIVE CONCERT OF STEVIE SINGING: ((SILVER SPRINGS!!)) THANK YOU MIA, I CERTAINLY DO LOVE ALL OF YOUR AMAZING MUSIC PICKS... AWESOME MUSIC, AWESOME LOVING REACTOR TOO!!!;🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊🎊🎈🎶🎶🎶🎼🎼🎼
I'm thinking that's probably one of the best performances of all time out of paid all the money I've got to go see that check out every song from that concert they were on fire and it's Lindsey Buckingham what is the greatest guitar Pickers in the world check him out he's using his fingers no pics that dude can play and then you got Nick Nick Fleetwood on the drums come on about time somebody found these videos this is my favorite stuff I'm so glad you found it
great reaction, great song, great band. Stevie Nick's still the only female that has THREE yes three inductions into the R+R hall of fame. singer, songwriter and band
To answer your question... this live version sounds very close to the amazing studio version - a good thing - but with a different more extended intro.
Top10 all time song for me without a doubt! Personally I prefer the studio version,(or older live version) ofcourse nothing wrong with this one but keep in mind this was 20 years after the release of the orginals so they have matured somewhat since then😅
it really only deviates from the album track in the long intro. they always sound amazing live. such a talented band. RIP Christine, you were the best!!
Not bad for a bunch of people in their mid fifties ! They were one of the biggest bands that came out of the seventies ! They have a HUGE catalog ! That whole album is amazing but there's a particular song "Big Love" that will knock your socks off !
Legends, Lindsey Buckingham lead singer on this as well as lead guitarist is so under rated. Unfortunately he was let go by thew band, they want to travel and play shows while they have the time, he wants to perfect new music. Sadly we lost Christy McVie lead vocalist and keyboards. Great reactions to the music I grew up on.
Fleetwood Mac is an amazing band. In case you didn't know, Lindsey (the guitarist who was singing), wrote this song about Stevie (the other singer of the band) when they broke up and Stevie didn't like to perform this song on their shows lol. You should react to their live performance of 'Silver Springs', it's a song that was supposed to be on their Rumours album (one of the best selling and most influential albums of all time), but the people working on the project thought it wouldn't fit on the track list and Stevie did not like that decision. 20 years later, they finally performed the song live, and it's an incredible watch because you can see how personal this song is to Stevie and her relationship with Lindsay. It was so powerful that Taylor Jenkins Reid wrote a best seller book that has been adapted to a tv show very recently called 'Daisy Jones & The Six'.

@@jeffstevens4262 Thanks Jeff. Yes I definitely agree with the " Rumours " album.
For me one of the best solos ever. Unique ...he didn't get the recognition he deserved.
Didn't he scrub up nice in the 80s
Lindsay Buckingham is just off The Charts, absolutely amazing vocals/guitar lines... so much emotional content, pours every ounce of his being into it.
@@KennethWilliamElkington the whole band kills it here ... Mick is riveting
Anything from this concert (The Dance) is worth watching. Every song performed is top tier incredible.
I was 14 when this premiered. In the other room my mom said “ get in here!” Fell in love ever since lol
Lindsey is one of the most underrated guitarist in the world!
And he is self taught and he cannot read music. Once of the most legendary guitarists.

Saw them twice in the early 80s in LA. They have a spectacular show. So good live!
mick's drumming on this song on the studio album always gave me the spine tingles...bought the rumors record couple times from over play
Wow! Fleetwood Mac 😮 another great band and a great song! Lindsey And Stevie were lovers back in the day! I believe they made the best music before he went solo…another great song ❤️🙏🏻🔥🔥☮️
love your reaction Mia, Mick Fleetwood is such an under rated drummer, love him!

I used to cry when I heard this song I loved it so much.
Some groups are made for the studio and then you have Fleetwood Mac...absolutely made for live performances on the stage!
They are Fantastic !!!

And phucking humble!
Fun fact if you've ever watched any of the National Lampoon Vacation movies you've heard Lindseys song Holiday Road
You would like Fleet Wood Mac live "Tusk" with usc marching band as it is awesome. It even may be from this same show as the setup is the same.

One of my favorite drum beats of all time. I really like the Rumors album version best, the mix is better to my ear, but this is awsome
Listen to the entire album. Incredible. (Rumors)
React to SRV's version of Voodoo Child AND Look At Little Sister both live from Austin, Texas. You WILL NOT be disappointed !
I heard elements of Mark Knopfler's solo in Sultans of swing in Lyndsay's solo here. Not surprising tho given both were influenced by Mike Oldfield. Now there's an idea: Moonlight shadow Mike Oldfield with Pepsi live.
Fleetwood Mac-Silver Springs live at The Dance
Nah, this concert was pretty much on book. It was amazing!
you should react to "The Chain" probably the best fleetwood mac song certainly from the best album ever "Rumors"....
Lindsey Buckingham is so underrated guitarist
Great reaction... Check out Landslide... Same show 😉
Note how they sing the song to one another.
World class
the intro and the closing solo are different from the recording - the live solo is more intense. (great hair, mia

This is the very best version of this song
Lindsey is killing it
I’ve seen them live twice;
This is as close as it gets to being there.
another classic 70s song, sad 2 c christine, she died recently. fm were huge whn i was child/teen

Wow, remarkably still sounded so vital 20 years on. Everything is tightly in sync.
Live is really good, but I do love the studio version. The best part about live though is seeing Lindsey Buckingham play the heck out of his guitar.
