James, Perfect sound. Many thanks for the reload. Stunning location. Really enjoyable watch. 73 Phil G0BVD
Thank you Phil, it was a great location for a park activation. Glad you enjoyed the video, 73
Great to get you in the log again James, I’m using a similar base loaded coil set up, (MadDog Coil) but I’m using a aluminium door fly screen to couple to ground instead of radials. Very happy with its performance. For walk in activations I’m using a foil backed picnic blanket!
Thanks again Andy for the QSO. I only found out about the MadDog Coil after I ordered the Slidewinder. Base loaded vertical antennas are much easier to set up than wire antennas so they are great for a quick activation. I will look into using a foil blanket or fly screen instead of radials. Thanks for the suggestions, 73
Great set up James. Regards vk5cz ..
Thanks Ian, it is a quick and simple setup for operating portable and QRP, 73

James thank you for the re-uploaded of your video. I've have been treated for B.C.C (Sun Cancer ) 2 rounds of cutting to right arm, so please cover up where possible, to stop the UV rays getting to our skin. It's great being outdoors, Please! Wide bream Hats are the GO! 73 de Dennis vk4oc.
Yes a very good point Dennis, especially now the weather is warming up. I always wear a long sleeve shirt and trousers but I should replace the cap with a wide brim hat. I hope your skin treatment has gone well and you are all good now. Thanks again for your comments, 73
@@vk2ter James, I was bleeding that much that I've now have infection I'm on antibiotics And hoping all get better.
@@dennispeake1877 Sorry to hear that Dennis, I hope you get better soon. I will heed your advice and be sun smart over summer, 73
Have to watch it agn . Hi 73
I hope it was better the second time with the audio working properly, hi hi. Thanks for watching and your feedback, 73
Thanks!
I had the problem too, but mit earbuds the audio signal was o.k.
73
Thank you for the feedback. Was the issue with the audio (when listening without earbuds) for the first version of the video or is it still an issue now? Thanks for watching, 73
James, does the 705 have the ability to record your QSO’s? I see you’re using the SONY recorder (which I too also use and love). Great activation! Such a beautiful location. 73!
Hi Chris, yes the 705 can record the QSOs onto an SD card. For some reason I haven’t thought to use that option for my videos, it would be easier than using an external recorder. I will try the record function next time I take the 705 out into the field, 73
Hi, i’m new with CW. What mean the abbreviation WWFF and RR, EE? Thanks!
WWFF is “World Wide Flora and Fauna”, it is a program for activating parks similar to POTA / Parks on The Air. RR means “Roger Roger” or “Received”, i.e. I understand what you just sent. EE (dit dit) is often used at the end of a transmission as part of the final sign off. I hope this helps, 73
@@vk2ter thanks for answering. I’ll be passing my radio operator examen in France in a couple of weeks. I’ve been practicing CW for months, I’ll try making CW QSO as soon as I receive the QRZ, and get a TX. I’ll like you are ‘subtitling’ the CW conversation. It’s making the video more enjoyable to watch.
@@atobit2765 good luck with your radio operator exam, I hope you get on the air soon. Thank you for your feedback, I hope the videos help with your CW practice, 73
New callsign?
I have had the second call sign (VK2BM) for a few years. I normally use that call sign for contests (one less letter) but thought I would use it for a park activation for a change. I normally use VK2TER as my primary call sign, 73
