Great tutorial and lecture. I never knew about not setting valve lash but once. Back in the day we always reset our roller valve train after each race leaning on it hard.
But in 1985 we didnt have the technology available today.
Ive been watching the KSR Camaro build. I cant wait to see the times it runs.👍👍👍👍👍😁

sometimes its hard to say something without mentioning something.. Cleets Proline is a whole different ball game and steve and Cleet have always done drag-n-drive but now Cleets cant do it with his new car so will the haters say "why is he not did they have a fall out?" no the difference is Cleets gone to a different class and that class there is no driving to the track so steve explains why.. notice no mention when it comes to MULLET? MULLET is still a drag-n-drive car

Cleetus is running a proline because nobody on that crew can be convinced they need to tear down a motor after every couple passes case and point they yeeted the lash caps off the proline after the second pass because they didn't check the lash...

Hello Steve, Crank cracked from the torque converter ballooning. At 4000 hp, siezed lifter cause detonation-miss-fire. The instant high torque transferred to the torque converter causing pressure to exceed 2500-5000 psi. 5000 psi can cause 0.250" thick wall 12" torque converter to balloon. The force from the ballooning exceeds 500,000 lbs force. Ck, runout dimension converter mount to bushing flange. If it exceed 0.020"-0.040" it's ballooned.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and explaining the process of BUILDING versus assembling engines. I have been explaining why I file rings, match valve spring pressures, weigh pistons adjust crank end play when building engines since the mid 1980’s and still get the same statement from people. It doesn’t matter the parts are made to fit just put the in. Glad to see even someone of your caliber of engine building gets same result

  • @jameshenson4871

Steve, I run an SBF w/a solid roller on the street. Everyone told me I would be adjusting valves all the time. Every time I check them, everything looks great. When I tell my friends that no adjustments were needed after 5k miles, they look at me as if I am lying. I began to start doubting myself ( the way I checked valve lash). Now, you have confirmed what I have been seeing.
